I’m eagerly awaiting to see what the sequel to Kirby and The Forgotten Land will look like. If anything, it should be more energetic and imaginative than the first one, if done right.
That kinda makes me wonder if 3D will become the new standard for Kirby platformers while 2D is relegated to enhanced remakes like RtDLDX? Or not; HAL is basically “the Kirby company” anyway so they could just have different teams working on each. Either way, I can’t imagine 3D would just go away.

So, about those Switch game prices, could someone explain this to me?

edit: Actually, I figured it out. Some retard priced it as the limited edition version even though its just the regular version. If you click into my image it says "LE SD" on the price tag. There is a special version of this game that comes with an art book and some other shit and this matches up with that's price perfectly. The real version is going for about 35 used, 50 sealed otherwise. Or they have it behind the shelf and just put out a regular empty case because fuck it, we're Gamestop, whatever.

There is a thriving subculture of people that buy physical copies of Switch games in the hope they can flip it for double or more MSRP down the road. Animu panty bait like that game will probably go for $150* by 2030. They will never play the game so it’ll be sealed to boot. It’s not without precedent, go see how much GameCube games go for these days.

* - Not factoring in the crazy inflation we have of course

My PS2 copy of Phantom Brave is still sitting there, at the same fucking price its been at for the past 15 years. :(

Thankfully my Wii U stuff is through the ceiling. Switch is probably going to be a real easy console to collect for in the future, the best games are all multi-million sellers. Plus all the people buying sealed new, etc.

You're probably going to be able to get games cheaper than that of the Wii's on the resale market in the future as the Switch is on track to become the most sold console.

Unlike Wii U and Gamecube which is becoming increasingly more expensive to buy for as they were both massive flops and people have only recently realised their potentials as consoles.

I believe that because it's a used game they dont have to follow MSRP, I remember gamestop getting in trouble because they were opening new reprints of Xenoblade and selling them like they were used at 80 dollars or something.

Actually there is a big issue with Switch games, they get really limited printing, so once they stop being made the price shoots way up. Apparently this is a big issue with first party games even. I think Xenoblade 2 was one of them for a while (might still be). All the more reason to just pirate shit.

Nintendo has literally built FOMO into physical releases somehow, and they don't drop prices ever, and there is no Nintendo Selects anymore, so if you want a game physical and see it, you have to buy it or risk never seeing it again. Lovely practice.

Nearly all my Switch games are digital from either the european or japanese eshop, as I'm confident enough to trust myself I'll enjoy them (sole real disappointment so far has been Super Robot Wars 30). Physicals are mainly as gifts for relatives/friends.

That's an otome visual novel from the looks of it, aka a game primarily aimed for women, with a female protagonist and male characters.
Funnily enough, those games were more of a PSP & Playstation Vita thing but they entirely migrated on Switch since then.

I've been ordering from Amazon Japan for the last year and on average my games have been between $30-40 with the occasional game dipping into the $50 range depending on its popularity/scarcity.

"Get it while it's hot, or don't get it at all" is also how Disney manages its animation brands. You might not like it, but it's a much more effective way of managing a brand and sustaining its value than choking the market to death with gluts.

I've been thinking on a switch OLED for a while. It's interesting. In a technical aspect, it's a miniaturized Xbox 360 that uses cartridges for high speed data transfer. It shouldn't work in the modern market if you look at the other contenders, even things like the steam deck, but it does, by having great exclusives and somehow porting basically everything with good coding. That's why I'm interested.

I've never heard of this before, and my local game stores typically have most of the AAA stuff in stock for years. I'm still seeing new copies of Mario Party Superstars and Xenoblade 2 whenever I go. Is this maybe just a local thing instead of an actual orchestrated international attempt at FOMO?

I don't know if this is actually a commonly known thing, but this is what I've been told from the owner of a game store. I think Xenoblade 2 is being printed again because of Xenoblade 3, but for a while apparently it was hard to find.
