I really enjoyed Nier as well as Drakengard 1 and 3. I have yet to play Automota, and I have no idea when, or if I’ll ever play it.
Nier was a smaller scale game than I anticipated going in, but it was very solidly crafted and the story and characters were beautiful.
A friend sent me Drakengard 3, a game that was a bit rough around the edges, but I still wound up loving it as well. I still remember being caught completely off guard by the final boss and spending such a long time trying to beat it. But I can’t help but love it for being so visually stunning and having such beautiful music.
Drakengard 1 was most definitely an experience. Gameplay wise, it’s incredibly rough, and the methods of getting the last ending were incredibly obtuse without a guide. But it still had a memorable cast consisting of vile human beings as well as some subject matter that somehow flew under the radar. It’s definitely what I would call a flawed gem.
