@IDanceonTrannyGraves Oh, would you look at that? Pyoro the leaker was right once again.
Maybe Nintendo is delaying the Switch 2's release to buy time for the Switch 1 sales to overtake the PS2's?

I'm not sure why they bother holding these, I don't think anyone gives a shit about them.

"Oh boy, games I can buy a better version of on Steam right now for a quarter of the price. Be still my heart."

Saw a fucking retarded video today suggesting that a partner showcase might mean Metroid Prime 2 news because Iron Galaxy is 3rd party. I want more Metroid, too, but Christ, people are dumb.

These numbers are all fucked up. Nintendo is at a little over 100 billion USD yet they calculate it only at around 11.
They are only counting Nintendo's cash, so the amount of liquidity they have in their bank accounts. It's a different number from their stock value, which tracks theoretical value and not physical value.

I'd do it if I were them tbh. How you're perceived by consumers and the industry matters, and setting that record by toppling the behemoth which was PS2 would be a total boon and indicate strength in the brand.

PS2 being sandwiched between Switch & DS would make Soyny shills seethe too, which would be a hilarious side effect.

I can't necessarily see Nintendo being that petty, but I concede that it would be hilarious. Not sure how fast the Switch is selling, so I don't know when they'd actually get there, assuming the current rate of sales remains the same and doesn't diminish even more.

@The Demon Pimp of Razgriz the rumors have betrayed you!
Not really. I did concede that an early 2025 launch date was possible, just less likely, and that appears to be the new target. Its not unusual for consoles to get delayed before release, which is what Bloomberg reported happened. Nintendo in particular has a history of this problem, especially with consoles getting delayed because the games weren't ready. It happened to the N64, whose launch experienced constant delays, allowing the Playstation to get a very strong early foothold, and then it happened again to the Gamecube, except Nintendo had to delay that console for an entire year, which destroyed the console's momentum due to the PS2 getting a full year head start, and the Xbox launching at the exact same time, stealing Nintendo's thunder. This happened even after Nintendo President at the time Hiroshi Yamauchi had promised that there would be no delays. This led Nintendo's Number 2 at the time, Hiroshi Imanishi, to infamously quip, "It's always the case with Nintendo, the hardware is already completed, but the software is not." It seems like the more things change, the more they stay the same.

I still almost wish Mario vs. Donkey Kong had just been the GBA version on Switch Online instead.
Same feeling for the Advance Wars games, I'm surprised not even the JP version of the app have them to make up the fact the remake never released over there.

I'm interested in Japanese third-parties as usual, I would assume the Switch port of Ace Combat 7 to make an appearance even if it was previously revealed by Bamco.
I don't have any true expectations for now but I don't mind any surprise reveals from the JP stream.

That list is really off. Not sure how they are coming to those number, unless it is a list based on just debt to equity ratio or something like that, which is a pretty poor way to judge this. Reality is most big companies have some level of debt and not all debt is bad for them. Just one case, the interest rate for debt maybe lower than hen the return of investing it, thus they would be losing money by paying it off.

If you look at market Nintendo is not worth anything close to Toyota, right now Toyota has more cash on hand ($76.37 Billion) than the market cap for Nintendo. Yet Toyota is no where on the list.

Based on market cap

I could see it being possible they're doing it for the meme. It might also be newer Nvidia chips they'd need for Switch 2 are tapped the fuck out right now. Everyone wants to build their AI rig right now. It might just be hard to get anything above the Tegra while keeping the price the same as the Switch 1.

This situation is different, and I’d say weirder now. There was only a six year gap between the Super Famicom and N64, and five years between N64 and Gamecube. And Nintendo used to try to release new hardware around the same time as their competition, so letting those other systems get a foothold was a big deal. Now console generations are all over the place, and it’s already been seven years since the Switch without so much as a codename for the next system, and 2024 looks barren for the Switch. If they’re holding off for this long, the Switch 2 better have an amazing launch window.

For the first few editions they would add a new mode every year so you really are better off buying the new ones. They also made the puzzles bigger and harder so, for example, the original S had something like 30 nearly worthless 3 by 3 grid puzzles while S9 had maybe 5 or 6. However eventually they stopped doing this and even the bonus extra-large puzzles would cap out at only giving you one each for owning the last three games instead of giving you a total of eight for owning all eight previous games.

The special gimmick editions lack a lot of the special content and have weird difficulties since they are based on anime characters or Master System sprites instead of being specifically built for Picross.
