So, call me a brainlet, but with regards to all the youtube issues: why don't the more enterprising 'content creators' create personal websites? Is it no longer possible to earn ad revenue from your own website? Especially with the ubiquity of SEO, you'd think someone could make a standalone site, or a templated one and earn money that way. Disregarding lolcow status for a moment, that's how guys like Maddox and the Channel Awesome crew rose to their peaks. Youtube either wasn't around or wouldn't have them, so instead they produced their content on their own domains.
I get why places like here or ED need to either constantly shift around or go completely independent, there's enough concerned autists and corporate brand managers that any community focused on trolling or related content is going to have to do that, and deplatforming is a serious issue but some of these guys are rather simply lewd artists or edgy comedians.
