"My computer was working great last night [but] this morning it says, 'Microsoft Legal Agreement' with bunch of legal information and WAY at the bottom 'Accept your new Windows 10' or 'Decline,'" wrote a someone identified as scifixtion in a Friday post to Microsoft's support forum. "I hit Decline and it says, 'It will take a few moments to go back to your old Windows software,' [but] then it goes black and go[es] right back to [the] Microsoft legal agreement [and shows] 'Accept windows 10' or 'Decline.' I've hit Decline a dozen times and it won't budge."

The legal agreement that scifixtion referenced was the Windows 10 end-user license agreement, or EULA.

I had to fucking upgrade to Windows 10 and it completely broke my copy of MGSV. I can't fucking play because it stops working every time I try to start it, and all the solutions I've tried so far have done nothing.

I caved in when my laptop started screaming SURRENDER DOROTHY and it's actually worked a lot better since.

Disable automatic "Recommended" updates (don't disable automatic "Critical" updates). This will stop Windows 10 from installing itself.

I've disabled automatic updated for a while now just because of shit like this.

I hope they get a big old fine because this shit ain't legal.

I personally expect this is done so that Microsoft can not only push their online store, but also shrink the amount of money they put into updating 7 and 8.1 since they're still supported.

Apple also lets you freely upgrade to the next version of their operating system. I'm assuming Microsoft is attempting to copy Apple as much as possible like they tried to do with the Zune and their phones.

Yea I normally don't do conspiracy theories but my laptop ran like shit with the Windows 10 updater on it until I updated then the various performance issues mysteriously went away.

Is there any way to make windows 10 not spy on you, and what data would they use against you

All of these settings can be turned off when you are setting up the operating system after the installation.

GWX Control Panel is useful if you don't even want to be reminded of the existence of 10. This also includes the so-called "spyware" updates that were back-ported to Windows 7/8.

While I run 10 on my gaming/heavy computing desktop already, I don't want it on my main laptop for school - thing's getting on in years as is and I prefer the old Win 7 functionality on it vs. 10's craptacular abundance of crap everywhere. Plus, memory is sort of an issue and I just know a forced upgrade to 10 is going to brick it.

I also find it hilarious MS is actually trying to force "free" upgrades all around - wasn't the whole "free upgrade" thing actually supposed to end soon?

July, I think, though I'm sure they're going to extend it or let it run a little longer to get as many people onto it as possible. I'm sure there's some accountant somewhere who has crunched the numbers to determine at what point the company earns more money: selling licenses for Windows 10 versus saving money by not having to keep Win7/8 security patching going like they did with Windows XP.
