These people are why the Wii (U) was considered a weak console. All Nintendo did was release their popular franchises, no room for third party offerings or other genres of games. The more options you have for a console, the more people are likely going to buy it.

Nintendo shouldn't just be considered a kids' console, but these fanboys WANT it to be like that.

Mario kart Wii was ass
Personally see it as the best due to roster and tricks, also bikes were not hard to use in Wii compared to 8. I also enjoy seeing the exploits as the game. I can see where you are coming from though, but I think we can both admit that Double Dash is not the greatest that many make it out to be.

How hard is it to play a game and shut up? I hate fandoms.
I like them in terms of group building and getting games more popularity, but they can get extreme if gone wrong.

The Wii U was so weak. It had a few gems, Hyrule Warriors, Donkey Kong, and Splatoon being amongst them. They really needed more variety with stuff like FE. A console cannot be fully built on Mario, Zelda, Smash, and some weird title like Rhythm Heaven or Chibi-Robo like these fans want.

the Wii-U was a weak console because it just continued the trend that started with the gamecube. It put emphasis on gimmick controls that made any normal game on it not use the gimmicks or have the gimmicks be a pain int he ass. They also don't have any proper western developers like Rare anymore who routinely shit out games. nitnendo was great from the NES to n64 era mostly due to them having companies like rare develop games for them that also used their properties as well as their own originals. Nintendo needs supplemental developers.

People may shit on Sony because of Naughty Dog, but their trend of beefing up their western developers to cater towards the largest console market with Original Series works more often than not. They're to the point now where they're cannibalizing Ubisoft's marketshare for the same genres.

DreamcastGuy's a major sperg. I don't fucking get what his probelm is. Obviously he makes his videos as clickbait, but for every little thing, he has to be a problematic tantrum throwing cunt.

Ive always felt like having loyalty to a major corporation is as stupid as having loyalty to a politician or political party.

I get supporting small local businesses and having loyalty there, buying merch and shit, even having "loyalty" to your local regional grocery store chain because they strive to meet the consumer demands of that specific region. Fuck, I even understand restaurant chain fights like "Chick Fil A is better than Popeyes! NUH HUH FAG YOURE WRONG", but a major national or multinational corporation? Especially to the point these guys take it.

Like Nintendo does not care if you "cheat on them" and play Playstation 5, dude.

Nintendo has been shit for quite some time. It started with the Wii, when they decided to focus on gimmicks. The Wii U, the DLCs inside cheap NFC figurines, etc. Let's not forget that time they tried to sell a piece of cardboard for 40 $/€.

What's amazing is all the retards who seriously though a 10 minute video, that literally specified it was going to be about 3rd stuff, was going to have F-zero, a port of six 3D mario games, a new smash character and even more. Like Jesus Christ, believing 4chan spergs and """leakers""" that got 1 thing right by pure luck and then act like they are Nostradamus (Eg. Vergeben) is stupid as is, but literally not being able to read what's on your screen is a whole new level of autism.

If those fucking fuckers didn't touch Dragon Quest the grandfather of all turnbased JRPGs, there is no way in fuck they are going to touch a derivative series.

Please those were the fuckers that got a obliterated anus after Hero was announced for Smash because they could not be arse to play Dragon Quest 1-3 (granted the only way to play legit was on Phones and recently on Switch), meanwhile Japan lost their collective minds just because Erdrick and the other heroes were in the game

Edited for corrections: 4-6 and 9 are on DS,7 and 8 is on 3DS, 11 is everywhere and 10 is a MMO but JP only

The major issue with the Wii U was confusion in the marketplace. When Nintendo showed it off for the first time, it just focused off the gamepad. A lot of normies though it was an expensive add-on for the Wii. If they had used a different name rather than Wii U, it might have done better. It didn't help that Nintendo didn't have a show stopping title at launch or at all until BOTW. The library was mainly a lot of remakes and rehashes. New Super Mario Bros U looked like the Wii version but with clearer graphics.

I think my major issue with Nintendo is they still act like they're a toy company. They enforce false scarcity because it'll make people want their product even more. Sony still sold a shit ton of PS4, if they're to be believed and not inflating their numbers, and they never did this shit. I really take offense to it because it inadvertently supports the online scalpers market and those people need to go away like last year. This isn't anything new. They've done this shit since the late 80s when Super Mario Bros 2 came out.

Here's a fat canadian pajeet explaining it better.

I will shoot the next dipshit who says that Persona 5 needs to be ported to Switch because "Smash Bros made it popular".

Mario kart Wii was ass. Mario kart 8 Deluxe was better than Double Dash but Mario kart 64 is still the example of perfection in the series.

