She literally offered up and raped her own little sister and supplied the drugs that helped to kill her.

And didnt she end up marrying and breeding with a relative of her lawyers ?

I'm not sure but there's an entire internet subculture, I believe, that spends its time tracking her down and reporting her location.

There are a few sane people left in Canada at least.

Jeeeeeeesus fucking christ. Reading what everyone posted here is sucking my soul away bit by bit.

I knew Canada has some problems that don't seem to be addressed nearly enough (like Ontario and Quebec's grip over politics, and everything involving the Human Rights Tribunal), but to see how freaking padded the kiddie gloves are on criminals that would've never seen the light of day under the U.S. justice system is leaving the taste of blood in my mouth.

Holy, hell. Canada is an insane and morally bankrupt country.
I make it a personal life rule to never trust an overly nice person. There's always something fucked up that drives them to be that friendly, that whole "they were a fine churchgoing pillar of the community, I don't know what happened!" when the mask slips.

Canada is a country of overly friendly people, generally speaking. That's what concerns me the most about Canadians and stories like Li don't help any.

Give me a jaded gallows humor ridden cynic any day, they'll probably be a complete asshole but they'll typically be honest about who they are.

It's what you'd expect from a country whose ENTIRE NATIONAL IDENTITY is solely "we aren't the United States". Except for Quebec whose identity is "honhonhon we aren't Anglos". Seriously, Canadians pretend like, "oh, we have hockey and maple syrup and good healthcare and sane politics and politeness" but this is just a cope to distract from the reality that the entirety of Canadian national identity is built on a fear and utter aversion of the United States and Americans. It's a nation settled by and ruled by descendants of people who've hated the US since the colonial days, all those Quebec people, all those traitors back in 1776, yep, that's your Canadian founding stock.

With that in mind you can see why Canada is so fucked up and why people like Yaniv and the monsters mentioned so far can run free. Canada saw the US was racist. Since Canada didn't want to be like the US and be racist (except against natives because why not) Canada decided to go hardcore into social justice. Canada saw the US didn't like LGBTQIAP people so Canada decided to let troons run wild. Canada saw the US justice system was strict so Canada decided to give murderers and rapists and pedos a slap on the wrist. Canada saw the US court system could actually work so Canada decided to create Human Rights Tribunals. Canada saw the US constitution was a functional document so Canada decided to give the middle finger to the Bill of Rights. Canada saw the US liked football so they made a knockoff with three downs and a longer field.

It goes on, and on, and on.

It really depends on your social circle. Most Canadians I know have no problem with Americans and enjoy going to the states. We mostly want to drink beer, smoke weed, watch hockey in the winter and hit the lake in the summer, and avoid stupid people, which unfortunately is becoming more difficult every year.

We suffer from shitty politicians who want to ride the morality train but have no problem doing shady things wasting billions for their own good (kathleen Wynne). One weird thing about Canada is for how much our politicians and media boast that were multicultural and diversity is our strength, the integration of immigrants is horrendous, leading to entire sections/cities of ethnically homogenous demographics (many sections around the GTA). I don't fault the immigrants coming here, as you're always gonna connect more with people similar to yourself, especially in a foreign country that you don't know well. But a lot of people don't appreciate the government packing the area full of people that the infrastructure cannot handle for the sake of votes to stay in power and global asspats from the UN.

And all the things posted in this thread are a frustrating issue as well. The government believes in forgiveness for pedos and murderers, but step onto the sidewalk with a beer and you're cuffed.

Nothing us plebs can do about it though, so might as well crack a cold one and pack that pipe.

your PM likes too paint his face black and talked to a little black girl saying how terrible it was of him doing it.

we sweds get alot of shit (as we damn should) but holy fuck, you guys are something.

Reading about how Canada hates america so their solution is to be even worse in the name of "progression" just makes me proud to be an american, tbh.

Another bunch of fucketry from CFS types in Canada. (PL, I have a relative who was involved in the inquiry)... Other articles go into the hideous abuse of the kid. It should be noted that in Canada, a first degree murder conviction of getting life means 25 years but there is a sort of "mandatory" 1/3 off the sentence and sometimes a lot more so the person serves somewhere between 9 and 17 years unless they are designated a dangerous offender (such as Paul Bernardo was). If these people aren't out of prison yet, they likely soon will be. (That's assuming they haven't been designated dangerous offenders, and I don't think they have.)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phoenix_Sinclair

Phoenix Victoria Hope Sinclair (23 April 2000 – 11 June 2005) was a Canadian five-year-old girl who was murdered by her mother and stepfather. The circumstances of her life and death resulted in one of the largest public inquiries ever held in Manitoba, examining the child welfare system.

