A former friend of mine married a man who literally ended up homeless because he spent too much money on World of Warcraft.

Get married at 18 and marry your HS sweetheart.
She gets fat, spending your money on food for her disgusting eating habits.
Slides two to three little shits you have to care for.
One of them may not be yours.

They call them 'dependapotamuses', don't they?

The US Army is an entire organization of these people.

Get paid 2-3k a month.
Spend it on Jordans.
Spend it on video games.
Spend it on alcohol.
Lots of alcohol.
Liver-failing amounts.
Spend it at the bars and clubs off post trying to pick up 3/10s.
Spend it on Dodge Chargers/Mustangs with a 32% APR.

Congrats! You're trapped in the Army because its a stable money flow and you can't escape. Kill yourself or feel self-hatred for the rest of your life.

I saved my money by having only $500 in my checking account and saved everything else when paycheck hit. Then I get asked by people older than me, completely baffled, how I have so much money now.
I fucking hate the military.
The spending hazard pay on cars you cannot afford nor pay the insurance for as a 19 year old retard was a Huge one.

Americans love to financially die on their car costs. I'm convinced its probably as bad if not worse of a debt trap than ccs. Not only do they take out large loans which eat at their savings, but insurance and repairs get worse as you get nicer and nicer cars. And once you recognize that most "luxury" cars are just shitty brands with a rebranded badge it becomes more absurd. Cars are only cool if there's a story other than 'I bought it last year at the dealership for 10% over msrp'.

I know a guy that spent 130k on a jaguar (Tata lol) as a mid life crisis spend. Even if you're an engineer like him that's pretty dumb and pathetic.

I swear anytime I try and support local business it's such a mixed bag it's crazy.
>buy some wipes made somewhat locally
>it's completely dried out
>can't refund it

The dude at the register is helpful at least and points me to decent tools.

Or I buy something that is obviously Chinese built, and it breaks not even a week later. This happened to me twice this week since I'm trying to do work on my yard. I swear it's such a gamble to buy shit these days without doing online research. Everything is such poor quality. I don't know if people just tolerate it from the lack if caring, or that is just the state of the economy right now, or maybe both.

I don't know why people who are up to their neck in debt don't just wash their hands of it and either temporarily nuke their credit by being a deadbeat borrower and stop paying (If they're threatening you with court you can always settle for pennies on the dollar) or declare bankruptcy rather than scrape by living like a pauper paying that debt off.

Also the glamorizing struggling in poverty (Love the beans and rice comment in OP's post) from Dave Ramsey type retards gets seriously fucking old.

Buying anything other than a Lexus or Acura for a luxury car in the US is seriously taking crazy pills.

DSP's weens were so obnoxious and made such a nuisance of the whole proceeding that the Judge, IRS, and banks all agreed to just wipe his debts free with barely any consequence to DSP. Total pig victory, he's a finance savant.

A guy I know got laid off a few months ago. He had a pretty well-paying job.

He hasn't gone on unemployment, because he has severance and savings.

Literally leaving thousands of dollars at the table.

In the past year or so I've convince two other people with the same mentality to go on unemployment. They wouldn't have otherwise.

It's weird.
White people have pride and don't like taking handouts unless they desperately need them.

Is it really a handout when it's your own money that you've paid into a system for and are entitled to?

I shouldn't have said handout, that's the wrong word. I was trying to say the system is designed as a safety net, not gibs me dat. Imagine how well the system would work if we didn't have a gibs me dat class?

I'm absolutely pro contributors to society claiming unemployment when they lose their job. But I can understand why they wouldn't want to if they don't need to.

my moms friend grew up poor and was embarrassed by that so she went and dropped 20k on her daughters furniture when she only makes 50k a year
