To play devil's advocate, that's the fanbase's fault at this point.

We all known how draconian Nintendo is when it comes to copyright, so why are the fans subjecting themselves to that old song and dance when they could be putting their talents into making spiritual successors with their own original assets?
Cult mentality, I guess. Why develop the entirety of something like AM2R, only to have Nintendo DMCA it out of existence and then release their own remake for 3DS, when they could have just pulled a Freedom Planet?
Freedom Planet was developed as a Sonic the Hedgehog fan game, but the Sonic assets were replaced with original ones before release, therefore making it an original game all to itself. It was sold on every platform and faced no copyright issues, afaik.

Vivian in Paper Mario is actually just a 男の子 (otokonoko - can be written as 男の娘 too) aka an effeminate man or, like we used to call back in the day for the fun, a trap.
And I doubt Nintendo of Japan ever saw Birdo (or Catherine in nippon) anywhere beyond "what a funny weird alien creature haha"

It gets kinda tiring to see american trannies trying to shove current-year social politics for every relevant trope in japanese media (男装の麗人, 男の娘 , ボク少女, 女体化, etc.) while also claiming the rest is 'sexist' and 'problematic' whenever it is convenient for them to justify their irl debauchery or take a jab at something not conforming to their mass delusions.
Im pretty sure the sister just calls vivian a trap because she is a cunt, not because she is one.

Didn't the pause menu description also call Vivian a trap...?

Vivan is an effeminate-looking boy (aka a trap/otokonoko) in the original japanese version, and this reveal was carried over only for the french and spanish translations.

The sad part is, the GC is not even that great. People hold it up to a pedestal but many of its games were pretty much one-uped by the Wii. Mario Sports and Kart were so much better. I would say that even Brawl was better, maybe even more so than Ultimate tbh.

The GC had its classics like Sunshine, but it is not deserving of the god status it now has..
Lunacy. I'm by no means a hardcore Nintendo fanboy but the Gamecube was a massive step up from the N64 which just shit the bed almost as badly as Sega did.

GC's first party games were kind of meh (not a fan of Sunshine or Double Dash) but the third party games on the system are genuinely great and it often had better versions of multi-platform games (like Killer 7). I can see the faults in it, but the GC was the system that actually got me collecting Nintendo systems and games. I would go so far as to say it had a better line up than the OG Xbox (which was also pretty good). Partly because there was far less shitty shovelware than there was on the Wii.

Explain please.
Well in terms of having no titles available, having titles that don't appeal to people etc. On second thought, Sega might have even done better than the N64. At least people still remember Saturn titles. Other than Mario 64, OOT and Majora's Mask, what other N64 titles are really remembered fondly or stand out compared to games on the GC?

Lol, the average gamer can name precisely zero Saturn titles.

Well, maybe they remember Knights or Panzer Dragoon. N64 had a major boomer coomer resurgence a decade ago that we are still feeling.

I just got done playing some more Pokemon Snap, the game is honestly as good as I remember it being, which is rare for me. Personally, I often find that when I replay games I played as a kid they tend to not hold up as well as I remember.

N64 is one of the few consoles with games that age like a fine wine. There was a small library, but it was a good one.

Banjo Kazooie
Conker's Bad Furr Day
007 Goldeneye

That's 3 off the top of my head. The last one I don't even play but I know people talk about that game highly.
True, I forgot about Goldeneye, you're right about that one.
I tend to think of Conker as an Xbox game because that's the version I have.
Banjo.....eh.

I'll admit I might be dismissive of the N64 because I never owned one and any games from it I own, I own on other systems (like Starfox 64 on 3DS). I'll concede my opinions of it are purely from my own experiences with it.

I just tend to think of GC as a much stronger system as it had a lot of excellent titles, especially from third parties.

This opinion of yours is extremely weird too, fwiw. I mean yeah, if you dig through the library there's good ones (including a lot of games like RE 4, Rogue Leader, Viewtiful Joe, etc. that were actually multiplats) but it lived and died on its Nintendo 1st Party games, just like every post-SNES Nintendo platform did.

*Rogue Leader wasn't multiplatform.

Yeah, but I don't think the GC first party games are that fondly remembered. Mario Sunshine, Luigi's Mansion, Double Dash.......do people really love any of these games? The only first party Nintendo game from the GC era that stands out to me is Wario Ware - which is actually quite fun.

F-Zero doesn't count cause it was a third party developed game.
