You would think Nintendo fans would know of and appreciate the relationship Atlus and Nintendo have. Honestly, SMT 5 and Nocturne should be on that wishlist. Even in terms of console faggotry, this should be a win for them. They just got a remaster of one of the best old school JRPGs, in their own us vs. them world, they just stole a good game from Sony. It's so weird to be a fan of Nintendo and especially Atlus and see people upset about yet more good will between the two companies. The only other companies I can think of that had a better relationship with Nintendo would be Capcom, Rare and Square Soft.
Noctourne is coming to both PS4 and the Switch, it's not an exclusive. That's why there's also another strike against it.

The NA Fandom is making it abundantly clear that they only want pokemon and paper mario for RPGs and anything else belongs in the trash.

Oh okay, all I could find was Nintendo fans screaming about it on Switch one way or the other. That's actually p cool they're keeping it on Sony.

So, I'm new to this thread, I was gonna get some fellow kiwis' input on this. Why is SMT mini direct so bad for Nintendo fans? Was Joker really that surprising? Atlus and Nintendo have enjoyed what may be one of the longest talent/product relationships Nintendo has ever had. SMT has been dominantly Nintendo since the start with Megami Tensei on the Famicom all the way to now, with the only SMT mainline game that wasn't Nintendo, now back home. In fact, the only series that weren't started and stayed on Nintendo consoles are Devil Summoner (Started SEGA and then Sony) and Persona (Also Sony). Atlus and Nintendo are such bros, that Atlus even made one of the better Virtual Boy games Jack Brothers.

Because a good chunk of Nintendo fans are ONLY Nintendo fans. The drought of 3rd parties for the longest time and Nintendo's strategy of leading their consoles success(?) is by making their own titles and basically leading from the front, as opposed to say Sony who effectively makes a bunch of companies make games for them, has I believe conditioned a lot of modern day Nintendo fans to ONLY care about Nintendo titles. Because if you are a diehard Nintendo fan then for the last decade or so you probably only have cared about Nintendo products.

Their are people within this fandom who argue that Simon Belmont, Ryu, and Cloud Strife are not relevant enough video game characters historically to get into Smash. That is as self centered as you can get while being a fan of a company. If Nintendo isn't making it, then who cares? Not all fans and all that, but significant enough to make stinks like this notable.

The Switch would be perfect for all these games and PSX ports and what not. It has dogshit specs, so it can only run visual novels and old-ass games at some decent rate. And instead of doubling down on that, we just get more shitty games boiled down for a dying Switch market.

Personal "Can it run Crysis?" Computer vs. Crysis on Switch, likely at 9 fps. :)

Dude it runs Crystalis at 60 fps.

All I want from Nintendo nowadays is more Wii classics. I would love an Endless Ocean sequel or a sequel to Go Vacation. There was just something so pleasant and relaxing about the Wii era that makes me wish more would treat it better.
If you want more endless ocean you should check out a game called Beyond Blue

Saw that..
Safe to say I am interested. I will add it to my games for PS5 list. There is also Subnautica, which is like a horror version of EO.

Anyway, that is definitely a PS5 game for me. I can add it to my PS4 backwards capability titles along with Nier and Dreams.

Yeah, the lack of variety is bad in this fandom. I think the worst is when you have people like Josh who say they will play 3rd party, but it is only Nintendo-like experiences? They want the games to feel like Nintendo, but never explain what that means. Then you see what they will not play and it makes no sense.

They hate Crash and Sonic even though they are cartoony platformers like Mario. Anything that looks like NES pixel art is bad. Nintendo exclusives like Bayonetta are too adult, ironic as they promote Nintendo being the opposite. Realism is bad. I just cannot get a read on what they would like?

Meanwhile everyone knows who Geno is apparently.
Shantae and Banjo? They promote Shantae as being huge when you can barely find a person who plays the games, and Banjo is very specifically a relic of 90s gaming if you had an N64, you know, the console that lost to the PS1 big time.

Totally anecdotal, but the vast majority of Nintendo fanboys I've interacted with have told me they exclusively play in handheld mode. In fact I would put money that most Nintendo fans today, especially those under the age of say 30 to 35, grew up on their handhelds more than their consoles just by looking at the sales of Gameboy Color/Advance, DS, and 3DS against N64, Gamecube and Wii U.
Honestly do not enjoy handheld mode. It is nice on the occasional trip, but that is about it.

Back in the day of Brawl Sonic's reveal was a huge fucking deal, so I don't know if people hate Sonic's inclusion these days. Crash hate is just gay console war bullshit, Crash is as much of a video game icon as Sonic is these days if not more so considering Sonic as a series is shit.

Banjo at least is from an arguable golden age in Nintendo's history and is relevant from that perspective, then again like I said people argue Ryu and Ken shouldn't exist when Street Fighter is one of the most iconic series of its genre and was a Nintendo game. So fuck if I know what makes sense to these stupid people. I'll understand Banjo a thousand times over before I understand Geno's demand.

As someone who used to be into roster speculation, Geno's demand is particularly weird. People were clamoring for him to be in Brawl, and I remember them being incredibly smug about it. Part of me thinks it was due to the web series Smash Kingdom, which featured Geno as a smug asshole that would threaten to blow up Japan if he didn't get in.

Then with Smash 4, they all died out. Almost no one was clamoring for Geno, aside from maybe Smash Boards.

