The 3DS one was pretty bland, though having to play hours of such a grindy game on a tiny screen would make anyone tune out. Hopefully the new game has more QOL features.
I found the 3DS game fairly relaxing to play. I enjoyed it probably more than I should have so I'm willing to drop money for the next installment. The main page for the game does list new information as to what's coming.

As for QOL, the Level-5 is listing job quick changing in the open world so you don't have to constantly run back and forth from an area of the game and a license center. I know that was a big pain point for the 3DS entry.

Well us arcade paypigs are eating well.

yfw Earthbound and Super Metroid are stuck on that gay rental service thing: :'( 🔫

On the topic of Sakurai (via https://readwrite.com/masahiro-sakurai-super-smash-bros-dolby-surround-story/):

Sakurai said that Arcade Archives maker Hamster Corporation should shorten the time it takes to boot the games, to more properly deliver that arcade-style feeling of going machine-to-machine and getting into a game immediately.

“Rather than just tossing in a coin and getting into the game immediately, you must click an icon, wait for the logo, wait for the title, look at the instructions screen, wait until everything loads, and then you’re finally at the main screen, after which you can start playing,” Sakurai said, according to a translation.

Sakurai considers all of this such an abuse of the player’s attention that he threw out Dolby Surround from Kirby Air Ride because it added two seconds to the game’s boot screen.
This is a man with ideas, with vision. I do not like having to wait second upon second before I get to play my game.

I ended up not liking Ultimate but there's really no way to compete with it on roster size. I wish them well on whatever they do (and turn down the fucking particle effects, can't even see what's going on in fights.)
Final Destination was even worse on Wii U, there was like a solar flare that would happen and blind you during battle. It was retarded. Just bring back Melee's FD.

But this is a Satellaview game. Nintendo rarely, if ever even acknowledges that the Satellaview existed. But now they are.

So I am going to say that the release of Sutte Hakkun is confirmation that we are getting a fourth Famicom Detective Club game with the content from the FDC Satellaview mystery.
It'd be great if they translated the Satellaview Zelda games.

Unironically this. My attention span is non-existent. He's got the right idea, immediacy is an underrated element of game design.

Nintendo has historically been a few years late with gaming trends, both good and bad. They probably have another successful generation left in them while Playstation and Xbox fade into irrelevance before the nu-execs realize they can make a shitton of money by just dumping their games on PC.
Nintendo's experiments with smartphone games I thought might yield some changed minds when it came to actual games on computer, but I guess not.

Part of me believes that they'll struggle to create a better user experience than what emulators and source ports currently offer, short of offering full ports of Switch games.

Nintendo’s justification for mobile was that A) it would allow them to make types of games that would be less suited for traditional consoles, and B) those games would entice a new audience to experience the “main attraction” on consoles. PC games would just be “buy our game without needing to be tied to our console/ecosystem” unless they wanted to make something that absolutely needed a keyboard.

That's what they effectively did with Mario Teaches Typing and a few other titles (Pokémon got some educational software and Pokémon Project Studio which like the game you had to use both to get all the 'mons).

Nintendo only did smartphone apps due to investor demands.

Apps were big in the early-mid 2010s, and Nintendo was struggling with the Wii U and 3DS. At first, they tried to do more app-like 3DS ware (Pokemon Trozie, Team Kirby Clash, etc..) before pivoting to phones for more sales for investors. The farther we got into the Switch, the more obvious it is that the apps had no purpose beyond short-term investor engagement. They slowed down significantly after the switch launch, with many going under. As of now, Dragalia Lost, Dr. Mario and Mittomo are dead, Mario Kart Tour, Animal Crossing, and Mario Run are dead beyond complete server closure, leaving only FE and Pikmin still active.

Given the switch's success, I doubt any more apps are in the pipeline.

Pokemon Go and Unite are still around too.

That Tweet doesn't mention game reveals. I'm sure there will be some games on show, but if it's primarily a hardware showcase that's light on games then that would indicate a Christmas launch.

I bet Sony does a yuge price drop for Easter.
2nd of April is clever date as well, because nobody would believe the first of April.
