There's so much news about North Korea right now and what Un is doing, I got a suggestion for a NK megathread, so here it is. Post the world's greatest nation's antics here. I'm merging a few of the more recent threads to continue discussion.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in has pushed for a new plan for a rapid war with North Korea and an overhaul of the country's defense industry to overwhelm and crush the North's government, the South Korean newspaper The Chosun Ilbo reported Tuesday.

Moon took office in May promising to attempt to engage diplomatically with North Korea and seek peace, but in the months since, the North has provoked the international community with missile tests at a blistering pace.

For some time, South Korea has been training a "decapitation force," reportedly with the help of the US Navy's SEAL Team 6, but now an increasingly bold North Korea may demand quicker action.

South Korea's new plan identifies more than 1,000 targets for precision missile fires and sites for marines to drop in and quickly kill North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, the paper reported.

The plan represents a more independent version of South Korea's current plan, which relies on support from US aircraft carriers. As it stands, no major military commander recommends military action against North Korea, which has a staggering array of conventional — and potentially nuclear — weapons pointed at Seoul, where 26 million call home.

But South Korea's new plan to quickly and decisively dominate the North relies on reforming the defense-acquisition process and cutting out wasteful spending to wield the full might of its economic dominance against Pyongyang, according to the report. For that reason, don't expect the plan to take effect anytime soon.

Anyone here see Secret State, Inside North Korea yet? It was showing off a lot of shit inside of NK no one had seen before. It was pretty neat.
There's been a few such doc's that have explored the side of NK they would never disclose to the world outside of one or two brave people who smuggled out footage depicting the average life of its citizens during or after the famine, often highlighting the incompetence of the government for change, the executions of citizens for robbing food and the taking of food meant to be distributed to the people from the UN and other organizations and giving it to the army instead. This was what often shut out many non-profit organizations from trying to even talk with the NK government when it comes to relief aid of any kind that can't be dealt with freely.

I admire their nonchalance in the face of total of madness, but should they not be just the slightest bit worried about one of those missiles fucking up, and landing in Japan, despite Porky's intentions? The Norks aren't exactly known for their quality control.

They always purposefully aim them over land/territory that is basically uninhabited and they're mostly missile tests, so they don't have a nuclear payload on them. It's basically just a really big flying piece of metal.

Which is why they should have dealt with it years ago. But it's too late now- The US and South Korea (and their allies) don't want to talk with Kim, and vice versa. They either need to step up their game and fast, or risk having a fat, cheese eating dictator not only threatening the livelyhood of Americans, South Koreans and the Japanese. But possibly the rest of the world, China included, down the line. Economics wouldn't matter when half the world's population is a smoldering crater of ash.

As I said, it seems the only reason they haven't turned on China yet is because Fatso knows he'd be disposed of right away. But otherwise, there's next to nothing stopping him from trying. Sanctions, negotiations, war or potential radiation leaks be damned.

Fatso also knows nobody is going to first strike him. The problem is there will be more and more pressure on Russia and China, who are acting like faggots, trying to push the blame on the US. Yeah, lets see how you'd react when you had a nuclear armed enemy threatening 2 close allies you fucking cunts. They would have already caused WWIII by now. And the international community knows this. China is already being painted as impotent over controlling NK, so there's really no reason to trust that they can do anything to control the situation anymore.

The US is tired of the sanction dance and you probably have DARPA and the Pentagon working 24/7 to try to figure out a first strike solution that doesn't involve a massive global economic crisis, WWIII or massive casualties to US allies. But there isn't going to be one. The real question is what to do is when fatty's grip on power starts slipping and his generals start believing they are on par with the US. North Korea, if it wasn't surrounded by US allies (Even if China was there, we'd just tell China to mind its fucking business while we take care of the problem) would not even be a question at this point. It would have been utterly, utterly rolled.

The only solution is to act like NK is an unassailable keep and go to medieval siege warfare mode: starve them out. Put the harshest sanctions imaginable. Take the screws to China and force them to do it with diplomatic pressure. Same with Russia.

You also have the problem that Russia and China are looking to eliminate the petro dollar, the world's reserve currency, which makes them much less inclined to cooperate with us (though I would honestly laugh my ass off if the oil and gas companies had like fuel making algae as a trump card and once the reserve dollar was gone, just fucking crash the oil market into the ground).

Haven't they been saying that several of the recent bombs contain those hydrogen bombs within? I feel like that should be something to be fearful over. Moreso if they're landing in the ocean.

Again, that's why they should have done it almost a decade ago, if not longer, but didn't. China has next to no (proper) allies outside the Norks, Ruskies and Cubans (who want nothing to do with this). And with the Norks being one of their unruly neighbors, perhaps more than India at this point. It's telling where their priorities are.

