Ayyyyy this is going to be comfy. Is this a reskin or a new game? Wikipedia tells me it is a port of A-Train 9. But I'm never 100% sure with them.
All Aboard Tourism is its own thing and therefore seems to be the most accessible and polished among the titles within the franchise.
A-Train 9 is extremely barebones, so your choice as a newcomer would be either the Switch game or the PC Classic game

Why not both?

And let's hope R34 catches up. Fuuuuuuuug.

I'm curious about Saga Frontier. Exactly how many characters can join and does it matter what character you pick?

I'm curious how long it will take people to realize the game is shit and get mad that they were suckered into spending $25 for a game that was, rightly, universally reviled upon release.

I decided to dig into it, In terms of normal people opinions, I cannot find any evidence to your claim that it was outright reviled rather than simply being ignored for being a very niche RPG. In terms of critic-based opinions, it's only really low one was the 1/5 review from Next Generation Magazine(Everything else was around 70-80%). It especially seemed to be well-liked in Japan, being the 5th highest selling PS1 game in 1997 and the 15th highest selling overall, which is probably why SaGa Frontier 2 exists.

The SaGa series is being ported/remade like crazy lately because a mobile game based on the series did really well in Japan, revitalizing interest in the franchise. They recently announced that they also plan to remaster Romancing SaGa 1(since for some reason they only did 2 and 3 so far), SaGa Frontier 2, and even Unlimited SaGa(which unlike SaGa Frontier was actually very much hated outside of Japan for it's bizarre and poorly-explained Reel system). A completely new game is also planned.

The only RPG remake I truly cannot comprehend is the DS remake of the PS1 game Hoshigami: Ruining Blue Earth. No-one cared about that game in ANY part of the world, yet not only was a remake made but it was released outside of Japan(The original version was too, for the record). No one was clamoring for it, like at all. It doesn't even have a small but dedicated fanbase, it's just one of the many forgettable low-budget RPGs made by a small company.

I think you're thinking of Unlimited SaGa.

That one was hated and nobody could figure out the battle system because actions were mislabeled and then mistranslated.

No, its was released during the time when Square could do no wrong and they were churning out hit after hit. Brave Fencer Musashi. Einhander. FFVII. FF Tactics. Etc. Then Saga Frontier came out and everybody was like "what is this shit?"

I think you got your timeline screwed up. Here are all of the the PS1 games made by Sqauresoft before SaGa Frontier came out:

-Tobal No. 1
-Final Fantasy VII
-Pro-Logic Mah-Jong Hai-Shin
-Bushido Blade
-Final Fantasy IV
-Power Stakes
-Tobal 2
-Digital League
-Final Fantasy Tactics

Everything else for the system came out after it.

I hope the rumors are true for the Monster Hunter Individual Monster Themed Pro Controllers, since the default monster hunter controller looks like ass because it's a regular switch controller with a gold MH design.

It's also being scalped for like 150 bucks, but I'd defiantly buy a colored controller with a Zinogre, Rathalos, or Narg theme.

New Nintendo Direct, filled with indies, as usual.

The sole things that caught my interest on that stream were TMNT and The House of the Dead remake. A separate trailer has shown it still kept the original cheesy voice-acting at least. I find funny the japanese Indie directs are much better in terms of game lineups overall but also how they expose them by focusing on the gameplay mechanics firstmost (which is better imo rather than filling the airing time with faces of the devs and their nice guy persona on camera).

Ender Lillies looks pretty cool there while it merely got a mention at the end of the north america/european stream

Well that's wrong. Their systems have been of a pretty high build quality despite using Chinese manufacturing.

The DS line in particular is very rugged especially considering all of the tech crammed into it and the GameCube, Wii and Wii U were very well built and durable. Even the Switch unit itself is pretty darn good as a hybrid machine.

Controllers? We can talk. Nintendo has opted for inferior restrictor gate designs since the Wii U and their gyro controls are hit and miss. And I have no idea how they've managed to fuck up analog sticks. You boil the water and open the packet You stick the plastic bit on the potentiometer. Not rocket science guys wtf?
Until you look at the thinness. Look at how thick any other pad is, then look at the joycons. The PSP was thicker and it had a nub, the closes example you have is a Vita, and that's what, 2x the Z space allowed?
