I’m not watching this video, but I am going to assume he’s given it up because One Piece isn’t (and likely has never been) the type of story he wants it to be.
Holy shit he just regurgitates all the sour grapes criticism from /a/ (which is pretty much what I thought it would be), and I’m certain he’s only watched the anime despite its long running, well-known, issues separate from the rest of the series.Well, he was nice enough to split it into sections.

-opens up with cliche "if you still like one piece, that's fine" protectionSorry but that ain't cutting it, my guy.
What does he say beyond that? If you do not want to watch then fine but this is not enough.
I’ve always been baffled at how this is a criticism when this isn’t just endemic to One Piece; it is a fundamental structure to the serialized adventure series as a genre.Whines about how almost every arc is the exact same with a pattern
Fine, he is respecting opinions even if he does it in a fake way.-opens up with cliche "if you still like one piece, that's fine" protection
Isn't that part of the identity? There is a pattern but there are always new twists happening.- Whines about how almost every arc is the exact same with a pattern(has a point how but is taking it too seriously)
How is it different from the previous time.-Whines about it again(again correct but it's coming from someone taking the series too seriously)
First things first, Queen is not royalty. That is just his title. A role he plays. He has a problem with connections? Like, the idea that some people are related? Oh no, the characters did not spawn from the void! What an idiot! Noticing that tropes are at play does not mean they are bad! Oh no, the character swore revenge over someone they love getting hurt! What a cliché!!! What is next? Linear storytelling? Oh, and let's never find out about two of the things that move the plot forward! Ryan Johnson, are you writing this?-says characters like queen/franky, ace/sabo, sanji and shanks had sudden royalty connections and doesn't like it, they just had that stuff?(again he criticizes it just happening rather than the plotholes it creates with this new knowledge) also mocks fans for defending this and them for wanting to see more of the will of D and the void century. That's super serious
It is called a "running gag"! He has a problem with a trope again! Tropes are tools. Making a tropeless work is impossible!-says one piece is long to get through(oh really, then you should've dropped it then) and says gags get repeated too much( as if the nosebleed thing was the only comedic thing in this so-called super serious arc about these real morals, it's a comedy still. Did he not pay attention to the other arcs?)
Meh, that is the algorhythm. Blame YT.-uses "unalive" for all the times describing kaido trying to kill himself
Treating things too seriously is not his issue. Having shit opinions is. You can agree or disagree but a shitty opinion is a shitty opinion. He is getting paid for this? Next, he will complain about books using black letters. And full the rest cause he 's still treatinf this too seriously.
Motherfucker is one step from starting a fight with reality!I’ve always been baffled at how this is a criticism when this isn’t just endemic to One Piece; it is a fundamental structure to the serialized adventure series as a genre.

1. What? Luffy has become an emperor and we are 3/4ths of the way to having all the poneglyphs.Well, he was nice enough to split it into sections.

ace dying is super important even currently. sabo would have never gotten his memories back im guessing had ace not died and luffy would not have been pushed to get as strong as he has. every good hero needs some losses along the way and losing ace was the big one for luffy.-whines about every character dying in the present is irrelevant and doesn't like how they die for some, like ace and izou.
>Kicks the hostile foreigners (Fishmen) out of Cocoyashi Village and restores local ruleHonestly, be real, the One Piece crew are pretty left-wing coded. They probably would hate Trump, who acts like a stereotypical "bumbling idiot" villain with the vain boasts, fucked up face and goofy way of speaking.
Wapol was the rightful ruler. An evil prick but he is not a foreigner. Read the story. He was deposed and Dalton took over.>Kicks the hostile foreigners (Wapol) out of Drum Island and restores the monarchy
Doflamingo is also descended from Dressrosa. His family came from there originally.>Kicks the hostile foreigners (Doflamingo Pirates) out of Dressrosa and restores the traditional monarchy
IIRC Wapol abdicated when Blackbeard showed up.Wapol was the rightful ruler. An evil prick but he is not a foreigner. Read the story. He was deposed and Dalton took over.
lets not forget they also ruined the party of a kind old lady who just wants to eat food and unite all the races of the world.>Kicks the hostile foreigners (Fishmen) out of Cocoyashi Village and restores local rule

Strawhat Pirates looking an awful lot like the ICE Pirates to me.
He abandoned the throne, the people and the right to rule when Blackbeard threatened to off-panel him.Wapol was the rightful ruler.
The Donquixote family abdicated the rule of Dressrosa for citizenship in Mariejois.Doflamingo is also descended from Dressrosa.
Yes, it doesn't match up perfectly to the CURRENT THING. The people who think One Piece does need to be fed a little shitposting. It might hit good emotional beats and make interesting philosophical points (Doffy on good and evil), but it isn't a political treatise. Also, SHs fight against foreign hostile armed forces as opposed to illegal migrants. It is very centrist as far as crews go.

Royalty is rather brutal. In many cases, royals are killed by usurpers even if they abdicate as their presence can be a rallying point for opposition. The Soviets killed a nun who was related to the Romanovs for one example. The Donquixote family abdicated the rule of Dressrosa for citizenship in Mariejois.
The SHs are free. They are not left or right, they are doing their own thing.Yes, it doesn't match up perfectly to the CURRENT THING. I thought Luffy would be throwing hands with Akainu for the death of Ace. I feel like Luffy wouldn’t care for Imu except if Imu were to try and kidnap Vivi. Anything else Imu could say or do and Luffy would most likely be his usual dimwit self.and Ace's death which gave Luffy an extremely personal reason to beat the holy hell out of Imu who is probably the one who directly Ordered Ace's death because I doubt Sengoku really wanted to start a direct war with Whitebeard.
Wasn’t Sabaody an L because of how Kuma separated all of the Straw Hats in front of Luffy? And Ace just dragged Luffy into thinking he was weak until Jinbe snapped him out of his funk.It was a much needed breath of fresh air after Luffy spent the whole of East Blue and Grand Line getting what he wanted just by yelling "I'm gonna be the pirate king." Sorry, rubber man, you're gonna have to put work in.
