Imagine making your tv look like a fucking game console, how much money was spent on this shit?
Probably more than Maddox's bedroom.

It wouldn't have been hard because TMS has had success with SRPGS before. Hell, just make an SMT game set in the FE verse where you can summon FE characters as part of the heroes line. FE already has plenty of established monsters like dragons, laguz, taguel, zombies/"morphs", and all the monsters shown in Sacred Stone/FE Gaiden (Fates, Echoes, and 3H came after TMS iirc, but there's still plenty of monsters.)

point is, FE's got the lore and the variety to match SMT for a decent srpg collab.
SMT also had a medieval fantasy spinoff and Majin Tensei was already practically FE with summonable monsters.

Not as egregious as what was probably the inspiration for it.

I have no problem with figurines and collectibles like plushies taking up room. I personally bought some myself, but something about a Switch tv, along with the wall paintings strike me as wrong. If this image was just the Amiibo, the Mario in a pipe, and I guess SuperMan, it would be fine. A little disorganized, like please put the Amiibo on a shelf not the floor or in front of the consoles, and move the SuperMan, but pretty harmless.

I will at least give some credit, the Switch Joycons are actual shelves, which is a neat touch. (Yes they actually open for those unaware) Just the wall decoration and design of the tv is just awful.

I don't think the price hike is going to stick. It looks too artificial because rarity hasn't decreased from the past 2 years. I think once 5 gets out and the Nintendo fandom at large decided to hate it, prices will dip back down to what they were, or hell it may happen sooner because Nocturne HD is coming before 5.

The same shit happened with the 3ds Dragon Quest games.
I didn't know that happened with the Dragon Quest games, but unless it's a mainstream fad like the Wii or Switch, I've never seen scalper prices drop, at least for games I want. It's easier to sit on a game waiting for that £300 pay day than lower the price to £10.

i think Nintendo's going into carts because they last better than disks and the slot would be an easy to attach thing for a future backwards-compatible feature.
I'm a bit more cynical. Those are nice benefits, but Nintendo is paranoid about the internet and piracy, so they make everything as proprietary and non-standard as they can.

Another reason could be to appeal the gen-x bugmen demographic. I remember Moviebob being hyped that the Switch used cartridges like the old days.

Disks don't age well.

Anyways I think the real crime here is so many NIntentards thinking Nintendo's above reproach. They're a company that has had a good standard of quality. However, let them off too much, for too long, and then they'll start thinking that all they gotta do is pump out New Super Mario Bros games to make good profit, with Zelda remasters for OoT.

The issue with the carts is price. The larger capacity ones are way more expensive, with devs/publishers often deciding to go the MASSIVE day one patch route instead of shelling out extra as it would eat into their profit margin.

Or just don't plain ship the entire game at all on the cart. Not like you actually need the game to be completable without a patch, right?

I thought the real reason for going with carts was the switch being a portable console. Discs and hardware that is meant to be moved all the time and that can be moved while the disc is being read, do not mix well. The last handheld that used discs was the PSP (they had that weird plastic casing but still) and even then that console's disc drive tended to fail, they switched over to cards/carts for a reason with the vita.

That's the main strength of ROM/flash memory. Not being a mechanical media does make it tolerant of stuff like vibration. The obfuscation from not being a typical size disc is just a bonus.

But it's not exactly cost-effective. I guess some fanboys would say "loading times", but the Switch has a memory bandwidth bottleneck that results in lower performance for some games (Looking at you, Link's Awakening).

Carts might be more expensive but it's not the make or break it used to be, nor is size the issue it used to be. I am honestly a little surprised they aren't all switching over to carts, disc drives might be dirt cheap but a cart slot is even less and both the drive and the discs themselves are much more prone to breakage. That said, doing so would force devs to cut down on file bloat and we can't have that now, can we?

Using Discs media on a portable was mistake one, the second and last mistake Sony made after moving away from discs was using a overpriced Memory media over SD or Microsd that is now impossible to get. I got a nice PSP GO from a pawn shop but people ask more money for M2 memory cards online than what I paid for the PSP.

I can't blame Sony for choosing a losing portable storage format for the PSP. Nobody knew what was going to be the winner back in 2004. It's kinda funny that all the ones that the $599 launch PS3 supported failed, though.

Pikmin 3 Deluxe just got announced!

It will be fun to see how the Fanbase handles this. Already seeing wants of a Mario remasters and complaining for new games.

I believe there are M2 to SD adapters, but they are clunky.

I was hoping for a Pikmin 3 to come out for the Switch since it was one of the few games I really wanted a Wii U for. Its smart on Nintendo's part since more people own Switches than Wii Us and easy to port and develop with the virus going around.

Adapters for the Pro Duos that the PSPs uses are available but the M2 to SD/Micro SD that the PSP GO and Vita don't exist but I can't find them. If I can't find them and you know where to get them let me know.

Funky Mode for Pikmin 3 would be amazing.

But uh, it's a safe release given how 2020s been kind of a fucked year. I can see Nintendo just popping down WW/TP HD ports and Super Mario 3D World ports for christmas season.
