First libreddit. Now Nitter. Companies seems to be clamping down on alt front ends. It'll be a sad day once google starts clamping down on youtube. Not if, but when.

Yes I know libreddit is limping along. But for how long idk.

They eventually want all your info linked to a single profile. Personal, medical, shitpost, etc.

Someone forked Libreddit to Redlib, which works exactly like the old Libreddit instances. From what I've read, most functioning Libreddit instances switched to RedLib without updating the name. You can add them as custom instances to LibRedirect.
 
I thought Redlib was just the rename of the project. I remember seeing people saying libreddit needed a new name.

Is that what he's saying? I find it hard to parse the retarded shit he says, but it just sounds like Xitter finally closed the door on Nitter and guest viewing in general. The only way around it would be using dummy accounts that'll get rapidly rate limited and banned.

At this point The Website Formerly Known as Twitter is openly hostile to anyone attempting to circumvent their dogshit UI and Facebook-tier walled garden. I can't get behind Elon given how much he has trashed the user experience.

People using things like nitter are a very small part of the problem. The main problem is scraping which is why other sites have been locking down access as well. Twitter likely would have done this if Musk didn't purchase the company. Scraping is a huge issue with sites now with companies' selling data derived from these sites.

I agree, and more broadly feel that about all social media, but it has been a lot of fun watching Dear Sneeder shit talk a bunch of people since he got his account back. Especially fat street-shitter Jackie Singh.

I choose to remain whitepilled on this and say it will be a good thing because it will kill a lot of these platforms dead, or at least help a lot of people excise the tumour of social media.

Maybe it's overly optimistic to hope the majority of people would tell them to fuck off if all these sites started demanding real ID, but hopefully enough would that it would put a serious dent in their monopolization of the Internet.

Wanted to pay respects to one of my goto frontends for viewing xeets (formally tweets) on the Twatter.

The simple reason is that they want you to make an account to use these sites, but my (schizo) theory this might be an issue to prevent effective archiving on Social Media as Screenshots, cache or eyewitness is gonna be the only way to confirm what's posted.

Take advantage of the methods available right now until they block them through various methods.

Overly optimistic indeed. Europoors already provide government ID and a phone number to Facebook or, in Youtube's case, gov ID/credit card for age verification.

Mind you, the same people that provide the above to corpos also think it's too much of a hassle to use an adblocker.

Those aren't currently mandatory though. Still complete bullshit, obviously, but I wonder how the turns would table if you had to provide real ID just to access YouTube, like what the UK was threatening to do with porn a while back.
