Aside from the spin-off crap like the Peach game and the Mario vs. DK remake, what other games is Nintendo going to release this year?
The Thousand Year Door remake, the Luigi’s Mansion 2 port, and Metroid Prime 4.
... isn't that how most, if not all, people play handhelds?
Perfect position. As in, holding the screen at even a slight angle relative to your line of sight while holding it too close/too far away would distort the 3D.

Probably an random sports game or another platformer. Or they'll probably just coast by with the third-party sales, as usual

The Thousand Year Door remake
That's not very interesting. The trailer they showed had a 1:1 copy of the dialogue from the original game. Even the combat looked the same. They should call that shit a remaster instead of a remake.
and Metroid Prime 4.
You need to be medicated right now if you think that game is still in production. The last update we've heard from that game was in 2019 and it was only to tell us that they were restarting development. Five years have passed since.

Aren't we jumping the boat a little? Big N hasn't even announced that a new console is even in the works.
We know the exact chip it will be using thanks to leaks. We have a general idea of what it will be like, and it's going to come out this year.

Including what was already mentioned, there's also Another Code: Recollection, another remake (two in one package though, and looks very nice).

I'm not sure if Nintendo is publishing this one, but I think Professor Layton and the New World of Steam is supposed to be Switch exclusive.

There's supposed to be a Nintendo Direct next month, so I'm sure there will be more good stuff announced there.

It's insane to even think they're not working on another one. At absolute minimum it's a Switch Pro, but at this point Switch 2 is most likely.

Super Mario Wonder was announced in June for release in October. This isn't even abnormal for Nintendo.

Are these the same leakers that said Switch Pro was coming any day now in 2019,2020,2021,2022?
no, the one with a flawless track record

Their next gen competition is not doing so well to compel them to release a new one right away. I think Nintendo is going to take their time with this one.

Looking forward to it. I really hope Intelligent Systems doesn't just release TTYD with prettier graphics.

Did the leaks say they're doing another handheld/home console hybrid?

Sure, but they're always in the planning stages for another system. Exactly how far along they are is another matter, but this far along they have to be beyond just planning. At minimum I'd expect them to have some prototypes in development. I'm sure they're taking their time though.

If they add a hard mode and maybe some post-game content, and they don't censor anything/troon Vivian, then it's a win imo.

I just hope it sells like crazy so Paper Mario can get back to its roots. Maybe Mario & Luigi will come back if these recent Mario RPG releases do well enough...

I'm sure they're taking their time though.
I think the disastrous launch of the Wii U has to be a reason. By now Nintendo has realized that since they have no competition, they don't have to rush their hardware.

I thought the Mario & Luigi game was called Partners in Crime. When I realized it was Partners in Time I did not want to touch that game. Can we get an entire game that's like the train ride with the detective in TTYD?

Mario Paper: The Thousand Year Door has some backtracking issues, and I don't believe the content leading up to the ending matches the rest of the game in terms of quality. They should fix the last two chapters and introduce new mechanics that make the turn-based combat less repetitive.

I wish. That shit was amazing. A whole Mario game like that, RPG or not, would be so good.
Like a Paper Mario Globetrotter where half the time is spent on forms of transit like trains ships and airships?

I recently gotten myself the Bioshock trilogy on Switch and I'm going through my way on the first game.

I know that “X should get a Switch port!!” has been a meme for years now, but you know what really should get ported?
+1 for the first Plants vs Zombies.
I'd personally add a bunch of titles:
  • Dead Rising (as well as DR2 and Off the Record)
  • the original Dead Space trilogy (with gyro controls if possible)
  • Rayman retro trilogy
  • Metal Wolf Chaos XD
  • Vanquish
  • old Vanillaware titles (Dragon's Crown, Odin Sphere, Muramasa)
  • begging for Aquaplus titles (Utawarerumono, White Album and Dungeon Travelers) until the guys in charge stop their Sony loyalism
  • IA/VT Colorful (enjoyed it more on Vita than the Hatsune Miku titles)
  • DJ Max Respect (without the gay anti-cheat rootkit and mandatory always-online connectivity of the PC port)
  • a few more upscaled ports of PSP & PS2 games such as Growlanser, Ar no Tonelico, etc. Nippon Ichi Software has been doing an overall decent job. Although I was disappointed by 5pb and the re-release of Corpse Party Repeated Fear having the crappy UI and 4:3 resolution scaling from the 3DS version (while the CGs are 16:9) which immensely breaks the horror atmosphere imo.
20 Minutes Till Dawn recently got a Switch port last month, both Volcano Princess and Mystia's Izakaya (which started as asian indies on PC) are also soon coming out on the console.

The fucking Wii had an internet browser but the Switch doesn't?
The Switch does have a web browser but I have only seen it within Japanese games I own and it is limited to game manuals. For the online ones, any links beyond the specific designated webpage(s) are restricted of access, leading to blank pages instead.

Some other Japanese Switch games, such as Earth Defense Force and visual novels, also use the web browser for offline manuals (can be browsed in Airplane mode no problem).

I do remember the Playstation Vita was fully hacked thanks to an exploit through the web browser by entering a specific URL to run a script, so I don't blame Nintendo for making it hidden from public use to prevent this kind of thing.

Your browser is not able to display this video.

I am pretty sure quite a few Switch applications, such as the eShop and Nintendo Online, use the browser effectively as a webapp. The common method of using the web browser for other sites, from what I recall, was switching the DNS server so that the requests would get redirected to say Google, but in general, it's not a good idea to set your DNS to some unknown server which will explicitly hijack your DNS queries.

Still, the web browser has always been the weakpoint of security, a modern web browser is just so complex with many possible points of exploit.

This is exactly why I don't think it's coming this year. System's still selling really well, software sales are still obscene. Why disturb that?

They aren't going to launch a new system until they have a really compelling offering ready to go, and just "more power" is not compelling. Plus it has to be paired with at least a few really great games ready for the first few months, if those aren't ready there will absolutely be a delay.

They have nothing comparable in their history maybe except the Game Boy, which was on life support until Pokemon came along and suddenly revived it and in turn pushed back plans for a successor by 5 years. With Switch they have games doing 20mill units sold every 6 months, even lower scope games developed on a short timeframe, and a suite of evergreen titles.
