personally, i'm a big fan of the homeless in my area because they sweep, mop, and wipe down the counters and tables at one of our stores for some soda and cookies, as well as take out the trash. we do run the occasional dope heads off, and have them clear out when corporate stops by.

Nothing better than beating a tramp up after a tough day at the office. I saw one of Oprah's guests talking about as a stress release technique years ago and I've never looked back.

20 CoachCoins says there's going to be a Hep A/B/C outbreak tied to those stores.

I don’t have like a hate-boner for homeless people or anything but I do have a thing about my personal space being invaded and that’s unfortunately something homeless people do a lot. I understand they kinda have to, as catching people off guard is sometimes the only way to get some money off strangers but it still irritates me.
Why do hobos constantly talk to themselves? Is it drunks or are they just crazy fucks?
The talking to oneself thing is usually schizophrenia specifically but can sometimes be bipolar disorder, too.

when we took over the store in this especially ghetto ass neighborhood, there was mold in the fountain drink machine's ice maker (and just about everywhere else, but that's beside the point). after we cleaned it all up, people were complaining that everything "tasted weird". they were used to all the drinks having a touch of decay in them. the people who frequent these kinds of places are both immensely retarded and have a commensurate retard-strength immune system. i'm not too worried about them.

the only headache is making sure no junkie fuck comes in and OD's in our restrooms, to be honest.

we had a guy who looked like Jesus pacing around in front of the store an entire business day, just a few weeks ago. kept talking to the sky.

I used to volunteer on behalf of the homeless for a couple of years last decade. I started with high hopes and ended up disillusioned. Personally, I think most homeless people really should be involuntarily committed to mental hospitals. Most of them should be there permanently. Not just for the good society, but for their own good too. The more dangerous homeless should be in prison and never let out. I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but most homeless people are nothing but mental patients, drug addicts, and dregs of society.
Fuck that, spending more money to house and feed them. Take a page from Pol Pot's book and bash their brains in with cinderblocks!

I'd still be leery and get tested every few months. Mold in the fountain drink machine is one thing, but more homeless needle freaks have shit like hepatitis B / C and HIV then don't. All it takes is one drop of blood and you've got Aids or Hep C for the rest of your life. They could just decide you aren't paying them enough or doing enough for them and start poisoning people with tainted blood. You can't trust these "people" worth a god-damn.

Genuinely, why don't they get jobs? I'd like to think I work in a relatively PTSD/veteran free country, and even our homeless look pretty clean. Most of them re-sell hobo magazines but like.. they stand there 10 hours a day. Surely they could spend 7 of those in a normal job.

Most homeless are junkies and can't pass a piss test.

A thing normalfags don't account for is the multitude of subcultures at play on the streets, all with their own pros and cons. What most people detest, even those who fall under the broader category of "travelers", is what's referred to as the homebum. These are the people who've been haunting that intersection, bridge or alley for an extended period of time.
People who have been homebumming for years are those that are so complacent/burned out/strung out/psychotic they're not even trying to get housed up anymore. These are the people that waddle around reeking of shit, babbling at you and your chick, menacing you when you decline to give them the change they think they're entitled and so on. They're a fucking nuisance, even to proper hobos.
A proper hobo embodies that old timey spirit of traveling around by any means necessary for temporary work. Some might mock the concept of going out of your way for temporary work when you could always slave away in one place for the dangled carrot of a retirement check. But surely one could understand the appeal of having thousands of dollars in your pocket with no real bills to fork it over to, perhaps beyond phone service+storage units+travel tickets. And how much better off you could live without serious addictions to nurse away on a daily basis.
I could expound but the TL;DR is fuck homebums and big shout-out to the hobo

Most of them want to be homeless, it's just something they like. Yes there are those that have mental issues and are crazy but most of them like the lifestyle of being homeless. My city for example provides them free food and housing-led initiatives but many of them 'choose' to be homeless.

If they go into housing then they have to follow rules, like: don't do drugs, and: don't trash the place, and most of them aren't willing to give up the drug and garbage lifestyle.

A dalit approached me at the train station yesterday evening with a hand written note. I looked at him, looked at the note, read the word “India,” and immediately told him “No.”

How the hell did he even get here where he now has to beg for money? Go back to India and have your people help you.

There's a lot of scammers on the streets. Could easily be someone with a place that knows how profitable panhandling can be. Sources say there are little towns you can work a circuit through and make $100+/hour

I hate getting woken up early in the morning by that one guy who constantly screams at the top of his lungs about how the cops took his house away.

