Recently, made the mistake of going on Tumblr to look for some content to post & being bombarded by the insanity of just how this shit is everywhere. I had forgotten how it was the origin of all the insanity that has contaminated modern fan spaces. Very scattered, I just picked some more recent shows, comics, and movies; some very topical (Arcane: League of Legends, Stranger Things, that gay hockey show) but also ones that surprised me (Amazon's Invincible, Squid Games). I even just typed "fandom" to see what some of the worst would show up (mods please edit everything if it isn't in thumbnail).

- Grown ass women (some 30+) with most still identifying as some genderspecial and such in the big {CURRENT YEAR}

- every single one of these broads has the same exact progressive politics (trans rights, anti-ICE posting [Xitters or here], Palestine reposting, etc) but all of them either have drawn/consumed/created works depicting gay rape, incest, or underage, and other dark content

(call me an old-fashioned, pearl-clutching, puritan but I don't think a 17 year old should even know what an "aftercare" is, let alone think smut is a healthy form of sexual expression [especially in this current online climate]. Have (normal) sex with someone your age irl will always beat posting smut online for fellow degenerates to schlick to, imo. Again, I am choosing some of the worst cases. But I can't help but cackle at the sheer volume and consistency these chicks lose it over middle-aged and/or twinky white or asian men. Near religious obsession when I am certain if any of these types of men hit them up in real life, they'd either A) call the cops or B) shrivel into a crumpled ball of anxiety at being approached. One of the big differences between fujos and regular gooners is that the regular gooners actually want to fuck their object of desire, the fantasy is just a means of expressing what they want irl; fujos sit firmly and happily in the cuck chair. Sure, it's fantasy but it's just so fascinating how they are quick to complain about any canon straight relationships in their respective shows. Always how "bland" they are or how the women are "never utilized" in them (lmao) or how their yaoislop matters because blah blah blah current political/social activist talking point yada yada.

Scrolling AO3 is especially a riot because the fics will have such flowery titles (like "One Million Lovers (But None Like Him)" or "Home of Our Magnificent Sadness" or some popular song title) and the tags consists of shit like rape, urethral sounding, anal fisting, piss, etc. So much for being so much more "soulful' and "having deeper connection" than regular smegular [male centered] porn, lol. Definitely look into Tumblr for more unfiltered madness since they don't have fellow Xitter users dunking on them.

From browsing the fanfiction horrors thread: has anyone else noticed an increase in the amount of more gross/niche kinks arising in fandom as of late? Am I deranged or is there just more incest, shota, (gay) rape fics presen, dacryphilia, degradation etc occuring nowadays? Like these types have always had their followers but (along with the explosion of transing the canonical male characters and turning them into obdediant, little housewives) it seems damn near every other fanfic written recently has mentions of at least one of these. I'm well aware it's just getting used to the porn and needing more extreme stuff to get off but why specifically these? It's vile, but in a way that feels so ... female and I can't understand why it reads that to me.

It's pure kink escalation and the sudden prevalence of pissing and violent deep throating was the final straw for me to leave AO3 and fandom behind for good. I'm sure if you took the time to go through the popular fandoms/ships throughout the years you could document when what new kink spread. Same with the gross trend of transing (or, let's be honest, it's mostly "poonering") at least one character in a ship.

I will also insist forever that there was less of a focus on smut in fanfic in the past. Sure, it was always there, but you used to be able to find more plot-focused fics. Nowadays, it's mostly (violent) smut and nothing else. I was once in a discussion on LC of all places where several people argued that they're not reading gen fics or longfics that aren't rated at least M because what's the point. Imo the pornification of fandom has made those online communities much worse, same with the pervasive slacktivism.

It's entirely memetic and I think actually these ladies are MORE susceptible to picking that kind of thing up because you think just reading through something isn't the same as explicitly masturbating to some weird ass porn...except it kind of is in the long run. But it'll have an effect on you if you read enough of it completely psychologically rawdogging the stuff and not going in with a shield of disgust (even then, don't do that much, there's a reason I don't try to find many fics to post myself.) Then there is also the feedback loop of gooners being loyal and vocal "customers" as it were. You're likely to get easier and less picky engagement if you cater to them, so there is attention incentives at play. Some fandoms seem overrun with smutfics so if you're in that fandom and start poking around fic as a first timer it's likely you'll just start to believe it's more normal than it is.

I'm really glad I got over that phase and I wasn't even into that bad of stuff. I hate read infamous stuff like dipper and pines goes to taco bell? I think it was but that's about it.

These people completely one shot their brains on this stuff it seems and some of them never get out of it. It's embarrassing seeing 30 some year old women squeeing over this shit. Those are the ones that spread the worst shit a lot of the time too because they've had years and years of developing worse tastes and just like with traditional porn addiction, they need the more extreme stuff to keep their interest.

