The most horrifying aspect of it are the "Elsagate" videos made for children that deliberately incorporate a lot of weird fetish shit (and not even like "mainstream fetishes", I'm talking like Deviantart furry-tier fetishes, like fart fetish and pregnancy fetish). Roblox contributes to this too. Basically weird perverted adults making content that seems child-friendly and is aimed at kids, but it has a lot of fetish themes to it. Parents need to be way more educated on how to monitor their kids, because even platforms that claim to be "child-friendly" like the YouTube Kids app or Roblox aren't actually child-friendly, and parents will just blindly give their kids access to this type of shit.

I follow quite a few teaching journals/blogs/pages, and many have reported for the past few years (ESPECIALLY post-pandemic) that children in kindergarten can't write their own names, but they know all sorts of vulgar memes and inappropriate songs/lyrics/celebrities. Parents don't know or don't care what's on TikTok. A smart phone is a Child Silencer. Parents are addicted to their devices, too. Pedophiles purposely use familiar characters (like Elsa, Peppa Pig, etc.) or cutesy characters (like those weird cat and cupcake AI videos) to draw in children and ease them into watching explicit material. The digitization and globalization of our world have made those evil tasks easier than ever to perform.

For a long time, social media has been actively used by bad actors to corrupt children. YouTube and TikTok are filled with quick-consume content that allows users to easily scroll through hundreds of videos in mere minutes. Auto-play is a popular feature. And the popular, most algorithmic-driven genres of this content? It's always explicitly sexual, if not sexually violent, material. I'll try to find him and link him here, but there's a researcher I follow on Instagram who studies and posts about digital humanities, and his latest project has been watching any and all AI videos that appear on his kids' YouTube Kids feed. The Kids app, as strict as it is, is still unregulated in many ways. These weird AI videos get through, and they depict things like sexual assault, battery, child abuse, etc., in their seconds-long videos. He's been reporting the accounts to get them taken down, but there are literally dozens upon dozens of these AI accounts, many of which merely repost this shit, which has millions of views.

It's going to get worse. I don't want to think about what the state of social media will be like in ten years. "AI Slop" is steadfast becoming a household term and a genre of its own. We have to unplug.

Seeing this over the past few months and realising how it's not going to get better at all has absolutely crushed my dreams of being a mother. I feel so bad for children growing up now and in the future, they just don't stand a chance, even if their parents don't allow them access to social media they will be the weirdo who isn't allowed tik tok or they can't talk to their friends from school and play games together because they do it all on discord.

I especially fear for girls, seeing so many headlines of young girls in school having their faces put onto porn using AI by their peers is horrific. It's so hard not to be a complete doomer about the future when things like this are going to get even easier to access.
