Amiibos give you new gliders in BOTWTotK, the Majora glider looks super cool, the rest are pretty shit.

They announced the TotK one so no, but after smash got its final dlc, they slowed down the release of new ones.

Did they? Honestly, Smash releases were so uneventful compared to Wii U that I couldn't tell. I always happen to see Byleth, Minecraft, and Dread Samus in every store I go in, but no others. I think maybe I have seen a Sephiroth and a few Kirby Amiibos as well. They are pretty much just collectibles at this point to highlight bigger games, though I find it strange how lacking FE, Kirby and Xenoblade are with them as they should be obvious wins. I get Pokemon has restrictions, but why not do these?

Kirby got some back when Star Allies came out. They didn't do that well, not Animal Crossing bad but not great either.

They weren’t for Star Allies, they were for Planet Robobot and a big reason for the failure was because only Waddle Dee didn’t have a Smash Amiibo already in existence. I remember him being popular due to that. If they picked Kirby characters without Amiibos, they would have done well. Mario only did well with the enemy characters, Waluigi and Daisy, plus Gold Mario.

Both Breath of the Wild and Smash Bros Ultimate costs 70€ MSRP where I live, and I've been assuming this was the case as well for americans.

Smash, alongside just about everything on Switch until a few years ago launched at an MSRP of $60, but Amazon and Walmart (and maybe Target idk) were doing a thing for a while where all new Switch releases were $50.

Tendies are content with endless remasters or ports and the shittiest emulation software known to man and will gladly fork over 78$ plus tip for glorified expansion packs that will likely run just as poorly if not worse than the original game. If I was Nintendo I'd say fuck it and just keep pumping out more switches too. So long as Zelda is (maybe) coming out ten years from now people will make sure they have one.

Nothing I've seen from the trailers is actually convincing me its going to be that great. It will probably be much better than BoTW, but $70? (90 Canadian cuckoonies) no way.

People keep insisting that they want to keep it secret but, like, what are they hiding? All I want to see are some meaningful dungeons and structures to explore in the world that don't just end in a shrine and a sword chest.

Instead they showed... Sky islands (that are definitely not shrines guys!) Banjo Nuts and Bolts, and more terrible voice acting.

For seventy bucks? No thanks.

I have 100% Xenoblade 1 on each platform it released. The gold really does nothing, since all the good gear is acquired from unique enemies. Go ahead and take it. Set the music to classic though for your first time through. Remastered music changes some stuff that IMO is for the worse.

I dunno why some internet users have issues with ports existing when it's been a strong point for handhelds to play home console titles in a portable format, at least that was my experience with the Playstation Portable & Vita. Bad ports are obviously a different and disappointing story. The Switch has plenty of new first-party titles and the WiiU might as well have not existed from a consumer's POV. I didn't own one (as I was more into Playstation/PC in the 2010s) and I sure don't know anybody in my circle who ever owned one either.

I've bought some personal favorite games a few times on different platforms I've main-ed across the span of a decade: such as, three times for Atelier Rorona (first on Vita, the second time on Steam, and now on Switch), EDF2 (twice on Vita when I realized its online was region-locked, then on Switch in 2021), the Yakuza games (on a PS3 then several years later on Steam, and I would likely do the same if they ever come out on Switch), etc. So yep, I'm guilty as charged for doing this with third-parties.

Besides that, there is the matter of circumstances between the generational gaps within the Switch's playerbase and people experiencing games at different times. I've never got the chance to play Xenoblade 1 and Metroid Prime for instance, until the Switch, even if emulating them on PC was an available option as I had other games in mind.
