I mean if you're a kid, the target market, it can easily fit in a backpack. That's where I put my DS lite most of the time in school tbh.
DS Lite was super easy to carry any way you liked. PSP Go & DS Lite were the last systems compact and light enough to not even think about carrying around. I actually miss the GBA Micro and wish we'd get something like that outside of Chinese stuff.

I'll be pissed if they ruin Switch 2 with a double screen gimmick.
Why? If it's designed well it shouldn't be an issue, everybody loved DS,

On the other hand, how exactly would this work on the big screen? One screen goes on the mount while the other you treat like the WiiU tablet? Wasn't that the thing that turned off alot of people to the WiiU in the first place?
It would be a Switch that has a detachable top screen that could work like a Wii U tablet. In portable it can attach and become a DS.

The Wii U turned people off for a variety of reasons. I don't think the screen even cracked the top of those reasons as most said it was comfortable and could bring in some interesting ways to play. I would say the piss poor marketing that was both confusing and juvenile, along with the poor game lineup were what killed it. It also lacked a clear vision as it was hardcore in the first year then went super casual the second.

They were, not going to say I didn't put it in my pocket, just that the backpack exists for a reason. You can put your cables and games in there and make sure it doesn't get lost.

Because it breaks home-play. Looking up and down at a Wii U gamepad was a dogshit play experience and the type of thing that absolutely should not be brought back under any circumstance. And yeah, they could "just not use it" for games that don't work well with it (all of them) but then they're going to be making us pay 50 dollars for an extra hunk of plastic just like the original XBO did.

When down properly it's fine. I've played multiplayer games where the person with the gamepad only looks at his screen, and most first party games generally treat the second screen as a menu that you can quickly glance at. Affordable Space Adventures I think did it pretty well.

Not to be mr no-fun but I don't have a single bit of hype for a remake of an already good game that I already own. Same reason I didn't buy Mario RPG.

(I did get way pulled into the SO2 remake though so I guess I'm mr hypocrite)
Star Ocean 2 Second Story R is pretty much a different experience of the game with the sheer amount of QoL features added (and the new art portraits are pretty good too) so it's quite understandable.

Used to have Paper Mario on the Gamecube but that was a very long time ago, and Japanese download game coupons are pretty cheap anyway.

Not for me. EDF all the way.
There is a global release for September 2024 in any case (maybe with a surprise PC port like it happened with the first World Brothers), I'm just quite impatient when it comes to EDF.

Is there any change in resolution when going into a match? Some modern TVs take a moment to catch up if the video output changes, and though I haven’t seen it for N64, I know some PS1 games use different resolutions in different situations.
No there is not. I have to assume though that's what's happening to the game. It was my first time hooking up anything older than the Wii to it. Speaking of which the Wii is hooked up and running fine.

Recently bought KI Gold to play for my channel. Tried playing it on a TV from 2019 48in LG using the AVs. Before the match started the screen would go black then start up again 3 seconds into the match. Swapped TVs to 19in Samsung from 2009. With AVs got no color and still that back screen. So swapped to a third TV Samsung 32in 2007 flat screen... works perfect.
I want to add that after i wrote this post that night I rehooked up the 64 to the LG, popped in Smash Bros. That game ran fine. No dropping out. No black screens. So it looks like that just KI can't handle the TV. Must be the age of the carts?? Not sure.

Where were you from late 2004 to spring 2017
Not playing handhelds. Bear in mind, my complaint is specifically that this would gimp on-tv play based on my experience with trying to use both screens on a Wii U- a totally unfun experience.

The cost will still be reasonable, Nintendo usually has the cheaper console and has since Wii (unsure about early). As long as they don't ruin games with it (I'm sure Star Fox Zero was a lesson) then this only enhances the portable mode imo.

For every game marginally improved by it there's a Star Fox 0 that is ruined by it. No thanks.
Miyamoto has been put out to pasture and just works on movies and theme parks and stuff now likely because of Star Fox Zero. That ain't happening again.
I keep hearing this rumor time and again, would you guys mind elaborating? I know Zero bombed harder than the Enola Gay over Hiroshima, but for Miyamoto of all people to be sidelined over it is almost too much to believe.

The story goes that all throughout development people in the press and Platinum Games were telling him the control scheme wasn't working. People who worked at Platinum at the time apparently have said they told him standard controls could be easily implemented as an option while retaining the controls he wanted as the default, but Miyamoto kept doubling down that the controls would grow on people. The game came out and was absolutely panned and bombed hard even for a Wii U game, selling under a million units.

I don't think anyone has ever heard anything official, but it's been nearly a decade and he hasn't been heavily involved with anything ever since besides the movie, the theme park and mobile games. People just put two and two together.

*Edit*

Couldn't find the interview I was thinking of, but take a gander at this one. Emphasis mine:

It seems like a new version could create a lot of opportunity in terms of reacting to fan feedback and possibly creating a new control scheme, for example. What are your thoughts regarding that?

Inaba:
The important thing to remember there is that because it’s Nintendo’s IP, the ideas are coming from Miyamoto-san himself. We have to respect what Miyamoto-san wants to do. Of course, at that time there was a lot of discussion between Platinum and Nintendo, but if the opportunity came up to bring Star Fox Zero to the Switch again it would be more of a question of what he would like to do in that opportunity, and of course we would respect that again.

It must be difficult to give feedback to someone as prestigious as Mr. Miyamoto?

Inaba:
Actually, Yusuke Hashimoto, who was working on Star Fox as director at the time but is no longer with the company, he was probably the one who had the most trouble taking the ideas to Mr. Miyamoto, Because aside from how he is personally, he is a giant in the industry and somebody who a lot of creators look up to. So, it takes a lot of courage or anyone to go to him with ideas or feedback.
