"Retarded" doesn't mean "poster I dislike" either. Do you know what "pedantic faggot" means?
No, but it does mean "dipshit who thinks that the Switch version of a Playstation Studios game farmed out to a random third party team under duress is going to have any time or effort put into it."

No, that is not what "retarded" means, you donut. (Yes I know what "donut" really means)

so much for being a powerful console...

Here's my thoughts on the Switch 2 so far :

-The price for the hardware itself (450 € ) is fair imo, the Steam Deck and other handhelds with similar specs are all in this price range so I don't understand the outrage over the Switch 2s price.

- The new price for first party games ( 80€ ) is absolutely outrageous, games like Mario kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza should never cost over 60 bucks.

- Having to pay extra ( 10 to 20 bucks ) in order to get the definitive editions of Switch 1 games like Mario Odyssey and Botw is absolutely outrageous. People cry so much about Xbox being anti consumer but at least they had the common courtesy to give you free fps and visual upgrades to your backwards compatible games, ( FPS Boost and Xbox Enhancements ).

- Nintendo only manufacturing 64gb game cartridges is both anti consumer and anti developer. Indie and AA devs that can't afford and/or don't need 64 GB Cartridges for their games are going to be forced to go full digital, Triple A studios and Nintendo themselves are the only ones that are going to be releasing physical games for the Switch 2, what a mess.

- Game Key Cards are absolute BS, they remind of the scams many publishers pulled during last gen with the "Physical" boxes with no discs inside, peak anti consumer BS.

So overall I'm very disappointed with Nintendo right now, the Switch 2s launch was God awful and I can't see myself purchasing one anytime soon. Maybe in two or three years after they have like 20 to 30 Switch 2 first party games out on the market, only then will I consider buying one .

These two pretty much go in hand. Sure, they're offering an alternative, but that's still absolute ass. Either you pay up for 64gb, or you inconvenience the customers instead. Of course, if you can't pay up, then fucking over people is your only option.

Can only speak for Canada, but a base model Switch in these parts is $630 while a base model Steamdeck is $500. It's really not even close.

Most AAA games don't even fit on 64gb cartridges now. At best you will get a partial install or just a game code in your box. So much for being green.

Except Steam Deck was finished and slated for a late 2021 release (delayed a couple months due to COVID), and it was cheaper, plus a little stronger too from what I've heard.

The outrage arises because Nintendo decided to price themselves within a range of other handheld devices that comparatively make their offering woefully unfavorable.

All other competing handhelds are PCs, open platforms that are not subjected to the restrictions and impositions of Nintendo's draconian policies. Worse, comparatively speaking Nintendo is selling a package that is overpriced for the technology it offers and has little added intrinsic value beyond its exclusive catalog of games.

For example, sources have tested the Switch 2 screen, not only its response time is very slow, (33 ms) the claim that it is HDR is borderline false because it is in the bottom tier of brightness and contrast required for true HDR qualification, At bare minimum an LCD screen requires 600 nits and local dimming zones to qualify as true HDR, the Switch 2 is rated at 450 nits and has no local dimming zones yet Nintendo is charging a premium while offering the worst screen of any handheld currently available.

Meanwhile you can get a Steam Deck with an OLED screen with 1 ms response times, 1000 nits of brightness and perfect black levels for not that much more than the price of a Switch 2.

So you get the device you want but not the games you want. Switch 2 will still win.

People who buy a Steam Deck overwhelmingly are PC gamers that have also the freedom to emulate as far as the device's power allows.

People who buy a Switch 2 overwhelmingly are Nintendo gamers and are limited to only play as far as Nintendo's restrictions allow.

It is not a win, especially for people who don't care about what Nintendo has to offer.

Switch sold more on week 1 than Steam Deck did in years 1 and 2 combined. It is a win.
