Nintendo please. Bathe me in Eternal Darkness for all eternity.
Considering Silicon Knights went bankrupt in 2014, and considering that one of the founders of Precursor Games, Silicon Knights' successor, was arrested on CP charges, AND the fact that the trademark for Eternal Darkness was abandoned in 2020, not likely.
The Earthbound series is gay but I like some of the happy/chill tracks.

Indeed. I actually have the soundtracks for all 3 games on rotation in my personal playlist, despite me not giving a shit about the Mother franchise at all. It's just that good.

I don't buy the "Undertale is popular, so Mother 3 would sell!" angle.

The exact types of faggots that love Undertale are the exact people that would lose their shit over troon characters in Mother 3. That's not even getting into the idea that Nintendo probably figures at this point the diehards have actually played the Mother 3 fan translation and would either have little motivation to buy a localization they produce or would just hate whatever changes they make anyways.

I honestly think Nintendo just doesn't think it's worth any effort at all to localize it and release it, especially since they don't have a dedicated GBA emulator service at this point. If that ever came down the pipeline then sure, they'd probably do it just to have content on it, but otherwise it wasn't worth the effort when it came out and it's certainly not worth the effort two decades later.

But I'd love to believe it's because Reggie secretly hated Mother faggots and this hatred spread to the rest of Nintendo or something. That's just funnier.
Eh its a 50/50 some people ree about the troons or autists like me who like deltarune would buy it sides... it shouldnt be Too expensive to localize the game except if they're going the ff3-6 remaster route

The real reason they don't want to localize Mother 3 is because, if it's anything like Earthbound, it would be very difficult to do it right. The guy who translated EB put out an entire book about it. Having to translate a script that consists of nothing but Japanese puns and references is something only a real master can do, not only of translation but of writing as well. There aren't very many of those.

I'm not that into the series personally and only barely played 3 (didn't care for it), but I do find the story of how EB was translated fascinating. He practically rewrote the script but he did it in a way that was as faithful to the original as possible. That's really tough.

I'm pretty sure the reason Mother 3 was never/will never be released is because Earthbound sold like shit. Moreso than F-Zero or Star Fox or any of the other series that rarely get games that everyone says is because they sold like shit.

Yeah, Earthbound "fans" can say all they want about how much they love it just like all the F-Zero "fans" say they do after Captain Falcon got popular thanks to Smash. The fact Nintendo gives so few shits about the fan translation says a lot IMO.
The series actually sold pretty well overall, outside of the SNES' English release of Earthbound. The rereleases sold well even outside of Japan where they always did good, and they know people like it so they keep releasing it across multiple consoles, including SNES Classic.

It's probably just some type of rights issues and/or the fear that the game will stir controversy, they know it is a popular series now. It's just not worth the trouble for a couple million extra sales when they can milk it good enough in Japan alone.

There's also the fact that Nintendo rarely translates old games into English, especially outside of remakes. Even if whatever concerns they have/had disappear, it's now filed as away as "crusty old Japanese exclusive". I think that's unfortunate because there's tons of good games they could easily bring over but just never have.

The closest they get to opening the vault on their old Japanese exclusives is usually just dumping a ROM for our curiosity, like with The Mysterious Murasame Castle (cool game but broken fucking difficulty).

In fact, thinking about it, I can only remember one time an old game was later translated to English, it being Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light. And even then, for some bizarre reason it had limited availability even as a digital title.

What makes matters worse is the guy who was busted for CP was, in my research of Silicon Knights, the lead writer who probably made Eternal Darkness what it is.

So with the lead talent deservedly sitting in prison it's an ip probably best left well enough alone, but it is terrible how it all played out, Eternal Darkness is one of my favorite games, it's just awful that one of the key talents behind it would turn out to be such a shitty person and what clearly had potential to be a long running series never happened.

This may not be the place to put it but I was thinking about the death of the 3DS and people were asking what (fre)eshop games to get and it made me wish they would port over Pushmo, Crashmo and Stretchmo to the Switch. Make a bundle out of it, like wtf.

Ive been playing picross again and they have like 7 of those games. Bring some other puzzle ones over. The ___mo series was golden.

Hey so what's the verdict on this? Is the fanbase happy with this? Or is the fanbase irrationally annoyed because the fanbase can never be happy with anything ever even though they still buy it? I think it looks pretty neat. I know what Fantasy Zone is but not the other two. That Alien game looks fun though. Not sure what to think about kill-dragon-from-platforms game.

I'm happy they're actually adding more Mega Drive games. Genuinely thought it'd be the first batch and nothing else.

Alien Solider never got a US release, only in Japan and Europe. Only time the US got a taste of it was on the Sega Channel many many years ago.

If they're going for obscure non-usa titles, they should also do MM Wily Wars and Mr. Nutz. Those titles were Sega Channel "Exclusives" as well.

So it’s been a couple of months since Nintendo added their N64 games to the switch online subscription. I remember the initial reception was… less than positive. I’ve heard the occasional article about incremental improvements, but I wanted to ask here. What’s the quality of the N64 emulations on the switch these days? I miss star fox 64…

I heard they added the fog back into OoT and fixed some texture issues, specifically the shit with the Dark Link fight.

There's a sale on Monster Hunter Rise. Is it a good game?

I'd wait for Sunbreak, they're going to be changing shit in the game, so your favorite weapon class may wind up rebalanced.

If you've never played a MH game before you should probably start with World/Iceborne
Sunbreak requires base Rise to play so you would have to buy it regardless. I would suggest trying the Rise demo and see if you like it.
I personally enjoy Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate more. Gameplay is different though as it is Old World style (flexing after eating, more position and monster movement reading/prediction). Worldborne is closer to Rise but they're not on Switch.

The article only talks about Animal Crossing and Legend Of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. But the “our pockets are crying” line is just funny to me.

The Switch version of Knights in the Nightmare Remaster will launch via Nintendo eShop on April 7 in Japan for 2,860 yen, developer Sting announced. Pre-orders will open on March 31.
A release date for the iOS and Android versions were not announced.
Knights in the Nightmare Remaster is a remastered version of the strategy shoot ’em up RPG, which first launched for DS in September 2008, followed by PlayStation Portable in April 2010. The remastered release features high-definition visuals, and an improved and upgraded user interface.
There is a couple of Sting titles that were already ported on Switch (Gloria Union, Yggdra Union, Baroque), but just like the mainline EDF games, they're Japan-only in spite of their past english releases in previous systems. I hope the next Sting port will be Dungeon Travelers
