I lost interest when it was clear it wasn't going to have any form of MP (a day into the PS4 release) despite what developers were insinuating during interviews. What is the fun of this game if you can't play with other people? It sounds like you just gather resources to upgrade your ship which is mostly done through mining but CAN be done through commerce or destroying and looting trade ships. Is that all?

Aside from exploration shit, yeah. There may be some sort of story though progenitor race runes, but I doubt it amounts to much.

This game looked neat, but it wasn't something that made me rush out to buy a ps4 for, and after hearing all the bad things about it I probably won't be picking it up at all when I eventually do get the system.

The PC version is getting completely ripped to shreds on Steam and Metacritic by users. There appears to be a lot of framerate and performance issues this side of Batman: Arkham Knight. When a bunch of people are calling it "No Man's Lag" or "No Man's PC Able to Handle It", it's not a good sign.

Here's a video version from everyone's favorite Steam reviewer/cuck Jim Sterling which shows many of the aforementioned issues.

Yeah, it looks kinda cool, but definitely needs more time to work out the kinks.

It looks and feels like a Beta build.
Yup.

Just lost 4 hours of gameplay, my only hours logged. I know for a fact I saved at at least 15 of those different outposts. Came back after a break and had to start the entire thing over again.

I really want to like this, but it's so fucking unfinished feeling in almost every department (graphics do some questionable popping that I haven't really seen since the late 90's, frame rate literally dips down to single digits, terrible UI design, seriously you name it, this game has probably executed it in a sub par way).

Framerate was much more stable after I removed the 30fps cap. Which was weird. My biggest gripes are the poor combat (ship combat particularly) and the woefully small inventory space. It can be upgraded through buying extra suit slots and getting a better ship but both things get pretty expensive. As soon as you've opened a few crates or collected some resources you'll be greeted by a computerised voice screaming that your inventory is full, the constant interruptions to manage it get irritating very fast.
I found a funny giant yellow dinosaur on an acid death planet though, that was pretty cool.

Saw a friend stream it on PC when he played it for the first time yesterday. Nearly two hours of Minecraft-meets-Skyrim walking and resource mining later, he finally managed to refuel his ship and - upon the game not giving him the option to just re-position the ship closer to where the fuel stock was so he could top off because it wouldn't let him land - travel off to a very TRON like space station...only for the game to suddenly indicate he needed to go back to that planet because of some signal relay, which activated only pointed to some other location, at which point he stopped the stream to take a break. I passed on wanting to continue watching when he got back on.

And when I said this thing felt like Minecraft-meets-Skyrim, I really mean it. All that really happened was firing a laser into things to mine them, a computer voice repeatedly screeching about falling vital levels at 75% capacity remaining or storage space limitations (which given you could just teleport crap to the ship from the get go made no sense why it wouldn't just DO that for you), and walking around with damn near nothing of interest whatsoever. About the only interesting thing that happened a few times was robot drones spawning if you mined too much (read: five trees in a row so you can refill the thermal protection or whatever)...who you just shot with the same laser to kill and pretty much mine metal off of in the process anyway. And this took two hours not because the guy was doddling, but because there was just so much tedious resource gathering and dragging from one grid to another, and at no point was there some option of simply 'repair/refuel all' to skip having to individually manage repetitive processes. And the fuel resource was unreasonably distant from the ship without a fast travel option either way. Felt like it was the worst way to try and make what was effectively a tutorial intro segment immersive.

I have to admit, I kinda like it. It's got a very chilled roguelike vibe to it. I play elite dangerous too, and the two games combined scratch very different itches - I like elite's determined 'realism' (we'll overlook the lack of Newtonian mechanics for now), but no man's sky has a very relaxing feel to it. Sure, mining is dog slow and resource management is a bit tedious, but there's a very unhurried approach to the game which I like.

Would this count as a powerlevel? Maybe.
I have two friends. One who hasn't played the game and merely watched Totalbiscuit's view on it. He hates it.
The other, a mutual, who actually played it and loves it, and he's super into artsy games. He loves the visuals, collecting, and learning more about other alien races, such as their language. He never bought into the hype train, so he barely had any expectations.

I've noticed those who really hate the fuck out of game is either a YouTuber, or hasn't even played the game yet. And honestly, comparing it to Minecraft is a bit of a stretch. If anything, compare it to Starbound.

It looks fun but I gotta wait the worst bugs to be ironed out. Definitely chill looking.

I love this game. I don't care that it doesn't have multiplayer, I didn't get it to see other people. Yeah having a group of friends flying around would be cool but I got this because of exploration, and it gives that in droves.
