He's sad about Pico. Not sad enough not to approve new plushies to promote the new documentary, of course, but very very sad. The promo art of said documentary is a portrait of Pico, but his interview will contain Tom's "conflicted thoughts" about him. It sounds like a guy telling a girl he wants to fuck all of her and not just her body or worse an OF model trying to make it deeper than just shaking her tits. I know Tom has been a bit depressed in recent years (Takeover Tuesday was originally supposed to be something crazy like the site not operating on Mondays to show people "what they'd lose without Newgrounds") but good god. From edge lord to cringe lord in very few steps.

Despite everything Tom is actually pretty normal and I think he's a good case for how the cultural environment of the last quarter century has turned people against themselves and pretty much destroyed their resilience and mental health.
Pico to my knowledge was simply a criticism of the whole situation at virgina tech. I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure that it upset him. I do get that vibe from him, the depression. Also from having experience the website now, it seems more lock-down then ever from the outside world and it exists in its own little bubble, its users oblivious to the outside world and hateful of anything from the outside poking in, as it was in the past.

We are all human. The political situation and economic situation is not good and hurts those that have been through it before really takes a toll and older people. The guy is in his 40s and its supposed to be a golden time of reflection for most people, IMO. He did alot of good.

Pico was before virgina tech (atleast the first game was). Tom just grow up/old and lost touch with his edgy self, which is fine since thats life. People change.

Pico was a direct response (and parody of) the Columbine shooting.
Tom Fulp is reaching levels of gay previously unthinkable. Genuinely wondering if he's just going to pull the site one day and that'll be that.

There seems to be a trend within the Newgrounds veterans of them eventually feeling ashamed of the things they posted and said back in the day and becoming huge moral pussies, which is sadly expected as people just move on from things, but it doesn't make it any less gay when they start preaching against the shit that made them famous in the first place.
Jeff (JohnnyUtah) is the perfect example of this as he was once an edgy no nonsense guy but now acts like a faggy tough guy who can only talk shit behind people's backs.

As you say, it's only natural that people "just move on from things". It's just as natural as an actress's tits sagging (and hopefully her gaining more acting chops) as she ages. The thing is, when an aging actress complains about the kind of topless scenes that launched her career, we all know what's up. At least with acting hags their topless residuals have usually dried up along with their cunts. With the OG NG crew, they're still just known for school shootings, clubbing seals, and homophobia and they're still exploiting it. Tom with the doco, Mindchamber selling Pico merch directly. There's not even a fig leaf to cover "this was fine for me but not you" it's obviously just sabotaging the younger hipper competition.

Plus, no one who defended Shadman as long as they did needs to ever make a public judgment of someone else's character, full stop. It's crazy how none of them seem to realise this.

Perhaps they preferred to look at the positives of people’s nature then the ugly ones. Let’s face it, everyone is a kind of thier own monster, but it’s what you do outside that one ugly aspect is what makes you more human then people who just straight up kill or hurt people.

I outgrew a bunch of ex-girlfriends. My cock won't be inside them tonight.

You basically keep repeating some version of "they've grown" over and over without actually addressing the fact that they are still actively profiting from and promoting the things they've supposedly left behind. Do you have something to say about that or are you just slide posting?

I just remembered something - this isn't anything new.
In the mid 2000's, someone made a game parodying Sandy Hook around the time of the murders.
Despite being far less offensive than Pico's School, Tom took it down personally.

It's frustrating that people can separate the YouTube platform from all the racist homophobic viewpoints expressed there... Even all the Sandy Hook hoax videos... But when it comes to NG, these interest groups and the press need tum every controversy into an indictment on NG itself.

Oh boy. This one's where I have a problem with not just Tom but almost every retarded prog on the site. Remember: the media is only ever wrong about Newgrounds! Gamergate and Kiwifarms are exactly what the media says they are!

I'm not sure what kind of response you would like from me. Not familiar with the term "slide posting". Just because you made a game that sold well and now you feel differently about it years later and would rather remove is a emotional response. The emotional response if acted upon in this case would be a net negative overall for Newgrounds.

Additionally, I find it hard to justify that Tom is making any money from an old webgame when he himself says the site isn't making money. Could he perhaps be lying? Its hard to say when you are not a publicly traded company that has to publicly report earnings and losses.

Apologies for forgetting I'm on Kiwi Farms. To be as explicit and as nuance free as a natural language allows: when lay people say that a person is doing something "for money" the majority of the time (not every time, words as used in practice are sadly non-deterministic) but the majority of the time they mean that the person is making something available as part of a *revenue* stream, regardless of whether a profit is actually being achieved. Thus as used in practice for the majority of its use in English, Tom can be exploiting Pico "for money" even if Newgrounds is posting net losses. I get how this might be confusing, but the reasoning is actually pretty straight-forward. Most of the time when people point out that someone is doing something "for money", they are using that as evidence that they endorse it in some way. This is because most attempts at capturing revenue involve either performing an activity on demand or making something available. That was the case I was trying to make. For example, most people would see Tom approving artwork featuring Pico as part of a larger conversion chain (interest in Pico -> interest in the site -> supporter) as endorsement of Pico because it literally increases the amount of Pico in the world and they would say he was doing it "for money" even if that last step in a conversion chain is not achieved to the level of revenue minus cost being a positive number. The same is true for continuing to host "old web games" as they are still the majority of non-porn views on Newgrounds. You see a similar linguistic angle when people bring up someone being a drug dealer or a prostitute as a way of impugning someone's character. People believe distributing drugs and lose sex are bad in and of themselves and they believe that physically distributing drugs and opening up your cunt and accepting strange dick is an endorsement of these things regardless of whether someone is beating the market doing so.

I'm not sure what kind of response you would like from me.

Again, apologies for being overly flowery. To lay it out: I would love your explicit thoughts on two questions:

1) What evidence do we have for Tom "outgrowing" or "regretting" Pico beyond cheap words in a blog post? What direct action? He continues to host Pico. He continues to endorse new Pico content. Literally the site advertised Pico day every visit from a fresh IP for the last three months as part of its DDOS landing page. Whether you agree with my characterisation of these as being "for the money" they seem to speak louder as endorsements than a blog post does as an indictment.

2) Why should we not think of Tom as an anti-competitive hypocrite when he continues to host Pico content but removes milder school shooter content from younger creators? So as to not be misunderstood: I think Tom shouldn't remove any school shooter content, including his own. There are those that think he should remove all school shooter content. Both my group and this opposing group see Tom's behavior as selfish and hypocritical because he is acting exactly as a selfish hypocrite would: removing other people's content but not his own.
