Why not a Kirby Metroidvania? Literally the Great Cave Offensive but it's a full game. Maybe they've done something like this, I don't pay attention to new Kirby games because they all look like reskins of old Kirby games, but Great Cave Offensive was the most fun you could have in a Kirby game. Second most fun was all the other minigames.
That’s called Kirby and the Amazing mirror. It kind of sucks.

You might as well not bother playing it then because you're a dumbass and never going to be satisfied.
Lick my dick and balls. Asking for some radical differences to flesh out a barren Hyrule I've already explored thoroughly isn't asking for much at all. For some reason only nintendo fans feel like this is some gigantic ask that is impossible to satisfy.

Fine by me that they culled the 3DS line a little early, I had three of them break on me. I've never had more than one console just outright die on me while I was still playing it, yet my 3DSes all failed, including my "New" one, just, out of the blue. And by the time my last one broke, they were hard to come by and fairly pricey used, because Coronavirus.

It's got some good games too, but I really really wish Nintendo would port them over to Switch already.
The 3DS was always strange to me. It heavily suffered from post-Wii Nintendo, where it felt like the company got lazy and un-ambitious with their titles, but it definitely had some gems.

I think Kirby, Animal Crossing, Fire Emblem and Kid Icarus were obvious standouts and must haves for the console. Mario was super hit or miss, NSB2, Sticker Star, Tennis, Sports Mix, Mario Party, and others were generic while games like Golf were really good. Even MK7 was a down grade when compared to Wii or even DS. I also hated how the machine was a 2D platformer wasteland as Nintendo over-saturated the genre big-time between Yoshi, Mario, Pikmin, Chibi-Robo, and so many others. It is the 3DS, why are there more 3D platformers on your previous console restricted to a d-pad?

The 3DS always felt like it was stuck in the shadow of the DS as it had less big titles and variety. It was a console that seemed primarily tailored to RPG fans, and not much else.

Just updated my games. Looks like they also added SP versions of Super Punch out with the circuits unlocked and Mario World with all the goals reached and the sprite change from Special World activated. Neat little bonuses. I like the SP game variants. They are fun for quick pick up and play sessions or to just mess around.

I wonder if they will ever port the metroid prime games. Guessing it would make more sense to release it close to prime 4... If it ever releases that's it.

I think they banked on the 3d fad of the time and it didn't pay off. Nintendo has that mantra of using proven (old) technology in innovative ways, 3d as a technology wasn't new at time, yet the technique to display 3d without glasses sort of was? I don't blame them for the mistep tbh, back then everyone and their mothers were converting their movies to 3d and TV manufacturers were shilling 3D tvs as the next big thing and comparing it to the jump of black and white to color. The reality is it took more processing power to display things in 3D and that translated to more battery consumption, while offering nothing in terms of gameplay at most it could offer "immersion". Think about it, touch controls made navigating menus more convinient and let devs get creative with interactive segments. Motion controls brought waglan yes, but were great for shooters and (despite nintendo selling millions of those plastic grips) let you design your oddball game without the need of a propietary controller.
All 3d gave you were headaches.

Been playing the new Kirby game and it’s fine.

Honestly don’t know how to feel about it. Everything about it just screams fine. I am currently 5 worlds in, so I believe I only have 2 more and nothing in the game has really wowed me. It feels like a basic 3D platformer, not bad, but certainly not the best of its genre like I would hope.

I would blame the difficulty, but that isn’t the issue. The levels just lack flare or anything really going on. Sackboy and Astro Bot are both easy titles, yet they have a lot more charm and memorable aspects than Kirby has had so far. I have also recently played Crash 4, which is much more involved and memorable. Kirby is a fine game to add to the collection for those just looking for a new Switch title, but if you want a great 3D platformer for the system, definitely choose Odessey, 3D World, 3D All-Stars, Crash 4, hell even SpongeBob before this. If you have a PS5, then damn, you have way better options with Ratchet, Astro, or Sackboy available.

As the title stands in the grander Kirby series I would say Super Star Ultra and Return to Dreamland are better titles, it is mainly competing for a 3rd place.