You wanna know why MK64 was so good? The tracks were more open and gave you freedom. It had the most official and unoffical short cuts in the series and Battle mode is still the best with Block Fort.
Mario Kart Wii was a good game. The worst part about it was the bloom. Also that little itty bitty issue of the AI being way too hard at 150cc and above. That's why the game is bullshit.

Unfortunately I don't think this is ever going to change unless one of Nintendo's side ventures becomes a major part of their annual revenue stream. It is a blessing and a curse that they effectively only make video games.

I agree. In normal times, this usually isn't an issue. But for products that are super popular or the holidays, its sucks. Right now is even worse since everyone has free time due to covid and wants a Switch.

Joy-Con drift has really worn a lot of Nintendo's good will away for me. I can forgive a lot, but ongoing manufacturing defects are not one of those things. And when you reconcile the unreliability of the hardware versus the cost of that hardware it becomes incredibly offensive from a consumer standpoint. I've held off on buying games I want because I want to play them with a specific controller configuration but don't want to spend 80-100 bucks (minimum) to have the privilege of owning a controller that will break in eight weeks.

And it sucks because a lot of Nintendo's games are by far the best you can get.

Taking them apart, you'll end up with a labor-heavy product with a ton of small, custom parts. Yet, they didn't design an analog that would fit durability standards and just went for the smallest, cheapest available on the Chinese market. How those passed QC is puzzling considering launch revisions also had poor signal on the left one.

Also, the Switch really did bring out something weird out of people.

Shifting manufacturing to China from Japan was a huge mistake for Nintendo. I also recognize that nothing was going to stop that from happening. But still... all of my "Made in Japan" Nintendo hardware still works like the day I bought it. Any failures I've had with that stuff is within acceptable bounds for a product manufactured in mass quantities or due to user error.

I am excited to play two SMT games on the Switch after playing Strange Journeys on the 3DS since its convenience to play them on the go.
I said it on another thread but I will say it again here. Nintendo gets complacent, greedy, and lazy when they are doing well but when they struggle they focused on more desirable games and be more giving.

Apologies in advance for the tism, but Nintendo fans are a favourite topic of mine to rant about.

There are many kinds of Nintendo fan. You already identified the two main kinds in the OP. Consoomers and cynics. I’d say there is a third kind, a variant of the two I call “nostalgic gen-x fanboy”.

These are the Moviebob’s of the world. Like cynics, all they do is complain about the lack of Nintendo games while refusing to play any other console, but like consoomers, they re-buy their NES collection for $8 a rom on every new piece of hardware without question.

I don’t want to turn this into a Moviebob thread, but he is the ur example of this kind of behaviour. Lamenting the death of 8-bit pixel art platform games, while refusing to look at games like Shovel Knight and any of the hundreds such games on Steam. They will bemoan the death of creativity and originality, and complain about all the sequels and remasters released these days, but then only buy sequels and remasters of their nostalgic favourites.

There seems to be some overlap with the blackpill doomsday cultist type of gamer who prays for the day when the crash will come again, wiping away the scourge of Call of Duty and PubG, then Iwata will rise from the ashes and reign for a thousand years.

I know there’s some division on the farms over games as art, but the Nintendo community is almost the mirror image of hipsters that look down on anything that isn’t some diversity filled walking simulator. To most nostalgic gen-x fanboys, the idea that games could be anything more mature than bing bing wahoo for children is fiercely attacked. There are some exceptions though. I still remember a time when people were demanding a grim and gritty Zelda game, of course Darksiders didn’t count.

I think the combination of nostalgia and insistence that things be kid friendly might also explain some of the hatred for anime games. Yes, they are first party Nintendo, but they aren’t the characters they grew up with, and they tend to have stories, themes, and gameplay that goes over the head of a typical 6 year old.

There was a Nintendo community I considered making a thread about when I first joined Kiwi Farms. They were on Disqus as “Video Game Facts”, and could usually be found getting into flamewars in the Niche Gamer comments sections. I think they shut down because a simple google search doesn’t bring the group up any more. If they’re still around, they’re well worth looking into as an example of the worst Nintendo has to offer.

I don’t think I have the screenshots any more, but I have vague memories of them ignoring Bayonetta 1 when it was a Xbox 360 game, praising Bayonetta as the best series ever when Bayonetta 2 was Nintendo exclusive, then throwing a tantrum calling the game worse than shit when Bayonetta 1 got a PC port.

Like Jesus Christ, believing 4chan spergs and """leakers""" that got 1 thing right by pure luck and then act like they are Nostradamus (Eg. Vergeben) is stupid as is,
I never understood the obsession with leakers. "Oh, you know that character X is going to be in Smash 15 minutes before everybody else. Congratulations?"
