His channel's still up.
Ah.

Still, I don't think Mumkey is the end of this. I mean it's YouTube, it's hard to tell whether or not they'll take down other "Problematic" users like E;R, Null, etc in the near future. And whether it'll be because they're problematic or if it's out of incompetence or false flagging or whatever other reason YouTube pulls out its ass.

Too small to be a problem is just fine. Nipping the bud when they have an income they rely upon is more devastating and sends a stronger message.

They also can't go too big or they'll end up with a competing platform actually getting an audience.

this video was reported for talking about it. honestly havent seen this kind of alert on youtube before.

as an aside this dudes channel is fucking hilarious, i have no idea if hes actually this stupid or if its a bit
I'm pretty sure that guy is just trolling. It's a shame people can't seem to take a joke.

This is just another example of how YouTube went to shit ever since Google bought it.
But that happened in 2006, literally only a year after it was made.

Nah, I'd argue 2006 was the beginning of the end. The Viacom lawsuit only sped things up.
Nigga what

2006 was only a year after YouTube began, in February 14, 2005.

I don't get people saying events that happened literally only a few years after YouTube was born was when the site died. The Internet itself was much younger, and YouTube honestly needed Google's support to survive.

Google definitely took over later than 2006

So, call me a brainlet, but with regards to all the youtube issues: why don't the more enterprising 'content creators' create personal websites? Is it no longer possible to earn ad revenue from your own website? Especially with the ubiquity of SEO, you'd think someone could make a standalone site, or a templated one and earn money that way. Disregarding lolcow status for a moment, that's how guys like Maddox and the Channel Awesome crew rose to their peaks. Youtube either wasn't around or wouldn't have them, so instead they produced their content on their own domains.

I get why places like here or ED need to either constantly shift around or go completely independent, there's enough concerned autists and corporate brand managers that any community focused on trolling or related content is going to have to do that, and deplatforming is a serious issue but some of these guys are rather simply lewd artists or edgy comedians.

A lot of people do; YMS' official channel is called YourMovieSucksDOTorg for a reason, and you see other creators do the same like Spoony, Cinema Snob, RLM, Cinemassacre etc.

The problem is that these websites probably aren't gonna reach a wide audience, not in the same way YouTube could. That's why these creators still post to YouTube as well as their personal sites, because even they know YouTube will attract more people. It's worth noting that the majority of people on CA had YouTube channels prior to transitioning to the site, but even CA ended up using YouTube again after Blip crashed and burned.

Mumkey no longer has the ability to post to YouTube, and while his core audience is still going to watch on his personal website, it's going to be significantly harder for him to attract more people who weren't already aware of his content.

Sorry if late.

I sincerely believe that we are at a turning point in YouTube history, and in the history of the Internet and World Wide Web altogether.

The flagrant abuse of power by YouTube and other social media providers has been documented for a while now. And it is now apparent that YouTube is allied with the mainstream media in a new culture war, and it's staff and employees can and will terminate accounts without warning, reason, or recourse.

Even if you abhor PewDiePie and Mumkey Jones, you must accept that this state of affairs is dangerous for the state of YouTube and possibly even the Internet as a whole.

Corporations should not be allowed to stifle information or even entertainment at a whim.

Watch this space. I have a feeling it's going to expand beyond anything we could normally imagine.

Edit: This shit won't embed properly SMFH.

Edit 2: Finally got the embed down.
