Reddit's nintendoswitch hub /r/nintendoswitch is not having it either which surprised me.
saw this take which is interesting and a good comparison
and PSOnline typically goes on sale for 30bucks for a year. At this price there is no reason to drip feed content... or to not have it all ready to go.
Then there is the fact WiiU had virtual console releases which also included DS/GBA games. That's close to 150 games but they're releasing this with like 6? and the Sega Genesis games seem like theyre available via the Sega Genesis gamepack...
Fucking kek, that's really something. I guess the one selling point they have is that N64 emulation is shit on PC and not everyone can get an everdrive plus a good way to connect their system to an HDTV. Fortunately I have both of those things.

>Looks at android emus that run n64 emus like a fucking charm.
>Downloads to pc. Downloads within emu.
>hooks controller.
Problem solved, you can do this super easily. Even non convolutedly, most phones above or equal to Samsung s6/7 hardware can run the, just fine without much lag at all. So this kinda falls through too.
I mean, I'm not an emulation snob but N64 emulation really boils down to Mario and OoT being playable while everything else is a crap shoot at best. You're better off biting the bullet and paying the scalper price for an N64 and get an everdrive with some hyperkin HD cables if you really want to play N64 games.
It mainly comes down to people not exactly wanting (and having the patience) to learn things. Finding the right emulator, the proper bios files for certain console systems, messing with the emulator settings, then finding the place for no-intro/redump romsets, etc.

ParaLLEI through retroarch works pretty well for N64 emulation on PC, at least better than I recall several years ago.
Saturn went better too with mednafen but it has the 6-frames delay by default regardless of the title you play, which is a problem if you're into shmups (some PS4/Switch ports of shmups can have something up to a 10-frame delay like the Cotton Saturn Tribute).
Yeah, this shit's a rip off compared to GamePass and PlayStation Plus & Now, there's not even any discount for buying store products with this subscription. They couldn't even be bothered to add Game Boy & Game Boy Advance titles, that could've helped soften the blow a little.
Watch, I bet they'll find a way to drip feed games or even charge $20 for GameCube games, if they even make it before the next console releases and reset everything for the third time in a row. I bet we'll never see Super Mario RPG or Earthbound either for "licensing" reasons (bullshit when they make so much money and overcharge for lackluster services).
Between this and Super Mario 3D All Stars, Nintendo can stand to get humbled before the next console gets fucked.
On the bright side, they might take this reaction seriously. Nintendo has responded to backlash in the past, I remember when they dropped the price of the 3DS and Iwata came out and made a public apology.
Otherwise I don't see this being very profitable for them. This is costing them nothing, and there are only so many consoomers out there.
I am so mad at Nintendo for charging me less than $3/month for an ever expanding library of classic N64 and Genesis games! I am additionally mad that its an optional add-on for their low-priced online service, giving me the option of not subscribing to it until they add more titles and benefits. Why can't Nintendo follow Sony and Xbox's example, and force me to spend $70 on online service with the promise that I will get one shitty free game a month!?

I'd be fine with the thing if it was like maybe 15 dollars cheaper and didn't have a price bump that was less determined by the n64 and genesis titles but more determined by the fucking fact it's got a subscription based copy of a $60 game I already own in it.
I hear this all the fucking time and to this day I still don't get how it's a fucking "challenge"
If by "normalfags find it challenging" you mean "normalfags are lazy as fuck", then yea I can see that. Otherwise it's the easiest fucking thing ever, especially since RetroArch is a thing... it's literally just ONE program that emulates whatever the fuck you want rather than downloading multiple emulators. The only leg work you'd have to do is for the roms., but of course they're not going to because they would all rather be spoonfed the information like they're 2 year olds.
You genuinely have to be fucking psychotic/retarded to see the same set of ROMS being sold at the exact same prices, sometimes up to $10+ (N64 Sin & Punishment is still $11.99 on the WiiU eShop), from the Wii/PS3/360 era to current gen (i.e. 2005 to now), and not once think "wait, something about all of this doesn't seem right".
