What strikes me as strange is that when Nintendo sends a takedown notice, people comply outright. Nobody challenges them. Nintendo, whose wallets are ever tightened, pennies constantly pinched, gets to steamroll their way all over their most dedicated fans with minimal effort. In some cases, like Pokemon Uranium, they quit exclusively out of fear, not because Nintendo sent them a letter. What would happen if somebody actually pushed back? At what point would the benefit be overshadowed by the investment, for Nintendo?bunnei (main Yuzu developer) just made a statement in the Discord server:

Hello yuz-ers and Citra fans:
We write today to inform you that yuzu and yuzu’s support of Citra are being discontinued, effective immediately.
yuzu and its team have always been against piracy. We started the projects in good faith, out of passion for Nintendo and its consoles and games, and were not intending to cause harm. But we see now that because our projects can circumvent Nintendo’s technological protection measures and allow users to play games outside of authorized hardware, they have led to extensive piracy. In particular, we have been deeply disappointed when users have used our software to leak game content prior to its release and ruin the experience for legitimate purchasers and fans.
We have come to the decision that we cannot continue to allow this to occur. Piracy was never our intention, and we believe that piracy of video games and on video game consoles should end. Effective today, we will be pulling our code repositories offline, discontinuing our Patreon accounts and Discord servers, and, soon, shutting down our websites. We hope our actions will be a small step toward ending piracy of all creators’ works.
Thank you for your years of support and for understanding our decision.
The Github repo is also completely fucking gone since half an hour or so. Fuck Nintendo.
Disregard this, I may possibly suck cocks. All the channels on Citra’s Discord are getting locked one by one, and a mod said Citra is “going the way of Yuzu”. But they also said Citra already deleted all their tweets, which they didn’t.Citra isn’t shutting down, these specific devs just aren’t going to work on it anymore (for what it’s worth).
The 3DS' single player mode and Smash Run is IMO way better than that board game shit the WiiU was doing.Smash felt interchangeable between the two consoles
3D >>>>>>>>>>>>> New. Both Land and World are pretty top notch in their gameplay and level design. The "NEW" series relied on the new power-ups each game offered so they built the levels around them... sorta. They're still pretty stale. The Gold Mario gimmic was the only new power-up I actually enjoyed. I could give two shits about the Helicopter/Penguin/Squirrel ones.Mario also competed against itself as New Sup and 3D games were also pretty interchangeable
My dude, if you're going off of 1st party IP's then sure? (but even then I still contest that argument due to WarioWare and Rythm Heaven... hell, DeeDeeDee Drum Dash is fun as fuck) Otherwise you need to spend some time in the ocean that is the 3rd party/indie games because there are PLENTY of hidden gems that deserve a second chance. To give credit, the 3DS was great in reinvigorating Kirby, Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing. Outside of those, it really floundered everything else.
This month has been nuts.Citra has just shut down. God forbid anyone emulate 13 year old games that can no longer be officially purchased!
Yuzu being killed isnt such a big deal because Ryujinx exists which does a better job at actually emulating instead of needing a bunch of hacks to make things run (albeit it performs slower), but there is no alternative for Citra. Why do these faggots have to be so retarded around Nintendo, why cant they just lay low and not try to profit off it?Citra has just shut down. God forbid anyone emulate 13 year old games that can no longer be officially purchased!
this video continues to be evergreen.Citra has just shut down. God forbid anyone emulate 13 year old games that can no longer be officially purchased!
You don't. You wait 20 years then implement in a way that's an objective disaster. See Nintendo's N64 emulation on the switch.Isnt another issue with 3ds support on switch is the lack of a second screen, ( one reason why ds/3ds emu is awkward and janky )how do you even implement that on the switch 2 ?
it's mostly a corpo line of thought that we will make available when we feel like or need money.this video continues to be evergreen.
Currently at Nintendo.mp4
Speaking of. Is there a place to get the last build of it?I don't understand why they had to also take down Citra, it wasn't even part of the lawsuit. Nevermind the fact the 3DS isn't even supported anymore. This isn't looking good for the emulation scene.
I downloaded at the last moment before they took it down, so I have the latest nightly build. You might find it on archive.org. I know people have been saying that yuzu has been backed up there, so you might find Citra there as well. There's also torrents.Speaking of. Is there a place to get the last build of it?
I'm not so sure. The Japanese (and especially Nintendo) are intellectual property maximalists and have shown time and time again that they're happy to fuck their biggest fans in the ass just because they can, even if they have no intention of making money. You use their products in exactly the manner they intend or they will rain corporate hellfire down upon you.Nintendo are probably lashing out because the Switch 2 is about to drop and they want people buying legacy titles on that instead of emulating them for free.
