Yeah, terrible draw distance is the last thing you need in a flight sim.I think Nintendo 64 games in general have aged really poorly. I played Zelda on my N64 for the first time in about 15 years back around 2018, and the game being locked at 20 frames a second was pretty jarring until I adjusted and got used to it again after a couple hours. I find many games on SNES and Genesis more playable today than N64 games due to things like muddy textures, the short draw distance and framerate issues.
But the devs worked with what they had and people liked it because they weren't any better alternatives, at the time.
