>Garland was 16 when she starred in 1939 movie, The Wizard of Oz. The claim she was molested by the actors who played the munchkins comes from the actress's late husband, Sid Luft, in a re-released book (due out in September), Judy and I: My Life with Judy Garland.

>Journalists got distracted when, the day after the revelations, Stephen Hawking died and everyone looked the other way.

>Garland herself previously claimed the munchkins were "drunks" who partied all night. The police rounded them up in butterfly nets, she claimed. One reportedly asked her on a date.

And how many of the munchkins are actually still alive to even get any sort of punishment? For fuck's sake, Judy herself died 50 years ago.

One is still alive. Jerry Maren, who was mentioned in the article. Though TBH, the dude's 98. The last thing he needs is to have something that may or may not have happened almost 80 years ago rear its ugly head.

He’s the last living adult one as far as I know. There were a few very tiny children assigned to play munchkins that are still alive as far as I know.

My opinion is:
He’s a very old man in ailing health. He doesn’t need any allegations in front of him which he has dismissed before as far as I know along with others (example: the suicidal munchkin claim.) I remember him claiming he was never drunk on set and I doubt he touched Judy in any wrong ways. But I do not doubt the possibility that she was touched by munchkins, as her ex husband Sid Luft, (who she was married to from 1952-1966) did write that Judy told him about it in his book “Judy and I: My life with Judy Garland.” (Good read for a rainy day btw.)

They could also go pester Caren Marsh Doll for answers if they wanted a female perspective (especially since she was Garland's stand-in), but nobody likes to bother little old women about such things.

Sid Luft is absolutely the LAST person who should be making claims against anyone else about hurting and abusing Judy Garland.

Because he did plenty of that himself to her.

ETA- I'm sure his daughter Lorna is behind the re-release of this book.
She has her own muck racking book out on her mother and has spent her life simultaneously shitting on the dead woman and making money off of her.
Just like her dear old dad.

Hasn’t Judy Garland’s life been hard enough without these sexual abuse allegations? Even in death, the poor girl can’t catch a break.

Fucked up, to be sure. Apparently her co-stars treated her like shit on the set of the Wizard of Oz because they thought they were better than her (seniority, pay grade, etc.). She's 16 and you're what, 30+? Where do you get off treating a teen star like shit when she's trying to do her best? What do you honestly have to prove being a fuckass to a kid?

Judy Garland was kind of a bitch really, but does anyone remember the Wizard of Oz for any reason other than her performance? Well, okay, there was Bert Lahr, too, but who really cares about the Lollipop Guild? It was just a bunch of fucking midgets. There wasn't even a David Rappaport-tier talent in the lot of them.

Considering the fact that lots of films and cartoons reference the Cowardly Lion, the Scarecrow, and the Tin Man as well as Dorothy, and that for a long time the image conjured up when hearing the word "witch" was Margaret Hamilton's depiction of the Wicked Witch of the West, and that the song "Ding Dong the Witch is Dead" shot to the top of the charts in Britain after Margaret Thatcher died, and that pretty much everyone would be able to tell you what you were referencing if you said "Oz", "Yellow Brick Road", or "Munchkinland" would point to yes, people certainly did take from the film much more than Judy Garland's performance. Judy Garland did not provide vocals for every song and the ones she didn't sing are just as memorable and iconic as the ones where she was.

I still think her performance was the best part of the movie and, regardless, there was no excuse for treating her badly during the filming. And okay, everyone does love the Lollipop Guild song, even if those midgets and dwarves were a bunch of perverts.

That and Louis B Mayer and her Mother had Judy hooked on pills by the time she 12.

There was even worries that Judy was "too fat" and needed to lose more weight during the filming of Wiz of Oz. They shoved her into a corset, painfully taped down her boobs.
This was in addition to the speed pills she took to wake up/lose weight/function and the downers at night to sleep.

Oddly enough, Judy's daughter Liza ended up marrying Jack Haley Jr (son of the Tin Man) in a pair of ruby slippers given to her by Judy.

This wouldn't surprise me if it was true, but considering how into booze and pills Judy got in her later life I doubt it was just munchkins pawing her. Dan Schneider's hardly the first of his kind working behind the scenes.

In any case, can't really implicate *every* munchkin. Individuals make the choice to do this kind of thing. And since most of them are dead and all we have is claims, the truth is pretty much lost to time.