As for the challenge question, the boss fights are difficult if you are going for a no damage run for the Waddle Dee, otherwise the game is a push over and most secrets will be discovered in one run of a level.

The Forgotten Land is the first Kirby game that I've actually played, I think I may have tried the old Kirby on Gameboy when I was much younger but I'm not sure.
Very cute and charming as I would expect it from the series. Overall easy although a few treasure challenge stages could really kick ass on the less skillfull players, and some waddle dee cages require to do a no-damage run on bosses (or no-damage against the twin ice mid-bosses at the end of the frozen bridge level)

Got a good chuckle at the pencil blueprint after beating the catgirl boss, the HAL devs seem to know what they were doing
I haven't finished the game yet but so far it's pretty fun and definitively a title I could offer to a young family relative

Probably not after all this time.

And why would you want them to? From what I understand the Trilogy re-release fucked up the aspect ratios for the first two games because they were designed with a 4:3 TV in mind, while it's not impossible they could fix that with a new port I'd doubt it.

I know when I plan on playing them I'm going to on my old CRT like nature intended.

3DS sucked, I've never touched one despite being a big fan of the DS, literally all they had to do was make a more powerful DS without the 3D gimmick.

Not saying it didn't have good games, but that the central gimmick, like the Wii U, was a misfire, that whole era of early 2010s Nintendo was a misfire even if they still put out some good games, but they got way lost in gimmick territory and I'm very glad the Switch has been a course correction.

The Switch has a big central gimmick too but it's one that works and doesn't get in the way.

I mean, they did. the 2nd model of the system was the 2DS, and then the final model they made was the New 2DS XL.

Sure, but by then it was too little, too late, the momentum was permanently damaged by the 3D gimmick in the early years.

It's all just as well since the downsides of the 3DS and Wii U led to the Switch, the obvious thing with the Wii U was to to just make "the Wii but with better graphics" but I'm actually glad they didn't because it made then get away from wagglin'.

I mean even the dual screen thing on the original DS was always a gimmick in of itself that never NEEDED to be there, the DS was awesome not because it had two screens but because of the games it had.

I'm glad we eventually got back to the days of a single screen and buttons you push and joysticks you move, even if there's a few extra bells and whistles, but nothing that gets as much in the way.

With permanent lockdowns likely to be a thing for at least a decade due to totalitarian governments, Nintendo would be smart to give up on "it's a screen you can take with you!" and just release a normal fucking game console for once. But since it's Nintendo I'll just wait in line for my latest Retard Toy like everyone else so I can play New Zelda.

NIS America has announced Prinny Presents NIS Classics Volume 3 for Switch and PC (Steam), which includes Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure and La Pucelle: Ragnarok. It will launch this summer
I remember NIS America massively fucked up the DS port of Rhapsody so no idea if they learnt their mistakes this time
A Switch port of La Pucelle Ragnarok was what I was expecting and waiting for, on the other hand.

Pocky & Rocky Reshrined will launch for PlayStation 4 and Switch on June 24 in the west, publisher Natsume and developer Natsume Atari (Tengo Project) announced.
In Japan, Pocky & Rocky Reshrined will launch on April 21.

Acquire has announced Kamiwaza Tourai, a remastered version of its 2006-released PlayStation 2 stealth action game Kamiwaza for PlayStation 4 and Switch. It will launch this fall in Japan.
Kamiwaza Tourai will feature high-resolution graphics, refined textures, an auto-save function, various tutorial adjustments, and more.
NIS America will release the newly announced Kamiwaza Tourai under the name Kamiwaza: Way of the Thief for PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC via Steam this fall in the west, the company announced. It will launch both physically and digitally for $39.99.

You underestimate the wide appeal of portable consoles. Having the ability to play your favorite games anywhere is too good of a deal for a lot of people and the Switch's success reflects that.

Hell, Valve is going for that same crowd with the Steam Deck. At this point, Nintendo would be stupid to not keep running with the switch's main function for the eventual upgrade.