I still can't get over the fact the best they could find was that froggy hapa for a show that's supposed to be "sexy". I guess it goes to show what an awful gig it's considered behind the scenes. The other guy isn't too bad but from what I've seen in the pictures posted here he doesn't really do anything on his own. Being cast in a period drama with good costumes and a romanticized setting would help.

From what I understand, everyone basically agrees that the guys are mid, but it's also part of the charm. It makes them more believable as hockey players. Their chemistry is great and their acting is much than you'd expect for low-budget Canadian softcore. While the writing is mostly corny, there are a few truly standout scenes towards the end of the season that IMO elevate it beyond just gay hockey buttfucking.

It's also a very cozy show. It's only six, 45-minute episodes, one of which is about a completely different gay hockey player. Nothing much happens. There's very little conflict. Lots of pretty real estate to stare at. There are multiple fag hag characters for the female fans to project themselves onto. Tons of sex scenes. obviously, but they're very romantically shot and very female gaze-y. It isn't explicit, porny, HBO sex. (Curious to see how the look and the feel of the show change next year as an HBO production. I'm sure it'll be a shitshow in the fandom.)

Exactly a decade since this baby came out and was the biggest thing in fujoland for a while. Crazy that the studio is now responsible for some of the most mainstream anime like JJK, chainsaw man and the final AOT seasons.

Before, it was a niche thing, but websites like Tumblr pushed it into the mainstream. When fandom had to be mailed via fanzines, Kirk/Spock fans were creating cutouts of Spock's penis and had them in paper doll BDSM outfits. That's not out of the norm for what you see today, it's just more popular. I have noticed a lot more extreme fetishes including the rise of shotacon and related pedophilia.

The main issue I have (and I want to read the books to maybe post in the LGBT book club thread) is that Jacob Tierney, who also created "Shoresy" and "Letterkenny", made that statement of "there's a safety in removing women." He said what fujos have been saying for years, and now people are seeing how much misogyny is involved.

The one benefit I've heard is that in the books, one scene has Ilya forcing himself on Shane orally, and he calls it "fucking creepy." That was changed in the show where Ilya seeks permission via body language and Shane gives it.

Oh, I can tell you those guys HATE Hudson Williams. They hate that he's mixed. They don't think he's hot. They don't think he's jacked enough. They hate that the character is gay (unlike them, who are 100% heterosexual men who are not in the closet at all). They hate that he's a bottom. They hate that the character's dad is white and mom is Asian (the other way around would be okay).

That the show is written for and is a huge hit with straight women, and Williams is a major part of that, is too abstract for them; it's FAG show for FAGGY FAGGOTS and therefore a dishonor to their ancestors or whatever the fuck.

I'm surprised this thread doesn't have more South Park posts because with how male centric the show is, it has attracted a lot of fujos. It only got worse when Creek became canon. Altho I think its moreso that if youre terminally online youre both significantly more likely to become a pooner and significantly more likely to become a gooner, them having the same root cause rather than A causing B.

The pooners are probably as a whole more terminally online and also generally more mentally ill than non-pooner shippers, and so more likely to have more servere and messed up gooner tendencies.

Another one called community service, also stuck with me, together in some way they represent everything wrong with AO3 to me.

The sheer number of M/M rape fics written by pooners that exist, is nothing short of insanity to me, i could never write such things yet here they are pumping out 229,819 word stories of the most vile shit you could ever imagine. Seriously what has happened to female literature? Ever since 50 shades of grey dropped its like any standards for writing went out the window, i can't find a new book that isn't just smut, or a badly written fantasy novel anymore, what are our daughter going to grow up reading when anything written after 2011 is absolutely awful??? Its depressing but most of my reading now is purely, the news, academic research and AHPRA Panel decisions. Its a male centric show whose main/minor characters are 4th grade boys. Only Wendy was the 4th grade girl who was prominent since the beginning but she was mostly known as Stan's girlfriend. As such, the show attracted a large fujo follow base. Fast forward to the episode "Tweek X Craig" where the show "made fun" of yaoi by having Asian girls make fanart of Tweek and Craig as a gay couple and have the town be sad if they aren't together. You would think "Oh the show is actually making fun of fujos by having them pretend to be together", but nope. Both the episode "Put It Down" and the game "Fractured But Whole" confirm that they're actually a gay couple.

They are also shown to have gotten married in the Post-COVID Special, so guess Tweek and Craig were always gay after all, you guys, they weren't being coerced since childhood or anything.

Due to this, the show attracted a lot of fujos who only watch and know the show because of Tweek and Craig. The only time they mention any of the other boys is if they ship them together. Whether its Stan and Kyle, Kenny and Butters, Cartman and Kyle, etc its pretty much the main reason these people watch the show nowadays.