Reading this thread reminded me of a man I knew for a while. He lives in a van (and I know to this day even after all this time he still lives in that fucking van with his two dogs.)

He doesn't work, never did in the time I heard from him. But he claimed that he had a great job that was high paying and important, but that he got let go because of some conspiracy or something. He claims he went against some plan and got fired because he was against whatever the company was doing, and that he was in danger.

Also, he claimed that he ran for politics....but for some reason he didn't win.

But him living in that van had nothing to do with him being a drunk, oh no. No, he apparently lost his job and lost his home and inherited his dead parent's dogs so now he's homeless and living in a van, and has for years.

Except- he never tried to get a job. He never tried to find housing or a homeless shelter, and never did anything except get drunk off his ass. In all that time, he did nothing.

I think his politics and job claim was all a lie, either that or he's majorly delusional.

The lesson is: don't talk to crazy drunk homeless people who live in vans.

I'm trying to figure out a very weird post on Nextdoor. It was so weird that I looked at the guys profile and he joined the day he made the post. He wrote a long vague screed about how we need to be reminded to be compassionate to the homeless. What was weird was how it wasn't inflammatory or argumentative - he claimed many times that he understood the trouble with living around homeless people. It reminded me of a friend at work showing me how she ran an angry email through AI to make it more palatable to the recipient before she hit send.
The other thing that was weird was that he responded to everyone posting in the most bizarre way. Long comments either appreciating the compassion or claiming he understood the frustration but reminding them to be compassionate. Every response was a long paragraph. He also made several comments to no one in particular.
So I'm thinking AI, it's pretty obvious. But why?
Every usual homeless advocate in the area was jumping in to signal their virtue not realizing what they were talking to, but did it matter if they did know they were talking to AI? There were only a handful of people pointing out that homeless initiatives aren't working, that we're just attracting them here, that its an environmental disaster, but their comments were pretty well drowned out.
I just can't understand the reasoning behind the homeless support to the point of making fake accounts. Just why?

Calling modern homeless reprobates and degenerates "hobos" is disrespectful to actual hobos. Real hobos may not have had stable homes, but they actually worked to support themselves. They moved around from place to place in a constant search for work. When they did have to sleep outdoors because they couldn't afford/find a room at a boarding house, they had the decency to do it away from the eyes of the public. They didn't just crash out on a train station bench or curl up on a tarp laid out on the sidewalk in front of someone's business. Real hobos had a code. They knew not to fuck with the residents of the community they were currently in because it would negatively impact their ability to find work to support themselves, and would poison that community against allowing transient workers to enter in the future.

Modern homeless are nothing like hobos. They're lazy, they're dirty, they have no sense of decency or nobility, they have no respect for the communities they enter or the people around them. Hobos were decent human beings who just happened to be poor and homeless. Modern homeless are parasites on society. I am genuinely not being hyperbolic nor unserious when I say all street homeless should be run out of civilized areas by stormtroopers armed with flamethrowers. Their scrap tents should be burnt to ashes in front of their very eyes. The community should gather together to throw rocks and glass bottles at them on their way out of town. The moment they try to ooze their way back into civilized areas they should be torched on the spot.

The vast majority of what we call homeless these days are not just poor, unfortunate souls down on their luck. They are antisocial misfits who don't want to work, don't want to support themselves, don't respect authority, and don't wish to abide the social contract. They want to live like that and don't want anyone to tell them what to do. They will never improve their lives or become productive members of society. They are degenerate reprobates who have abandoned their status as human beings. If they don't want to live like human beings, then they can go live out in the wild. If they want to reject being civilized people then they should have no claim to the benefits of civilized society. So no medical care, no police protection, no emergency services, and no welfare programs. They can fend for themselves away from civilization, or they can refuse to leave and be lit up by a flamethrower firing squad.

Someone was telling me over a week ago Scientology has been contributing to the homeless problem because they bleed pleb members dry and then kick them out of the church when they can no longer pay the dues, and many of them have family members (either still members or are non-members whom they were forbidden to interact with) who disowned them. Is there any truth to this?
There's less than 100,000 Scientologists worldwide it's so probably not a significant contribution.

How is it they have a fucking office/church in every moderate to major city with numbers like that?
Although I feel like they're considerably less popular that they used to be.
