Autists the net over seem to be forgetting that this is a toy for actual children, unlike amiibos whose main market is manchildren.
With that in mind I think it looks fun, creative and will probably sell very well. The robot is the kind of thing I'd buy my kid because I secretly want to try it.
The price is irrelevant because mum and dad will be the ones paying for it.

Well, I was hoping it would be a Virtual Console, the long-awaited Netflix app, maybe even themes for the UI. But hell, Nintendo's been defying expectations almost a year into the console's life. They seem to have a competent team that has learned from past mistakes. Time will tell how this will do. There were people who thought a two-screened heldheld would be a massive failure.

I can remember during the "Lego Wars" how excited we were that the Millenium Falcon Lego toy came out and just as we were finished building it, it broke apart.
Can't wait for the Gaming Historian to call this a "Big Nintendo Mistake" in 2021.

Why not corrugated plastic like they make those "NOT A SCAM!" roadside signs instead of literal cardboard?
This does generally fit Nintendo's MO since forever, though. Take a high-tech concept, find a cheaper and maybe smoke-and-mirror way to do something like it, and then sell it cheap-ish.

Seems like a good idea but it's a bit expensive for, you know, cardboard.
Maybe if the actual prize for the software were 30 dollars and maybe if the official cardboard pieces were optional and MAYBE if they would release the blueprints online then it COULD be a good idea.
