As a relatively recent fan with no particular love for him specifically, its still crushing to hear this. Its like Kobe and the helicopter crash or Michael Schumacher skiing.

You just suddenly hear about it and its depressing as fuck.

I guess its true you never know when its going to happen. Huge bummer.

I think I know what people felt about Dale, just a little bit.
It’s a bit different since with Dale it was like if Michael Jordan died on the basketball court of a heart attack or something. The greatest to ever do it dying while doing what they loved. It’s one of two times I’ve ever cried while watching TV (granted I was 11 at the time) the other being when Greg Moore died two years earlier in 1999 at Fontana in CART. And I saw both of them happen live. Seeing my favorite Indycar and NASCAR drivers respectively die in a relatively short period of time basically made me reevaluate why I love racing and while I love stick and ball sports, nothing can match the prestige of racing of watching ordinary men do extraordinary things conquering both technology and nature. You never know when it will be your favorite driver’s last win, and you never know when it will be their last time behind the wheel. Kyle was never favorite driver and that’s mostly due to me falling out of love with NASCAR, but I always appreciated the insane natural talent he’s always had. Feels fucking surreal seeing a guy who I’ve basically watched his entire career from when he was making truck starts as a 16-year-old in 2000 and now’s he gone.

How does a seemingly healthy man in his 40s go from normal to hospitalized to dead in 8 hours? That doesn't even seem like a heart attack or stroke. It's not like he dropped dead on the spot.
It could be he was ignoring an ongoing illness until it became too much. John Ritter and Jim Henson are the 2 go to examples. Or it just as likely could be heart, or a stroke of some sort. His profession is hard on the body long term. Heart attacks are not always instantly fatal, nor are they a guaranteed survival if you make it to the ER. It all depends on how much damage. The way they worded the earlier statement about him being hospitalized with a severe illness made me think he was on a ventilator. They may also have been keeping him on a ventilator until the family could get there.

It sucks and I feel so bad for his family. You know they had to be prepared for the worst every weekend. But not like this. He was too young. His kids are too young.

If the origin was a sinus infection, there is a really good chance that it was an atypical organism, resulting in meningoencephalitis (an infection that went right from the sinuses into the brain), which, if not identified and treated promptly, would be absolutely fatal.
Yeah, the odds are insanely low, but this really does sound like it could be Naegleria Fowleri, aka the Brain-Eating Amoeba. It'll kill anyone really fast and is basically undetectable, since it's so quick acting and so rare that doctors never bother to check for it. I wonder if he swam in any freshwater lakes recently.

RIP I didn't care for him. But he was one heck of a racer.

Here's a pic I took years ago when I was at a driver's meeting. Second row.

If you had said at the start of 2026 that Kyle Busch would be dead by the end of the year, everybody would've called you insane. He was one heck of a driver that much is for sure and he will be missed.

I'm a newfag who got a bit into Nascar through the Emplemon videos, but I can't imagine what it had to be like being a Nascar fan in 1993 watching 2 drivers who were in the absolute prime of their careers with Alan Kulwicki who was the reigning cup champion after an underdog upset victory and Davey Allison who was setting up to be one of the top drivers in Nascar both die in aerial accidents right before they were set to race in their best tracks.

41 year old man, dies suddenly, and they are not disclosing the illness? Suicide? Sucks either way.
Per AP:
Busch was testing in the Chevrolet racing simulator in Concord on Wednesday when he became unresponsive and was transported to a hospital in Charlotte, several people familiar with the situation told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because details have not been disclosed by Busch’s team or family.
I've heard a couple theories (pneumonia, meningitis), but suicide presumably not (lol)