I stopped roster fagging after Smash 4 came out, and then I turn around and find that Geno is suddenly highly requested again. I have no idea how that happened. And it's all for a character that most people probably thinks looks cool, and nothing else (really, that's it, because almost everyone else is more interesting in SMRPG, Mario included).

Banjo is very specifically a relic of 90s gaming if you had an N64, you know, the console that lost to the PS1 big time.
To be fair, Banjo and Kazooie were pretty much a Nintendo character during their time, not only with their successful games being exclusive to the N64, but also with Banjo being playable in Diddy Kong Racing.
They may not be relevant, but I can understand where the demand was coming from.

I think there are just weird cult groups. Josh has a very vocal minority that hates everything and he portrays Sonic as bad Mario. I have no idea what his feelings on Crash are, but I doubt they are good.

People on SmashBoards were making the argument that Banjo is more relevant and important to gaming as a whole than Castlevania.

I guess I should extend it to Nintendo First-Party, when was the last time you've even heard of a non nintendo game on nintendo consoles being popular?
I think it's nostalgic Nintendo first party. I hear a lot about Splatoon, but most new Nintendo IPs get ignored. No one gives a shit about Arms. In 5-10 years it will enter the realm of nostalgia, at which point we'll get the usual "When's the new Arms game? Arms in Smash!" type fanboying.

I know what you mean. It's impossible to get a read on what they want, but at the same time it's also easy.

For the Nintendo fans I've seen, what they want is nostalgia. Not just re-releases or sequels, though they like those, but games that are in that give the same feelings. I know I've said "nostalgia" enough in this thread to make it seem like I'm getting paid every time I say it, but I think that's a large part of Nintendo's adult fanbase. Like you said, they have to be fans of Nintendo exclusively to stick with them through the Wii until now, and their age of 30-40 lines up well with the glory days of the NES, SNES, and N64. It explains why they go bananas for Banjo, but are ignore games like A Hat In Time.

Find it odd how much the Nintendo fandom hates RPGs. The 3DS was a system many got just for the RPGs. The GBA had tons of them, too. The DS was also a very good RPG system.

Guess the anti-RPG people only care about home consoles.

Banjo didn't popularize an entire genre. Do these kids even know what a gaming history is beyond Nintendo being Japanese Jesus?

Not being serious when referring to Nintendo as a messiah. That's how Nintendo fanboys portray the company.

Correction: After thinking about it, I was incorrect about Banjo. It was one of the big collect-a-thon 3D platformers.

Same here. Even as a kid, there were very few times where I ever was out of the house and thought "Boy, I really want to play games!" wherever or whatever I was doing.

My Switch has almost entirely been a console since I got it. I took it on a few trips with me, but once I started getting Joycon drift I just said fuck it.

That's kind of the issue, they didn't mind RPGs just as long as they stayed in the background on handhelds. But since the switch merged handheld and console they're now wanting RPGs to be pushed out.

RPGs tend to remind them of non-nintendo games and dilutes the brand image in their eyes. it's not just JRPgs but WRPgs too. The Switch version of DOS2 was only a limited run release where as the other platforms had a general release physical edition.

It is sad really...
I liked ARMS, and see it as having potential. All it needs is a sequel to really iron out some mechanics and add more to do, which I hope is actually coming soon.

Splatoon also died after the second game. A bunch of people started yelling about how the game was incomplete, which is understandable. The part that gets me is the people who were mad at the single player campaign and threw a fit about DLC. The main campaign was well done, but apparently it was not good enough for some and they hate that Nintendo locked the “good content“ behind a pay wall.

The funny part is, I am pretty sure people like Josh hate the NES and SNES. There is a group that is basically solely dedicated to the GameCube. It is also funny as Josh hates “nostalgia games.” He throws huge fits over New Super Mario Bros., Kirby, Pokemon, etc.. At the same time though, he hates Odyssey because realism is ruining Mario. The only time he was happy was BOTW.

Basically, he wants Nintendo to be original, but not too original. He wants completely new games and experiences, but they must also fall inline with the GC. He just can be never satisfied. His standards are impossible.

Banjo didn't popularize an entire genre. Do these kids even know what a gaming history is beyond Nintendo being Japanese Jesus?
Apparently Banjo outsold Castlevania according to them, so it is more important.

Smash Boards is basically a cult for roster fags. Every character that has ever been in a video game has a dedicated thread there.
Except they hate tons of characters. Waluigi bad because we can never get over the Twitter event that people apologized for/ they can cover up toxicity of other fanbases. Steve bad because he is liked by kids and Banjo is superior in every way, no one knows who Steve is even though he is the face of the highest selling game of all time. If you are a Sony exclusive character, bad. Fire Emblem is also bad, and so is any Nintendo franchise besides Metroid and Donkey Kong as too many characters.

On the otherhand, random nobodies are always placed at the top whether it be Geno, Shantae, probably some random NES character, etc..

Ironic, as they still want Paper Mario to be an RPG, yet complain about too many rpgs. They even hate Mario & Luigi if I am not mistaken.

The weebs were the lowest of the low on the social totem pole when I was in school. Unless weebs stopped wearing cat ears/taiils and doing weird naruto runs all throughout the school or something than holy shit at getting bullied by them.

Nintendo fans don't *hate* RPG's, they just only like the most entry level, basic ass baby's first RPG's around because it requires them to only think about double digit math until end game and Rock/Paper/Scissors type strategy. That's why they like Paper Mario 1 and Pokemon so much I assume.

There's subgroups of weebs

there's groups of weebs who are bullied by other weebs.
