Also it doesn't look like Uta is the villain, and that Luffy starts a War over who gets to kidnap her because he hops on stage and is like "yeah she is Shanks' daughter" like the lovable fucking retard he really is.

She appears set up to be the 'good person who goes too far and has to get talked down by Luffy' kind of antagonist. We'll see.

Not related to her character, but I like that her hair loops are animated like bunny ears.

So this might sound silly, but is the RED movie canon? My friends are going to watch it since it's released in my place, and I was wondering whether to watch it or not

It has Film in it’s title, that means it has Oda writing the story. That means it is non canon but anything from it may end up being canon. And the last film had Laugh tale bombshell so there is probably going to be something relating to Shanks that ties back into the manga. Probably confirmation Roger’s crew found him as a baby as anything bigger is clearly setup to be revalaotions that will only happen in the manga.

The Films ambiguity on being Canon pisses me off, let alone whether or not Oda wrote it, or if it’s even good.

I think Strong World is awful, but it’s canon.

Film Z was tons better, but it’s not canon.

In general I am fine with the annual movies, but each year the hype gets lamer.

Yeah, I don't think 3 years would be enough. Oda's fight scenes always take quite a long time to finish, after all

It's basically Naruto's infinite tsukuyomi with One Piece characters, Uta is the main villain after Shanks (like Obito & Madara Uchiha) and if you've seen one you've pretty much seen the other

Also Oda only wrote Strong World. He didn't write anything else after, though he DID come up with designs, I think. I know he came up with Zephyr, Ain, and Binz, he storyboarded the final battle in Gold, and I don't know what the hell he did beyond that but he was pretty much a producer for most of these movies, not a writer.

Uta's the villain because Shanks is a deadbeat who can't deal with child's issues. From what I read I think it's like if Ace decided to take his angst over Roger out on the world instead of internalizing it. Think of that moment in the trailer that came out where he told her "there is no peace or equality in the world" then it cuts to her crying as someone holds her back. In this case though, she's hidden because she ate the wrong fruit and not because of who her birth parents are (and he ain't one of them).
