What I always wonder about is how those people can afford all those stuff to eat. I mean, obviously they can't work. Do they get welfare for disability or such?

They are more than likely on SSDI and food stamps. All of that money goes to food. You can tell by the squalor they live in; barely any furniture, severe lack of any dental work, etc. They live like some other lolcows, all money goes to food and vidya (I’ve seen several episodes where they have several different current gen video game systems and new iPads and iPhones).

More likely that's because furniture breaks under their weight and they ruin their teeth with candy and softdrinks.
Let's be honest, all of them are too fat to fit in a dentist's chair, which probably wouldn't be able to support their weight anyway.

And if it did they might get hungry and eat the dentist's equipment while it's in their mouths. And then the dentist, too.

I've been combing this thread and have one question: has there been even one person on this train wreck who has a real medical reason for being obese?

There is no medical reason for being that obese. There are conditions that could make it hard (but certainly not impossible) to avoid gaining weight into the lower end of the obese range. There are none that will just make 500 lbs of fat appear on your body against your will.

It's a mental illness, a lot of those tubbos, especially the more fargone ones like James K., Assanti, or Sean have glaring mental problems and are usually in dysfunctional environments that encourage that to remain as globglogabgalabs

Sean was the one a few weeks ago who is 25, babied by Mom his whole life till she kicked the bucket, and his new goal is losing enough weight to go into “a care facility”. You have to be all kinds of mental to aspire to going to a home.

As I remember, big part of women from that show were raped at young age, some were experiencing sexual and/or physical abuse for years, some grew up among drug-addict junkies. They didn't get help, so they tried to solve their problems through eating.

There actually is a genetic disorder that almost always does lead to obesity. It's called Prader-Willi syndrome, and its biggest symptom for those effected is being constantly hungry. Like, starving hungry. All the time. No matter how much they eat, they will never stop being hungry. For them, food is their entire life and they will eat pretty much anything. Completely frozen food, pet food, garbage, rotten food, things that can't even be considered food-you get the idea. Parents of children with the disorder have to keep any and all food under lock and key, because if they don't, they will quite literally eat themselves to death.

In addition to this, victims of Prader-Willi are developmentally delayed. The best way I can describe this is that people with the disorder are basically like people with Down syndrome. In fact, you can just think of the disorder like Down syndrome. The only big difference is that they're also constantly hungry, and they might have a bit of Pica in them also.

From what I know, no one on My 600lb Life has Prader-Willi. They're obese by their own merit.

Is Steven Assanti being kept alive by pure spite and malice or something? He's by far the fattest so I can't comprehend how he's managing to outlive his co stars.
