That's my point. Game Gear versions of (almost) all the games were nothing more than the master system versions shrunken to a handheld with a smaller resolution with the zoom in like 150-200 percent. Your reflexes and optical senses had to be more tighter and stronger if you wanted to actually beat the game.
Also SMB Deluxe had the option to move the camera with up, down, AND select, so you could see where you were going. Couldn't do that with Game Gear unless your name was Sonic, and even then it was just up and down.
In other words, Nintendo held your hand, while sega kicked you off and went "FLY, BITCH!!!"
