Pretty sure the switch is done. Why make a pro edition when a backwards compatible Switch 2 is much smarter and more viable?

If its a new console and its back compat you could argue that its still a Pro, they might just have games that are only for the new system or enhanced like they did with the new 3ds. I can't see them throwing away the entire install base just like that, seems like something they would do mid life of the next console, stop supporting the previous once people have moved to the new system.Pretty sure the switch is done. I think Prime 4 is almost done. Dev was 100 percent rebooted when Retro took over and 4-5 years is the totally expected amount of time it takes to builld a new game. Will probably be a Switch 2 game. As to Donkey Kong.... I do not and never have believed the rumor but its not like NPD 8 (? whatever the 3D Mario team is, they are the ones rumored) has released or announced any other full game since then. It remains just as viable as it was years back.Radio silent outside of a total restart since its announcement 6 (6!!) years ago, wouldn't count on it
This has been rumored for years now and I am no closer to believing it'll be a thing now as opposed to when it first came about
this part dealt damage to my brainI'm gonna play so many VNs on this
I get to have the Cartridge lol. That and Witch on the Holy Night is console exclusive.this part dealt damage to my brain
serious question: what is the appeal of having VNs on Switch as opposed to PC or any other gaming platform without a dedicated controller? It's always seemed like controllers make things infinitely more clunky, I don't get the appeal at all.
@Stab You in the Back must be cooming right now just hearing that announcementAny prediction that a Switch Pro/2 is coming in 2024 should be met with a resounding "no shit". It's obviously not happening this year, so the question is whether the current Switch can last until 2025, another two years, when it's been struggling to run first party games - let alone third party - for most of its life, and Nintendo has already used up basically all of their once-per-system games, sometimes even making two new entries when they usually wouldn't. Not to mention that going by US release dates, it's already outlived every single Nintendo system except the original Game Boy. If Nintendo hits us with a surprise Switch Pro releasing Holiday 2023, then I could see Switch 2 happening in 2025, but that's a significant stretch at this point.
The Switch 2 will release on Sunday, November 17, 2024. Tell your friends.
Brother I just bought a brand new Switch, it can wait, plz, let me have some fun before Nintendo abandons itAny prediction that a Switch Pro/2 is coming in 2024 should be met with a resounding "no shit". Same reason people loved reading all the VNs on the Vita, some people find it pretty comfortable to sit anywhere and read with a small portable device.this part dealt damage to my brain

Sorry, you'll be needing a brand new state-of-the-art console to play VNs onBrother I just bought a brand new Switch, it can wait, plz, let me have some fun before Nintendo abandons it
That's really the big thing, I don't have to have my ass in a chair while reading, I can be on the couch or something, options.Same reason people loved reading all the VNs on the Vita, some people find it pretty comfortable to sit anywhere and read with a small portable device.
I prefer reading visual novels on a handheld/portable format, just like it was the case for the Playstation Vita. The majority of them since then have touchscreen support too.this part dealt damage to my brain

your late adoption is not Nintendo's responsibility. At this rate you'll have years of enjoyment before you get around to buying the Switch's replacement.Brother I just bought a brand new Switch, it can wait, plz, let me have some fun before Nintendo abandons it
Okay, admittedly I don't do VNs that often, so maybe that's why this post is confusing me.this part dealt damage to my brain

my understanding is they're like "choose your own adventure books" where you get instructed to turn to specific pages depending on your choices. but with a narrator and pictures and having later outcomes affected by earlier decisions. But again.... maybe there's something about the experience that I'm missing. If so, please feel free to fill me in.
FTFY. If I wanted to read a book, I'd....read a fucking book. My imagination is a far better medium than a screen anyway.serious question: what is the appeal of playing VNs
I agree, but in theory I can understand the appeal of a VN... more for a writer than a reader though.FTFY. If I wanted to read a book, I'd....read a fucking book. My imagination is a far better medium than a screen anyway.
Some don't have any interactivity, and generally more boring as a result. I think they're referred to as kinetic novels or something.my understanding is they're like "choose your own adventure books" where you get instructed to turn to specific pages depending on your choices. but with a narrator and pictures and having later outcomes affected by earlier decisions.
Yeah, those are Kinetic novels. They even lack branching paths.I think they're referred to as kinetic novels or something.