Biography
Phoenix Sinclair was born on 23 April 2000 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, to Samantha Kematch and Steve Sinclair. Her father chose her name.[1] Both of her parents had previous involvement with child welfare authorities, and Kematch had a previous child who was a permanent ward of the state. Phoenix was immediately placed in the custody of the Child and Family Services (CFS) agency, as her parents were assessed as being unprepared to care for a baby.[2][3] She was first housed in a temporary shelter and later with foster parents, where her parents were allowed visitation rights. Phoenix was returned to her parents in September, with conditions including that they receive training on how to care for children and supervision from social services; however, according to the inquiry on Phoenix's case, the training and assessment provided by CFS was inadequate.[1] Phoenix's sister, Echo, was born 29 April 2001, at which point another CFS assessment was made but no change in custody was ordered.[1] Police responded to a domestic violence call at the family home in June 2001; the couple had reportedly separated by early July 2001, with Steve Sinclair caring for both girls.[1] Echo died of a respiratory infection on 15 July.[2]

As of summer 2001, Phoenix's case had been referred to CFS on several occasions. The agency considered Steve Sinclair to be the "primary caregiver" of record for Phoenix. However, during this period she spent most of her time at the home of Kim Edwards, a family friend. The agency's file on Phoenix was closed in early 2002, but another was opened when Phoenix was hospitalized in February 2003, as medical personnel expressed concerns regarding possible neglect.[2] At the time of her hospitalization, she had had a foreign body (a piece of Styrofoam) lodged in her nose for nearly four months, and staff did not know whether her father would provide her with the necessary antibiotics to deal with the resulting infection.[1] She was taken into custody by CFS in June 2003 and placed in the temporary guardianship of Kim Edwards in early July.[2]

In April 2004, Samantha Kematch took Phoenix from Edwards for what was to be a temporary visit. Around this time, Kematch became involved with Karl "Wes" McKay, and Phoenix began living full-time with the couple; Steve Sinclair left the province to live in Ontario.[2] Phoenix was registered at Wellington School for nursery school in fall 2004, but school personnel reported never encountering either her or Kematch.[1][4] New CFS files were opened for the family in November 2004, when the couple had another baby, and in March 2005 after reports of abuse; both were quickly closed. McKay and Kematch moved to Fisher River Cree Nation in April 2005, taking with them Phoenix, their other child, and a twelve-year-old son of McKay's from a previous relationship; a second son (aged 14) also lived with them occasionally. Another CFS file was opened in May 2005 after someone claiming to be a relative called the agency with concerns of possible neglect.[2]

On 11 June 2005, Phoenix Sinclair died. In the period leading up to her death, she had been physically and verbally abused by both McKay and Kematch. She was made to sleep in a cold basement, was given very little food, and was forced to eat her own vomit. McKay shot her with a BB gun and frequently played a "game" called "choking the chicken" in which he would strangle Phoenix until she lost consciousness. According to his testimony, on the day Phoenix died McKay's 12-year-old son saw his father beat her continuously for over 15 minutes as her mother looked on; when the pair left the house, the boy found that Phoenix was not breathing.[1]

Aftermath
McKay's sons were returned to their mother in Winnipeg by CFS in July 2005.[1] McKay and Kematch also returned to the city with their baby in late 2005, and had a second child together in December; they continued to claim welfare funds for Phoenix, and told acquaintances that the girl was living with her father or another relative. In early March 2006, McKay's sons and their mother reported Phoenix's death to police. McKay and Kematch were arrested after trying to pass off another girl as Phoenix. Phoenix's body was found at the landfill at Fisher River on 18 March. The couple were convicted of first-degree murder in late 2008 and sentenced to life imprisonment.[5] The convictions were later confirmed on appeal.[2] Phoenix was buried in Brookside Cemetery in Winnipeg in April 2009.[6]

An official inquiry into the case of Phoenix Sinclair was announced in October 2006 but was delayed until the completion of legal proceedings against Kematch and McKay. The Manitoba Government and General Employees' Union (MGEU), which represents the social workers employed by CFS, filed a challenge to the province's authority to convene an inquiry on the case in early 2012, but the challenge was dismissed, as was a later attempt to impose a publication ban on the names of the social workers involved. The inquiry officially began on 5 September 2012 but was delayed by further legal challenges; it resumed in November. Further delays arose in February and March 2013 concerning a conflict of interest problem for some lawyers involved and a publication ban on the name of McKay's sons and their mother (which was granted). The inquiry was finally completed in July 2013 and the final report released in January 2014.[2] All told, the inquiry cost between C$10 and 14 million, making it one of the largest and most expensive in Manitoba history.[2][7]

The inquiry report, written by commissioner Ted Hughes, made "62 recommendations for improving the child welfare system and is a call out to address 'deeply rooted' issues".[7] He also recommended changes to the provincial school curricula and to programs for supporting those on welfare, among others.[8] The province of Manitoba announced that it had or was planning to implement many of the suggested changes, and issued a formal apology, stating that "the child welfare system failed Phoenix Sinclair".[7]

