Ah Jeeez Goytendo... as much as I'd like to pay out the ass for old Wii games, I'm gonna have to say, no.

If I was in command of the company, I would gently ask the man that suggested selling a crappy add on for the virtual boy and demand for him to commit seppuku.
I learnes this from disney: a company unironically bringing back what they perceive as their biggest failure is not scraping the bottom of the barrel, its a desperate call for help.

I went to vimm.net and downloaded Mario 64 when I read your post just to see if it worked.
Hmm, maybe it is blocking based on territory. I am still seeing unclickable text for the links to Nintendo stuff.

Not a big deal, I grabbed full-library torrents instead of going piecemeal when I started having trouble with The Vault.

:optimistic:I mean, the last Mario movie wasn’t bad so maybe this one won’t be either?:optimistic:

Hopefully Mario is less of a bumbling buffoon and Peach is less girlboss.

Crossposting, but does all this make Nintendo the worst company now?

Don't know if I'd go so far as to call them the EA of Japan.
Nintendo is less woke so they're the lesser evil, for now... They really are fucking greedy though.

They most absolutely do this, in fact they've been doing this since the NES days with piracy.

Want to mod Dr. Mario? Too bad, if even one of your hexidecimals is off, enjoy your new paperweight.

Hell, the entire point of "Nintendo Seal Of Approval" was so bootleg carts wouldn't work. (that didn't stop bootlegers anyway though)

EA took it a step forward by literally causing some computers to brick themselves with the Secure Boot requirement, and those people didn't even try to mod the games.

You haven't been following what's going on, have you? Pokemon is getting more woke each year.

They still have yet to reach the extreme levels of rainbow shit EA puts in The Sims 4, i.e. Pre-made non-binary CHILD sims, CHESTFEEDING, pronouns, sexual preferences that "cannot be turned off because you cannot turn them off in real-life", to name a few. And the game is a buggy shitfest too, as bad or even worse than Scarlet and Violet was on launch Switch 1.

Nintendo got Mario friend-zoned, so there's a chance the second movie will have more girlboss shit with Peach and Rosalina. To play devil's advocate, Pauline is more or less a girlboss nowadays.

That's Game Freak's doing, but Nintendo is partially at fault for not telling them to stop.

How? Pauline was helpless without DK and got kidnapped, she's more of a damsel-in-distress lately than Peach.

I double checked since i haven’t tried to download Nintendo roms since they pulled a bunch of first party titles. And they seem to be back up on the vault. Not sure how long until the big N notices and sends their lawyers.

Excerpt from "The Economic Times":
Devon Pritchard is an American business executive who currently serves as executive vice president of revenue at Nintendo of America, a position she has held since 2021. She joined Nintendo in 2006 and has spent nearly two decades in senior leadership roles, overseeing sales, marketing, and revenue operations. Beyond Nintendo, Pritchard has also been a board member of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Bellevue since 2014.

Synopsis from Brave Leo:
Shibata began his career in Nintendo's Sales Department in Japan before moving to overseas branches, where he worked for over 20 years.
He served as Managing Director of Nintendo Australia from 1999 to 2000 and then as President of Nintendo of Europe from 2000 to 2018.
After his tenure in Europe, Shibata was appointed Executive Officer at Nintendo in 2016.
He was promoted to Senior Executive Officer in 2018 and then to Managing Executive Officer in 2022.
He currently holds the position of Managing Executive Officer and Corporate Director at Nintendo, overseeing key areas including sales, publisher & developer relations, marketing, and promotion.
Since May 2018, Shibata has served as an Outside Director of The Pokémon Company, a position he assumed following the departure of Shuntaro Furukawa.

TL;DR: Both have similar backgrounds with degrees in law and their careers are focused on marketing and sales. The days of Satoru Iwata "in my mind I'm a game developers but in my heart I'm a gamer" are gone.

She exudes a "How you do, fellow kids?" energy and the charisma of a stick-in-the-mud. She should have the foresight to stay away from taking part of any Direct.

How has Vimm's Lair been able to stay up this long? Not that I'm complaining, but back in the day I remember rom sites getting shut down left and right by Nintendo.
I don't think Vimm is making any money, which is generally the thing that let's Nintendo go all-out legally on a site and get them shut down. If a rom site isn't making money, then Nintendo can't do as much beyond send takedown requests and then sue if the requests are ignored.

They have ads on the download pages, which equates to using the ROMs to generate revenue, which is considered commercial piracy.

There is no requirement to profit from it in order to end up in deep shit.
