godspeed little autist. you need it.
Oh happy day. New chapter dropped. More terrible-ness to go along with it. Let's get right in.
Boruto TBV Ch. 9
Himawari and Shikadai's team are confronted by Jura, the main Divine Tree guy, and Evil Sasuke. They're confused because they were following Naruto's trail and somehow found Nine Tails chakra in Himawari. They decide to let Shikadai and co. go if they hand her over so they can devour her and understand what's going on. I don't know why they really need to devour her to do this but oh well. They fight briefly before Shikadai calls daddy. Honestly this exchange goes on for like 5-10 pages and not much happens. It's pretty boring and kinda wasted. Kawaki wakes up after getting bitch slapped by Jura last chapter.
We cut to Kashin Koji who somehow knows Konoha is under attack. I guess he has a bunch of toads there that somehow nobody noticed? Either way, he tells Boruto to go and Boruto teleports off. I really don't know how he's coming and going so far, so quickly when his flying raijin "isn't all that good" but whatever. A toad in Shikamaru's office tells him that Boruto is on the way. Seriously how does nobody notice this? Anyway, Kawaki is told by Delta that Himawari is in trouble and is under attack. Instead of going to help his sister though, he immediately senses Boruto and says "Nah, fuck her. She got this." And chases after him. What a dick. He confronts Boruto and seems to think the Divine Trees are with Boruto for some reason. Kawaki acts bizarre in this scene. Boruto offers to go together to save Himawari, but Kawaki isn't interested.
They have what I can only describe as a pretty awkwardly drawn fight scene. A lot of fight scenes are awkwardly drawn, but this is the first one I can't tell what's going on. He fires these rods at Boruto from behind. I think he dodges them, but it's hard to tell. The next panel is from overhead and you should see the rods still, but instead they're not there. Boruto didn't do anything to them and I don't think Kawaki used Sukuna Hikona. He doesn't appear to. He flings more, and I think he dodges them again, and as they would be normally heading in Kawaki's direction, they just kind of disappear between panels like they never existed. It's a very odd fight scene when you to try to follow it. Kawaki charges Boruto and...FOR THE 7TH OUT OF 9 CHAPTERS, WHICH IS EVERY CHAPTER HE'S APPEARED IN, KAWAKI GETS BITCH SLAPPED AGAIN. Boruto just punches him to the ground and mocks him for being so pathetically weak. It's honestly pretty humiliating how pathetic he is. His karma activates and Boruto's starts going out of control so he flees off to go help Himawari.
The rest of the chapter is Shikadai and his time trying to protect Himawari. They decide to flee, and as they're fleeing, Himawari says she's going to try to escape on her own to not drag them into this any further since they're only after her. Before she can do anything though, she's dragged into the Tailed Beast room where a reborn Lil Kurama asks her if she knows who he is and the chapter ends.
Honest this whole thing is such a nothing chapter. This had no reason to be 40 pages long and you could've easily sped up the pace and done this is in 20. I will say one thing, and that's according to the lore, Tailed Beasts revive OUTSIDE in the world, not reincarnated within someone else. But hell, who's paying attention to lore anymore?
In terms of bad art, there isn't much aside from the above mentioned fight. This was a bit of a break for Ikemoto as most of the chapter is dialogue and bottle showing. Just some things I find odd though, Cho-Cho's post time skip design doesn't really suit her well when action scenes start. A girl that fat moving around and being active, yet stiff is pretty unsightly. In another quick panel, Sarada is still ninja-running in heels which will never not be funny. Another thing I'd like to mention is Kawaki's hair. It's very dynamic and constantly changes. I don't think there's a static model but I guess Ikemoto/Kishimoto just like drawing it because there's so many variations of it. Not a nitpick or anything, just something I noticed. We'll end on a good note. Lil Kurama is impossible to not be adorable.