Hughes concluded that
To truly honour Phoenix, we need to provide all of Manitoba's children with a good start in life, and offer to the most vulnerable an escape from the cycle of poverty and vulnerability... The public interest that this Inquiry has received encourages me in the belief that achievement of the better protection of all Manitoba's children, and especially the most vulnerable, will be the true legacy of Phoenix Sinclair.[7]

Growing up, Canada always seemed like a wonderful place. Open space, decent healthcare, generally chill. I guess rather like Sweden (which I know very well.)
Its apparent after the last 20 years that you cannot have a civilised country with light penalties for some crimes. Sure - that kid who grew up in a hellhole and ended up dealing drugs and petty crime at 16 - they can maybe be rehabilitated. I’m fine with giving non violent/sexual offenders a chance to serve their time and re enter society after a first crime, if they show remorse and work for it.
But you cannot rehabilitate child molesters. It’s part of who they are. They cannot be rehabilitated ever. A long term solution is needed, such as long sentences then lifetime monitoring.
Also, some crimes are so horrific that they become symbolic. They require severe punishment otherwise society feels that there has been no justice.
In a civilised society, you take away people’s desire to inflict direct retribution and you delegate it to the state. The alternative is blood feuds forever. But this only works if the people feel that the state is fair in their dispensation of justice. If people feel that it’s too harsh, like getting locked up for misgendering, you weaken the state. If people think it’s too lenient, like letting someone who decapitated and ate parts of someone on a bus just walk free, you weaken the state. Someone who has had one episode of psychosis that bad will have another one in all likelihood. They should be locked up long term in secure psychiatric care.
If justice is not seen as fair, it’s one of the biggest forces to destroy a country. You start off with vigilantes and it goes downhill from there.
Canada’s ridiculous pandering to unhinged individuals of all types is weakening it.

Lol at yankees getting all hysterical about few Canadian criminals, when the overall rate of violent crime in your own country is several magnitudes higher.

Canada's main issue is you can literally be paid money by the government, sit in government funded houses to post your opinion on Kiwi Farms for a living. Canada is filled with both slackers and hard workers which makes this Ying-Yang happen. In short they need their equivalent of Uncle Sam to kick them in the ass and get productive because living is too easy if you're a fat fuck mongoloid to the point where you don't need to do anything except hand in an income statement at the end of the month.

Yes, just like in every Scandinavian country. The thing is, here in the north, where winter really is winter, it's much preferrable to give enough for the poor so that they don't start to die in the streets when it's cold. Not only because it's bad for the general morale to see homeless freezing to death half of the year, but also because in that way the poor of the society are quite docile and practice much less criminal activities than they would do should their position be more desperate. This is the real reason behind the social welfare states, in my opinion, and I've had ample time to analyze this as I live in one.

Years ago I went skiing in Whistler (BC) and ate at an expensive restaurant on top of the mountain there. I wanted to try something unique and local, so I ordered Poutine. It was the first time in my life I'd had it...
It was also the last time. I knew after the first bite that something was seriously wrong with any country that could like that slime.
Not only does Canidurp like poutine, they take pride in it.
Canadians also invented, and are somehow proud of, the Caesar cocktail, which contains vodka, tomato juice, clam broth, hot sauce and Worcestershire sauce and is served with ice in a celery salt-rimmed glass and garnished with celery and lime. It looks as disgusting as it sounds.

Really all Poutine is, is just chili cheese fries. Just replace the chili with gravy. That's it.

No I mean the system allows people to sit on social assistance and eat steak dinners regularly. This is an issue because it's telling people why work legitimately. Any cock fiend can collect a cheque and work under the table part time and achieve the same level of income as an experienced factory worker except they get it for free. This in my opinion is a slight problem and breeds lazyness.

I know very well what this system allows. But, do consider that poor people with bellies full of food and heads full of beer and cheap entertainment are easier to govern than poor people who are needy and desperate. In essence, here in the northern welfare states the elites and the middle class buy their peaceful society(as these societies indeed are peaceful, compared to almost all other forms of government) by paying their poor to silence. It's not a flaw in the system, but a design feature, is all I'm saying.

The people that don't work/socialize are the most anti-government people you can meet because they spend a lot of time sitting at home watching and reading about conspiracy theories while the rest of their functional family thinks they are a crackpot.

Yes, and then when the elections come, they go to vote for social democratic politics who promise to keep the welfare state up and running. Which essentially means almost all politicians in these kind of countries, even those who are namely "right-wing". And by sitting home watching youtube videos they are essentially doing what these politicians want them to do; something else than crime or social unrest.

That doesn't mean it is the best option though...

A country that is focusing more on providing its non-working citizens steak dinners will not survive in the 21st century, seeing as how things seem to be heating up.
