If not by DLSS, then I hope we at least get actual performance improvements like with Yuzu/Ryujinx (🌈, I know).
I don't doubt there will be upgrade patches for higher native resolution or uncapped framerates or enhanced effects. The fact a lot of games are already quite scalable on emulators shows how well it could work, and games like Metroid Prime Remastered and the Xenoblade titles have unused config settings that could push the graphics further, like MSAA on Metroid Prime or improved effects and lighting on Xenoblade. Tears of the Kingdom has resolution scaling with FSR1 upscaling, its likely they could lift the res and disable the scaling and FSR entirely, maybe even uncap to 60fps. There were reports from a while ago about Nintendo showing Breath of the Wild behind closed doors running at 4k 60fps on the new hardware, which sounds believable even without DLSS

Maybe Game Freak can finally make their own open world game that'll miraculously won't crash if it's been running for too long
Or maybe they collapse into bankruptcy and have to sell off their rights to making Pokemon games to a better studio. Both seem equally likely.

I see a type-c port and I presume a SD card reader on the bottom, but what's that port on top? it's only slightly bigger then a Type-C port and way too small for a game cartridge (unless Nintendo is making the cartridges the size of a sim card and dropping support for Switch cartridges)
I think that's another USB-C port, with the perspective and orientation making them look different.

The big thing on the bottom left is clearly the game cartridge reader. And they would need that to advertise backwards compatibility.

I assume the microSD is supposed to go on the reverse somewhere and isn't in the leak pics. It would be epic if they make it support SDUC (the mostly unused standard that supports up to 128 TiB).

Power is around Xbox Series S, a bit weaker overall but more RAM (I forget the exact SOC it’s supposedly using)
It almost certainly won’t be, because of power consumption constraints, but Nintendo actually knows how to use art styling to their advantage, so it’ll be fine. It does have more and better RAM (like you said.)

The shipping manifest had a 1080p screen, and a recent Nintendo patent detailed upscaling from 540 to 1080 and upscaling 1080 to 4K, so that’s the path it will probably take.

Pics of production Switch 2 joy-cons have leaked. I won't bother linking, they look identical to what you'd think. Light blue and orange the potential default colors this time.

Looks like they're definitely in production now, should be a late spring/early summer launch.

This just looks like the mainboard, and excludes any daughterboards. In the Switch 1, the MicroSD reader is separate.

Seems like they're going the way of soldered on storage, though. A shame, but guess they didn't like people giving the OLED storage upgrade to old Switches.

Why is Xenoblade Chronicles X Switch port not listed on Amazon yet? Is this like a LimitedRun Games type thing? Mario Party Jamboree goes up and down in price too I noticed. One time it was regular 59.99 then it jumped to 75.00
XCX is listed for me on Amazon so it might be a region thing maybe?

I'm definitely not buying through Amazon though. I've pre-ordered games through them multiple times and most of the time they claim they can delivery it on release day but a few days before they will suddenly change it and it ends up being days after. There's other reputable places online that at least deliver on a release day delivery unlike them.

Magnet-attaching I assume? Hope it's strong enough to not come off when you suddenly shift your handheld mightily during a moment of rage.
There's still the release latch on top, it's actually bigger than the dinky button on the old joycons.

The jump in power is going to be noticeable and that's all that really matters, especially for a hybrid console with Nintendo 1st party games.
At this point you're better off just getting a handheld PC instead of a switch 2. Nintendo was far too complacent and Valve capitalized on their niche.

I'm sorry to say it but game freak's games looking awful and being full of visual bugs isn't a hardware problem.
It's a sorry combination of their ambition not matching their talent, plus the Pokemon Company rushing their shit to meet a deadline. When they're given proper time to work on things you get games like Legends Arceus (graphics aside), but when they don't...

Even PLA was loaded with problems. I sure loved having to load back to the main town just to immediately load a different map when I wanted to move between zones. And I loved having being warped five feet away when asking the wrong character to warp home. Oh yeah, and all of the trees being placed improperly in the ground at launch was great too. What a fucking game, at least it was fun unlike the unmitigated disaster that was S/V.

What's really the draw of the Switch 2 at the end of the day? I've been thinking. I highly suspect Metroid Prime 4 (the only upcoming game I give a shit about) will be a multi-platform launch window title for Switch 2. Yet, I haven't really seen anything official (or leaked for that matter) to make me "excited" for Switch 2 at all. It's clearly an iterative console, Nintendo printed more fiat than the FED ponzi these last 8 years, so I didn't expect Wii waggle 2.0 or the second coming of the virtual boy... but what actually IS there with Switch 2 to get me in the door? Backwards compatibility is very nice, but I see nothing of the horizon besides MP4.

Nintendo clearly going the iterative route means they have to go as hard as possible on new games, at least that's what I'm hoping. But, I can't think of anything besides 3D Mario or the mythic FE4 remake that would even get me to look in Switch 2's direction. I care not about online, for the most part, and I already have all the best classic games on all the best emulators for free, so I give a fuck about the VC. I'm not paying for subscriptions anymore. The games I have on my Switch are all Mario and Metroid aside from the ringer Unicorn Overlord earlier this year. There aren't many 3rd party releases I could speculate about, which only makes the content well drier.

When I think about how we've been playing games on this type of hardware since 2017... by the end of the Switch 2's life we'll be at like 15 years of playing games "the Switch way". Could you imagine playing an N64 for 15 years? With the economy grinding to a halt, even I am struggling to find a consoomer excuse to buy a Switch 2...
