I sincerely believe that we are at a turning point in YouTube history, and in the history of the Internet and World Wide Web altogether.

The flagrant abuse of power by YouTube and other social media providers has been documented for a while now. And it is now apparent that YouTube is allied with the mainstream media in a new culture war, and it's staff and employees can and will terminate accounts without warning, reason, or recourse.

Even if you abhor PewDiePie and Mumkey Jones, you must accept that this state of affairs is dangerous for the state of YouTube and possibly even the Internet as a whole.

Corporations should not be allowed to stifle information or even entertainment at a whim.

Watch this space. I have a feeling it's going to expand beyond anything we could normally imagine.

You ever wonder why China, despite being for almost a thousand years the most powerful and advanced nation in the world, was utterly kerbstomped first by a bunch of horse fuckers to the north, and then again when European powers started taking an interest in dicking with them?

Hegemony.

China was easily the biggest swingin dick in all asia for the simple reason that it had vast quantities of arable land, strong natural defences, and therefore an insane population that allowed it to utterly dominate its neighbours and which meant that there was no existential threat from the outside for 99% of their history. This bred an arrogance so ingrained into their culture and so fanatically believed in that they just straight up based their foreign policy on explicitly declaring to everyone outside of china that they owned them and required that foreign powers declare china owned them if they wanted to conduct trade or foreign relations, which pretty much every nation around them had to do in order to conduct basic business with them. Hell this is why for 90% of china's history the various wars have been civil wars of various kinds.

However the problem with hegemony is that if you don't have anyone to compete with...why the fuck bother trying to better yourself?

Why bother advancing basic ass gunpowder shit when what you have will easily scare your neighbors into compliance?

Why bother exploring the world and colonising distant lands when you already believe yourself the centre of the universe?

Why bother adapting in the face of upstart mongolians/britfags when your ways have ensured your supremacy for centuries?

Meanwhile in what china deemed the furthest and most insignificant outskirts of their universal domain, the unenlightened barbarians were constantly competing with eachother and endlessly advancing and refining both their own innovations and those from other nations, including China, but China had no reason to care. Surely such primative and lowly cretins couldnt possibly OH FUCK THE MONGOLIANS JUST MURDERFUCKED OUR WHOLE COUNTRY/OH FUCK THE BRITFAGS GOT US HOOKED ON OPIUM AND ARE DRAINING ALL OUR SHEKELS!

Unchallengable hegemony is toxic by nature. It ensures decadence and stagnation in the group that has hegemony, and both allows those outside that group to emulate and improve that which gave the hegemonic group their power, AND motivates them to topple the hegemony on principle thanks to all said hegemony's douchebag antics

Same is true for these tech companies. No matter how hard they try to tighten their grip, all it does is stagnate their own brand and motivate outsiders to create a replacement. Even with all the corporate backing and political chicanery backing them up, this state of affairs can only last so long when the tools to build competition are so freely avaliable and advancing every year.

You may say its foolish to think that Youtube/twitter/facebook/whatever will fall so easily once they attain hegemony. In response I will simply ask this...

What was the fate of Imperial China after they attained hegemony?

As for the Mumky site.......I hate to give the guy credit but the fucking Nostalgia Critic proved that you could escape the grasp of youtube and create a hub for censored channels back 10 years ago in a way that could not be easily countered or silenced. This idea has precedent backing it, and if the fucking maelstrom of autism that was channel autism could last nearly 10 years then anypony with half a brain could do something similar

It's odd. Fans of Mumkey like this fellow seem content with purging the right wingers from Youtube but don't seem to realize that edgy comedy gets put on the chopping block when you do this.

wouldn't be surprised if keem's reasoning is what YouTube told him instead of his own take or speculation, though its strange that an event that happened months ago gave google employees this much anger over the mere mention of the phase "shooting" its autistic enough for a silicon valley employee I might just believe it.

What the fuck motivates these pedos to be as loud, conspicuous, and self-righteous as possible? Wouldn't that be counterproductive for someone who doesn't want to be e-lynched?
 
I don't even like Mumkey but the idea to go this far into (not limited to):
  • Previously was okay with monetizing his videos but later take them down without any warning whatsoever
  • Not just terminated his channel, but including any channel he makes
  • Taking down his girlfriend's channel
  • Demonetizing anyone who associates with him or him being a part of, such as The Dick Show
Is absolutely ridiculous. I have never seen YouTube staff going this full autism since LifeInATent where they took down multiple of his channels (and even then just recently checked and he's still on YouTube). Something is definitely fishy going on at the higher ups.

I would not be surprised if it came out that someone at YouTube actually had a deathwish against Mumkey and plotted to kill him at one point, but backed down at the last minute.

It's also interesting because they normally like to hide behind algorithms and automation, but when they wanna shut someone down they can suddenly do it in person.
