So I didn't see a thread about today's missile launch. While it old news nowadays when n.k. launches one of these, things seem to be getting pretty hot on the Peninsula. N.K. is a bit of a fascination of mine, I really think if kim feels like he's in a corner, china turns their back fully, he would absolutely go down swinging, I've never really been worried about them hitting the us, but Seoul is like 30 miles away and Tokyo is pretty close too. What do you guys think, is this just gonna cool down on its own like all the other times we thought the kims were gonna do something drastic or is it Korean War part deux

Well, if their track record with missile launches is anything to go by, Seoul and Tokyo would only be in trouble if they were directly beneath the launchpad.
Basically only reason anyone takes North Korea even slightly seriously is because fucking every weapon they have is pointed at Seoul. While it's true that the entire free world will stomp NK under its boot if it ever attacked its neighbor, we wouldn't be able to deal with it fast enough to avoid a fuckton of lives being lost if NK ever did.

It's a real shitty scenario, and it's basically the only reason anyone entertains the Kim dynasty's batshit insanity. That and the flood of refugees that'd swarm China and South Korea; China basically lets North Korea exist solely to act as a buffer zone between itself and South Korea. But honestly, considering that North Korea's been getting increasingly ballsy these last few years, I wouldn't be surprised if China seizes control from Kim Jong-Un sometime in the next five, ten years.

The other reason is that if you take out NK, then you are stuck with all the starving North Koreans.

It's incredible some of the statistics, they are shorter and lighter then any other nation whole generations of underfed brain washed people, it's beyond belief
It's fascinating, in a morbid way, how there has never really been a people's rebellion against the Kim dynasty afaik. Really shows how tight of a grip they have on their people's minds with the propaganda. It's basically Stalin's USSR, except he had to crush more descent and even then there was a strong, underground counterculture. That doesn't seem to be a single equivalent to that with the commoners of NK- it's effectively medieval peasantry with the odd scraps of technology.

I hope Trump nukes Pyongyang. If he did that I'd reverse course and worship him as a hero.

That would put them out of their misery faster, since they can't get the job done, themselves, honestly. Win-Win if it happens for everyone, either way.

It's kinda hard to mount a revolution when you're starving, have no weapons, and anyone caught trying to do so is sent to a concentration camp with three generations worth of their family.

I'd rather see that happen, and install a government that immediately destroys the Juche ideals in favor of the reforms those people deserve.

According to defectors, nobody entirely believes the propaganda at this point anyway - too much information is smuggled in from the outside. The entire reason the Kim dynasty is still in power is that he's got the military elite backing him by offering massive bribes and kickbacks. Plus, as @GabeRegan said, it's hard to organize a rebellion or movement outside of basic black market shenanigans when getting caught basically erases a family out of the map along with close relatives. Combine this with a lack of ability to even tune into radio stations outside the state run ones, and you're unable to even have a Radio Free Europe style thing going.

That is the sticking point in all this, it's hard to get 'the word' in through the same means that otherwise toppled the Soviet Bloc of Europe.

Whilst I have a personal and professional stake in this whole North Korea thing so I don't want to powerlevel like a tard, I think it's safe to say that NK doesn't have any drastic nuclear weaponry. Not only do they not have drastic nuclear weaponry, they also don't have much in the way of bombs. This isn't KJU playing games, he just doesn't have much. He has some Chinese and Russian (Soviet Era) parts and maybe some locally made stuff, but that's about it.

The thing that NK has going for it is that they are highly educated - their school system is no joke, so these aren't some goat fucking tards like youd get in the M.E.
On the one hand whilst NK has dedicated troops, so does SK. Every man in SK has to enlist for Compulsory National Service between the ages of 18-35. It's looked upon pretty poorly if you try to slither out of it or if you choose the softer admin like roles (which last longer than the active duty enlistment). Nationalism is high in both countries, but I'd wager to say that it's probably lessening in NK. Jong Un isn't his father. He's not revered like his father and his cult of personality isn't anywhere near as strong as his fathers. He's also pissing the wrong people off which is having a knock on effect on morale in the country. It's not huge and it's not some massive uprising, but the people there aren't stupid. But I wouldn't be worried unless the U.S does something stupid first, only because I wouldn't want to see Seoul having to deal with the burden of yet another war, but Nuclear war? I really think is impossible.

Lol he's a fat baby and he looks like if you grew up a baby out of a crib into an adult and nobody takes him seriously because how could you possibly take this fat baby seriously? Even if he actually had nukes who would care?

It'd be pretty impressive if Unnie Jong had nukes. That'd imply he actually had a country that had money and didn't need it's lights shut off every night.
Besides, I would care. Where the hell do you expect me to get Pepero from if they nuke SK?

Kim with nukes isn't a realistic threat. The old and long range artillery dug in the mountains is likely to be the cause of the greatest loss of life in a hypothetical conflict. Seoul is less than thirty miles from the border with NK and we know Kim has artillery that can hit that far. How many guns are in working order we don't know, but we do know that the first thing those guns will do is fire to hit Seoul. That'll be tens of thousands of mostly civilian casualties.

Seoul is well within range of their weapons.
There are also highly vulnerable military targets within range of even the most basic of ICBMs that NK has to offer. Such as Guam and Okinawa.
It's really up to Kimmy Boy's whims if he was ballsy enough to actually start shit. He could try to nuke civilian targets like Seoul or Tokyo and (assuming their shit actually worked, the outcome would be devastating) or he could hit military targets. Both would be terrible if it's successful.
Since Kim would already attack Seoul with conventional weaponry, Tokyo, Okinawa or some other major City (like Busan) would be a better target for a nuke.

The fact that KJU is not his father is the reason he's tarding out, I assume. He has to appear strong and get some shit done, or else he might fall victim to a little coup. After all, he had his half-brother killed, most likely so he can't be used as a pawn against him.

Seriously he begs constantly and spends the money on toys like this stupid ass missile, he's fat, he has to pay for sex, he's Chris. We should call him and yell :julay:
I'd be more in favor of yelling JUCHAAAAAAAAAAY tbh.
