Re-reading it now, I wonder if that little factoid was made public. It would explain why so many people are celebrating Sabo's alleged act even though Cobra was most likely known to be a benevolent king (especially after it came out that Crocodile and Baroque Works orchestrated the rebellion), and the Navy certainly seem to think the rest of the Revolutionary Army (who again, were horrified at this idea) backed it up, given that everyone in the world fucking hates the Celestial Dragons and Dragon's intended plan before things went off the rails was to go public and declare war on them.

That's directly from the interview. I can honestly see why that happened since Ikue Ohtani is also Pikachu, one of the most famous mascots in the world (Pikachu got famous before she was cast as Chopper, so Toei must've seen where the wind was blowing).

But at the same time, it makes for a funny gag in that the World Government legit thinks Chopper is the pet of the Straw Hats, hence why his bounty's so low and he cries over it.

It's from the Aoyama/Oda interview that was linked earlier. I still think Chopper looked cuter in the first half compared to the second half but 🤷‍♂️

I'm guessing Cobra dying is a combination of him asking too many questions and Imu deciding that it was time to eliminate the Nefertari family for not ascending to Celestial Dragonhood.
From what I recall, when Imu was shown walking up to the throne in front of the Five Elders when they were asking who to "extinguish" next, he had Vivi's picture in his hand. I'm guessing the Elders killed Cobra and were trying to get to Vivi as well but Sabo was able to protect her. Or Cobra sacrificed himself to let Vivi escape with Sabo. They, as usual, lie about what happened and pinned it on Sabo. If the propaganda succeeds, no one knows the World Gov't killed one of their own and the revolutionaries get tainted with the murder of a beloved ruler.

Other counterpoint: Absalom died offscreen too, and we didn't get any setup for it happening at all. Cobra's been shown to be sick and was stated to be on his deathbed multiple times and again, the Five Elders were getting pissed off at him digging too deep.

I hate that Chopper has become a lame joke, I love Drum Island and the idea of the Rumble Ball but now any time he is in combat he does nothing but Kung Fu Point.

Yeah I prefer his pre time skip powers. His old abilities were Time based meaning he had to finish the fights fast and he needed to be smart about it. Now he just spams kung fu point even though Horn is better

I’m assuming it’s more of a “can’t have my daughter on a pirate ship that’s going to be openly attacked/go into all kinds of danger, so I’ll leave her with these people to keep her safe” sort of thing.

Also gonna guess her singing or something can brainwash/control people.

Honestly, I'm not seeing WG would "kill" Cobra simply because he's asking too much questions. I'm thinking this is all a part of a bigger plan to direct Luffy, the Revolutionary Army, the Marines, and Blackbeard to a big three-way war

Which I can seque to my theory: Imu is looking for a successor, and he wants to know which one is fit to ascend to the throne by forcing them to duke it out. I mean, think it again, a lot of the recent story developments revolved around the "Successor of the will of D". I'm thinking the battle between Rogers and Rocks was a failed similar attempt, where instead the victor (Roger) refused and that's why they killed him

Also it doesn't look like Uta is the villain, and that Luffy starts a War over who gets to kidnap her because he hops on stage and is like "yeah she is Shanks' daughter" like the lovable fucking retard he really is.

Traditionally, One Piece movies (along with anime, video games, and the like) are not canon. The only contested exception (to my knowledge) is Strong World, the movie that features Shiki and was written by Oda himself.