I know I shouldn't be surprised that Russia and China won't crack down harder on Kim and his regime because the US influence. But if they really want to rein them in, why not just handle it themselves, and if the refugees try to cross either of their borders, just shoot them. It's really not that hard to do. And if it's because the US influence, then why not just come up with a deal that satisfies them? That's why America wants China to deal with it.

China's being extremely exceptional in this situation, and they don't realize that they need to take as much responsibility with the US. I mean they accepted the previous sanctions, so why be a pussy when they really need to punish their neighbors for being just as exceptional?

Certianly should've been done before the first Kim passed on, or at least before the end of the past century.

No. They've just been saying that the bombs can now fit inside those missiles, not that they've been shooting them around.

If that was the case we'd be getting pictures of the underwater nuke explosions and of Abrams rolling through Kaesong by now.

I don't think that's the case, although the idea that he's actually tried to nuke Japan repeatedly now and not only failed but nobody noticed while he pissed away his bomb supply would be pretty funny.

I mean, how many bombs does he have again? Less than 100 right now? I'd laugh if he doomed himself even before it all began.

Mind, it's only a pipe dream, but with talks about the North Korean Supervolcano and the potential radiation leak they've been detecting. He may have signed his own death warrant even without the US and China being involved.

imagine fucking up so badly that not only the rest of the international community wants your ass on a platter, but the earth itself is getting increasingly liable to kill you too.:lol:

The estimates are that they have enriched enough material to create between 20-60 weapons. These would be fission weapons. This past test was their first successful fusion, aka hydrogen, weapon. The device tested before is believed to be an attempt at one that failed iirc. The Norks also claim the previous test was miniaturized as well. They released a photo-op of a shell that looked like a warhead, but only the DIA claims that they have the capability to produce actual payloads afaik. There are conflicting opinions. Now that they have a design that works, they have to miniaturize so it can be carried by a missile. Then they have to get it on the missile. Then they have to get the missile to successfully launch, separate from the warhead, and have the warhead to survive reentry. They haven't gotten that right with dummy warheads yet.

While they've been having some successful tests in the past decade, they've also had a bunch of failures too. They're decades behind everyone else in terms of rocketry. I haven't read anything on what the Norks have done as far as countermeasures to ensure payload delivery. These last and final steps may only take a few years or they could take longer. There is a lot unknown because of the secrecy of the project and of course the classified nature of intelligence.

I forget, don't h-bombs need a regular fission explosion to get them started?

Yeah. That's why when they claimed to have detonated an H-bomb last year everyone was just like "lol only the first stage went off idiots".

edit: Should have said "lol we know only the first stage went off idiots" because the Norks obviously knew it didn't detonate fully. The propaganda was just Norks being Norks.

As much as I hate to be on the Trump train in any way, we have had exactly the same strategy toward North Korea for something like 70 years and it not only hasn't done shit, but this pudgy little cocksucker has done nothing but get more mouthy and aggressive.

It's well past overdue for a change of tone.

I forget, don't h-bombs need a regular fission explosion to get them started?

Yes. A fusion reaction would be a practical impossibility at present to start "cold" (as in, "cold fusion"), so a fission explosion is used to jump start the process.

The fissioning uses conventional explosives to trigger a fission reaction, which in the process results in a chain reaction of material such as tritium that continues to build upon the initial fission reaction to turn into a fusion weapon.

In short, atoms are split so they can then fuse, using radioactive material that is conducive to chain reactions as a spark plug for the fusion reaction.

Kuwait gives North Korea envoy a month to leave: diplomat

Kuwait City (AFP) - US ally Kuwait has given North Korea's ambassador a month to leave the Gulf state and will downgrade its diplomatic representation with Pyongyang, a senior Kuwaiti diplomat told AFP Sunday.

North Korea's diplomatic presence in the emirate will also be reduced to a charge d'affaires and three diplomats, the source told AFP, requesting anonymity.

The measures follow a visit less than two weeks ago by Kuwait Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad Al-Sabah to Washington.

The source said Kuwait will not renew permits given to North Korean workers to re-enter the country after projects they are currently working on are completed "within one or two years".

There are between 2,000 and 2,500 North Korean workers in Kuwait, and thousands more are believed to be working in other Gulf states.

Kuwait has also decided to stop issuing visas to North Koreans and suspend all trade relations and flight links with Pyongyang.

Asian diplomatic sources have told AFP that South Korea and Japan have been putting pressure on Gulf states to stop employing North Korean workers because money they sent home was benefiting the regime.

On Friday, North Korea fired a ballistic missile over Japan and into the Pacific, responding to new UN sanctions with what appeared to be its furthest-ever missile flight amid high tensions over its weapons programme.

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres condemned the missile test, and said talks on the crisis would be held on the sidelines of the General Assembly meeting next week.

US President Donald Trump and his South Korean counterpart Moon Jae-In have pledged "stronger pressure" on Pyongyang, Seoul said Sunday, after North Korea defied tough new sanctions with the test and said it wanted to match American nuclear strength.

They're gonna have a bad time.
