I’d find the concept of certain characters reincarnating across the series cool. Zero and Kaine always had similar personalities. And they’re both singularities. And I’m not sure how the concept of a “soul” works in Nier, but maybe it’s possible that Zero’s soul can reincarnate in a robot.

My personal pet theory for awhile.

Also I just gotta mention it. Square enix is gay as fuck for not releasing reincarnation on consoles or pc.

well A2 is directly based off data on Kaine, as confirmed in all the weird side content
 
I think one of the downsides of Nier/Drakengard is that despite the lore being interesting(for me) the fact that one has to go out of their way to look up for books, plays, audio dramas, etc. Now mind you some of those are japan only and some dont have subs if you dont speak japanese youre basically fucked, although i know there has been a community effort to translate the books and such. Point is that i wish Taro would stop making every canon to the franchise and just work on getting the deep lore accessible to the western fans.

I can promise you, he isn't going to do that, be happy that he's a creator that likes making content and cares about and thinks about his little world(s) at all.

i know, but a kiwi can dream, i guess in its own weird way, going out of ones way to look up and consume said media shows love that he wants for his series and sounds like something he would intentionally do.

I just want him to go back into making games. Square Enix could have made bank with him making more games post Automata and instead wasted all the good will on 3 dead gacha games.

no, the conclusion to Nier and Automata happens in the FF14 crossover Raid series, its even siller, because if you want to experince that, you need to play through about 100 hours of story content to get to Shadowbringers (FF14's story is THAT long, but it is good) and then beat Shadowbringers and unlock the Raid series.

I've heard https://nierrein.com/ has most/all of the content of the dead gacha game if you want to skip the gacha and watch the story bits.

Square Enix could have had an entire fucking franchise building up from automata but instead gamba it all on shitty gacha that it burned down to the ground rather than preserve any part of.

Square Enix deserves to go bankrupt.

Not just that, they put Platinum on that shitty Babylon's Fall game, and Yoko Taro on Voice of Cards. This after Nier Automata was nominated for and won a bunch of game awards and had great sales numbers. The remaster of the original Nier was good but Taro was always open about "sure I'll write more Nier if you pay me" but SE fucked everything up.

I hate squeenix. I can barely remember the story of Yorha Dark Apocalypse but that’s ridiculous.

Buddy it has nothing to do with them, the Creator is fully the one putting important story shit in stage plays and final fantasy MMOs.
Just watch the cutscenes for the raid online, effectively the plot is that the Watchers are super powerful... For the Nier world, and get curbstomped by the MC of FF 14 who is effectively an overpowered godkiller

For the record, Babylon’s Fall being multiplayer live service focused was entirely the call of Platinum (they even opened a studio in Tokyo to work on live service games).
 
I pity the new people getting into the lore of Drakengard/Nier because if they want to get the complete story and not listen to a faggy youtuber, they have to:
-play the games(easy enough)
-read the novels(good luck if you dont speak 日本)
-Watch Stage Plays
-Look up the gacha game story
-Play FF14 for triple digit hours
-Watch orchestra where at the end, randomly 2b and 9S VA appear and do voices


I know all can be circumvented by just watching summaries and such, but for the puritans or atleast the ones who want to know the story without outside input, is gonna be painful. Which is why i always recommend people to just stick with playing the games (Drakengard 1 and 3, Nier Replicant and Automata) and just leave them to interpret the ending for themselves lest they want to step into the abyss that is Yoko Taro and his clusterfuck of spreading the lore into all types of media.

I hate how the real endings for some of the games are locked behind some untranslated Japanese book that no one’s ever heard of. I’m glad they fixed that in the Nier Replicant remaster, but Drakengard 3 is still a mess in that regard. Ending A is “close enough” at least. (And yes lorefags I know that leads to shi na itaru niggers tongue my anus aka.)
 
They should remake Drakengard 3 and add all the lore that originally is in outside media. Zero my beloved i wanna hear you be a bitch in 60 fps and not have my frames dip into single digits when youre murdering people.
 
Anyone ever played the voice of cards games? Thought I’d try them with the Nier music pack as I’ve already played all the Nier and Drakengard games. Isle Dragon Roars isn’t too bad if you play on high speed. The Yoko Taro writing picks up a little bit in the latter half, but I would prefer another game on the scale of Nier or Drakengard.

I played a bit of one and forgot it exists a day later. It just feels too generic to be worth my time, maybe interesting stuff happens later but there isn't a real guarantee it will worth the time.
