There's so much news about North Korea right now and what Un is doing, I got a suggestion for a NK megathread, so here it is. Post the world's greatest nation's antics here. I'm merging a few of the more recent threads to continue discussion.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in has pushed for a new plan for a rapid war with North Korea and an overhaul of the country's defense industry to overwhelm and crush the North's government, the South Korean newspaper The Chosun Ilbo reported Tuesday.

Moon took office in May promising to attempt to engage diplomatically with North Korea and seek peace, but in the months since, the North has provoked the international community with missile tests at a blistering pace.

For some time, South Korea has been training a "decapitation force," reportedly with the help of the US Navy's SEAL Team 6, but now an increasingly bold North Korea may demand quicker action.

South Korea's new plan identifies more than 1,000 targets for precision missile fires and sites for marines to drop in and quickly kill North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, the paper reported.

The plan represents a more independent version of South Korea's current plan, which relies on support from US aircraft carriers. As it stands, no major military commander recommends military action against North Korea, which has a staggering array of conventional — and potentially nuclear — weapons pointed at Seoul, where 26 million call home.

But South Korea's new plan to quickly and decisively dominate the North relies on reforming the defense-acquisition process and cutting out wasteful spending to wield the full might of its economic dominance against Pyongyang, according to the report. For that reason, don't expect the plan to take effect anytime soon.

This is Nelson Shin's life's work, people. Honor him!

I still wonder why they didn't stick that film out on DVD yet? I've been looking for that sucker for years, I guess Shin's pretty protective of it (like the way Disney used to be with their features before home video showed up).
Maybe he reconsidered over time? I know he won't be doing it now that Un's in power and all.

Apparently the North Koreans are attempting to steal bitcoins for money. No, seriously.

Why wouldn't they?

Stealing Bitcoins is a great way of bypassing any sanctions, because cryptocurrency does not give a shit where it's going or where it came from.

Currently, North Korea is facing flat-out inability to connect to the international banking system because sanctions are getting that hard. Even Chinese banks are cutting them off.

The Brits suspect Iran or Russia might have been helping out the Norks all along.

Personally, I think Iran would be the likely culprit unless Russia's been pulling a :ruse: of their own with the rest of the world.

My money is more on Russia more than Iran, Russia has been known for a lot of underhand Officially Unofficial acts for a long time they have a lot of built up knowledge from the cold war that lot's of little despot nations want. It's a nice little under the table earner for them and a useful source of slush money for what ever they want to do but keep of the radar of the international community.

This it's also a nice way of building a more anonymous rainy day "had to do a runner" fund, The Kim family has been trying to build lot's of this sort of funds all over the world but based not just on cash in banks that can be tracked down and access cut off from but by buying goods and just storing them and then liquidating them as needed. Bit Coin is brilliant for this because it has no physical asset you need to store and manage and you can memorise the details to access them quite easily.

There is a group of SK and NK defectors that tracks this kind of activities and NK shipping and provide a live map of activity they can 100% verify is NK and bitcoin has been on thereradar for a long time.

I'm pretty sure it's Ukraine that sold missile tech, the nork engines are very similar looking to the Ukraine's and due to the sanctions against Russia, they lost their main buyer (Russia decided to rebuild it's turbine and rocket factories due to not being able to buy from Ukraine anymore).

Also due to the war in donbass the ukrainian economy is in deep shit and I doubt they will join the EU anytime soon.

The Ukraine isn't part of this, they are trying to westernise there tech as best as they can to sever ties with Russia, I wouldn't put it past Russia to use the Russian allied area (that still counts as the Ukraine) to help muddy the waters some what. But the weapons tech is similar because it's based on old cold war designs that have been resold to NK after 3 or 4 translations an generational copys.

In every picture the psychotic hobbit is either looking at something or pointing at something. Does fearless leader not do candids, or is his self confidence so low that he has to always "Appear" in charge?

There is a rich tradition of filming the leader of DPRK looking at things.
