It's baffling me, too. He just refuses to die. He's like Assanti only he doesn't have the excuse of his bitterness and hatefulness keeping him alive. The man's a medical miracle.

Are they really that bad? Not saying they aren't-they're horrific, but is there really no chance of saving them? Let's say that hypothetically James changes his ways, and gets down to a healthy, or at least respectable weight. Would there be any chance of his legs ever getting better?

That is a big maybe from what I know. And he would need to take care of those logs hours each day if he can keep them. They were already discoloured and dying when he was with dr Now, and that was how long ago? They must look like waste from a slaughterhouse by now. A thorough few rounds of debriding, compression garments each day all day, hope nothing goes necrotic anyway.

There was a story about a guys neighbour that was somewhat mobile on fatpeoplehate, that had his legs fucked up too from weighing so damn much. And he just kept eating. Untill he literally rotted away and died from inside. Legs went black and he kept eating anyway, beating his wife and child so they would keep bringing food. That is the future of James K. He will never give up his beloved eggrolls. It is the weight from water that keeps him big and gaining and not the food.

James K is the only one in the show that looks substantially younger than his age instead of substantially older. That and his continued life are testament to what must be demigod tier genetics. A shame they're wasted on that fuck.

How do you get beaten by someone that would be completely ruined by one swift kick to their rotting legs? I get the kid because they get inculcated into fear but the wife?

lol I don't think it's a mixed message. It's the same one but the former is delivered in stealth bitch fashion. I'm sure the shows producers delight in just how unsympathetic a character Whitney is.

Old post, but I'm reading the thread in its entirety to catch up and I have a question.

What exactly is My Big Fat Fabulous Life?

Reality shows, or shows on The "Learning" Channel, usually have some sort of rhyme or reason. 90 Day Fiance is about a hot bitchy foreign woman "being engaged to" and "marrying" a shithead/nerd/ugly American guy and vice versa, with a few exceptions. All of the little people shows are about little people and their various struggles and activities (I liked the one where the mom is a pediatrician, she's cool), Nate and Jeremiah By Design is a Gay Couple Who Designs Houses and Adopts Children and is Progressive™, and so on.

MBFFL is about an obese woman doing...what? Did she literally get a show because she's fat? If so, why her? Because fat women like her are a dime a dozen.

Because like the posters said before...interesting that TLC shows MBFFL alongside My 600 LB Life.

It's so unfair that a person who was actually trying, making progress, and wanted to better themselves died, and yet Assenti is still here.

Yes! I felt so bad in the end where she was saying she didn't want to die and she finally had hope... then dies.

There are so many that don't deserve it that are still alive. It's frustrating.

Yeah well, some people will not stand up for themselves. It happens you know. That or because love.

James K was said to be physically violent on the show. He highly likely just throws shit and uses a cane or IV stand to hit people with. How they could not control him is also beyond me.

Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give them one lil' aygg roll?

Do not be so quick to deal out about turty pouns in one mont.

I would like to take a moment to say since reading this thread and watching a few episodes again after a while that I know view the film What's Eating Gilbert Grape in a whole new light.

Great film btw if you haven't seen it you should.

I watched the Kelly episode.

That ... Was the first time the show has made me cry. Most heartbreaking episode I've seen.

I watched the MSHPL story of AnnJeanette and could stop thinking this woman's face looks so much like Chantal (Foodie Beauty) and her body looks so much like Amberlynn Reid. Almost like they were morphed together.

She was just so self absorbed. Even when they got to Houston she wanted to make sure the apartment they got met her needs, to hell with anyone else's needs. And she didn't put a whole lot of effort into the diet. I can see why Dr. Now gets so fed up with patients like her. How many times did he tell her "You're going to die if you don't lose the weight." Ugh.

This season has really had some real winners on it...not! Although Brandon was cool and I liked his story. He seemed very sweet too. Everyone else has seemed very selfish.

Exactly!
There was one particular scene in Dr. Now's office, in which he approves AnnJeanette for surgery & they are all smiling/happy and about to exit the examining room,
  • Erica grabs AnnJeanette's purse off the counter hands it to her
  • Erica straightens out AnnJeanette's shirt so she looks presentable
  • then AnnJeanette just stands there directly in front of the door, looks over her shoulder just waiting for Erica to open the door for her, almost like Erica was some kind of servant of hers. Such an incredibly lazy & entitled diva!
I thought the girlfriend Erica was very sweet and kind. I hope she finds someone who treats her well, she deserves it.

Wow I'm halfway through the Kelly episode and I can already tell how different this episode is. Even Dr.Now's demeanor has a serious shift to it. Not that he's usually overly stern or mean but he's being especially compassionate.

I think that's what got to me the most. Kelly really had nobody, and Dr. Now could even sense it, I believe. Sometimes, life just sucks and really beats people down mercilessly. Throughout the episode, we were introduced to her (obviously emotionally distant) family and her "best friend," but ALL of them disappeared throughout the episode. It was like these people were just passing her along to others as if she wasn't wanted ... Which is pretty much what Kelly went though long before she got herself into the condition that she was in.

Kelly came across as a really kind person, too; not a spoiled, gluttonous, rotten brat like so many of these other people on the show have acted. She was clearly unwanted by those around her ... No wonder Dr. Now openly showed that much compassion to her.

Who thought it was a good idea to have Kelly fly in that plane, btw? Again, it was proof that she really had nobody. Nobody wanted to put forth the effort to make the road trip for her. God. That's so legitimately sad.

And I really couldn't fight the tears when the episode said that Kelly had died alone. And the last thing that Kelly recorded for the show was the moment when she showed motivation by applying for colleges, all the while she was losing so much weight and working so hard at it. Fuck.

Can I just say FUCK James "MY LAYYGS" K? Not only did that ungrateful fuck basically flat out squander any chance he had at loosing weight because eating fried fish every day is just such too much to ask, but he had one of the worst personalities ever. Like a triple threat of childish, self centered, and dickhead all in one. One can only hope one day he'll be up there with our gorl Big Al's bra in the great big garbage pile in the sky.

Well he nearly died and then didn't. The show did do a follow up and he tried to get the surgery anyway, where he gained back every bit of weight he lost since the first episode on him. Lisa was laughing as she kept feeding him. Dr Now called adult services but since he was not forced to eat they did nothing for him. He will die soon enough, he did too much damage to recover from and will never change.

Watching tonight's episode right now. Apparently, this chick was so fucking fat back in school that her friends tried to raise money to send her to fat camp by writing an article in the school paper. And when the local news heard about it, they wanted to do a piece on her to highlight America's obesity epidemic. ROFL
