My first thought on seeing this travesty is that all the ingredients are things you'd find in a prison commissary. I wouldn't be surprised if that's exactly where it came from.
I wonder how it's sending them to the hospital. Nothing in it seems too extreme. It wouldn't be spicy enough to make you sick unless you were a total lightweight. It's also insanely salty, but I don't think it would have much more sodium than the average meal at Denny's.
Maybe they're just so sick from their normal shitty diet that it kicked their preexisting diseases up a notch.
Classic soul food is actually pretty excellent and one of the primary varieties of Southern food. It has some pretty unhealthy dishes in it, but they're delicious. They also use actual, real seasonings like paprika and celery seed and not just the unholy mix of Lawry's seasoned salt and other Dollar General tier powdered shit.
So a real soul food meal might be something like Southern fried catfish with collard greens fried in bacon grease and peach cobbler for dessert, that is, something even Southern white people might eat. The main difference is in the spice profile.
So I wouldn't really put soul food in the "niggers eating cornstarch" category. It's actually food fit for humans.
