also luffy has the soul of the ninetailed fox that destroyed the hidden leaf village in his stomach
That isn't a fucking spoiler they make that clear in chapter 1.

A friend of mine Started on Naruto and I am watching it along side them cause why the fuck not and I unironically completely forgot that they kept the fact that the 4th was his Dad hidden.

no the hidden leaf village was in his stomach and the fox broke it so luffy ate him

also luffy has a grim reaper living in his closet

ace is the son of gold roger and sabo isn't actually dead
Be fair to One Piece, the existence of Ace and Sabo both require a minimum time investment to find out.
Also while I guessed Sabo was still alive at the end of the flashback One Piece might have been willing to send him the same way of Zorro's childhood rival.

Looking back weirdly enough at this point Zorro and Usopp probably have the least tragic backstories out of the crew. Hard to believe that when first watching the swordsman's one.

I remember when I picked up on it, there's a scene early in the show where there's photos of the four Hokages on the wall and the 4th's photo is the only one with a glare on it that conveniently blocks out the face.

Oh yeah, I remember EVERYONE fucking knew it before it was "officially" revealed, I just had completely forgotten it was a plot twist at all.

In terms of tragic backstories
Brook > Robin> Franky > Nami > Sanji > Chopper > Luffy > Zoro > Ussop > Jimbe

I dunno, man, Sanji's psychological abuse on top of all the physical abuse to the point where he's rather careless about his sense of self-worth and being due to not believing he's actually worth living and wishing he could be invisible to the world to avoid further hurt is pretty fucked. Legit the only thing that kept him alive before the Straw Hats showed up was his dreaming of the All Blue, believed to be a complete fairytale. Brook and Robin would be able to empathize with his pain of loneliness, and Chopper would know what it's like to be cast out by family just for being different (maybe also Franky, but he had found himself a second and even third family), but his dream out of all the Straw Hats seems to be the most impossible dream to accomplish.

Brook's was the only one that got me sobbing like a baby, but it really did hurt to get that reveal Sanji was created/born to be nothing more than a science experiment and was written off to be an abject failure. Outside of Chopper, none of the other Straw Hats had that kind of childhood where they believed wholeheartedly they were completely useless from the start. Franky was abandoned due to being in the way, but he never got it beaten into him he was nothing of worth when he liked to build things and therefore was useful. Sanji didn't get that until he met Zeff, and even then, he still wasn't convinced he had actual worth until Whole Cake Island.

Unless we somehow actually get more information on where Nami came from or that it turns out Brook had a shitty childhood as well (honestly doubting it, seems like he had it pretty good), Zoro is the only one who has the possibility of getting more info on why he was traveling around challenging dojos and wanting to become a swordsman. Like we know nothing about his family or where he came from, so he could've been a victim of human trafficking for all we know, and I don't even know if it'll top Sanji's childhood in terms of fucked up, and Robin was on the run from the law as a kid.

I kind of think you Under-rate Chopper's if only because of the fact that he was a wild animal.

He had no context as to what the fuck was happening, he didn't know what a Devil Fruit was, or really what Humans are beyond "Faggots who eat us"

Heeeey has anyone pointed this moment from chapter 793 out after Im's reveal?

Agree. Chopper's is actually such a gut punch, re-reading it after a decade shocked me with how much it effected me. Especially the revelation with the cure Chopper got for Dr. Hiriluk and how that played out... really didn't remember it being as impactful as it was.

Ranking wise (personal):

Robin > Chopper > Brook > Sanji > Franky > Nami > Luffy > Zoro > Jimbe > Usopp

Also he was an animal.

The Human fruit dumped sentience/sapience on him and made him an outcast from his own species in one move. While it's not really something focused on it did happen and honestly makes his story a lot darker than it looks at a glance. Which when you remember he's the character that poisoned their adopted father says a lot.

Am I the only one who thinks Im is going to be voiced by Norio Wakamoto?
Probably not. Purely because of the age of the voice actor. It could be a decade or more before that role is no longer needed, which for someone already in their 70s in risky. Unless Oda gives them all their lines now to record.

I don't know if I'm ready for the Bonney-Kuma flashback, guys. Father-daughter stuff gets to me.

And wait, what, Stussy is a clone? Huh??
I think shes the first person to lose their actual father. Law lost his but Rosinante was the most impactful. Franky and Chopper lost a father figure but not biological.
