Christ, why does everything I show even the most remote interest in turn out to either be dogshit or infested with far-left propagandists who hate everything their work is based off of.
Even if I decided to never take an interest in anything ever again and just stare at a wall until I dehydrate to death, I can see even that being ruined.

This is your fault for not noticing how bland the preview footage for this game looked.

So I saw the hilariously retarded IGN video and decided to give this game a shot. It's better than they acted like it was but probably not worth $30. There's nothing that I really dislike about it except some of the areas feel kind of repetitive and it feels like you never have enough ammo. I don't know if I'll have it in me to play the whole game.
Modern gaming in a nutshell. Unreeel Engain very gud SAAAAR!
I really hope you're joking right now, but in case you're not:

1. the GTX 1060 is almost a 10-year old GPU
and 2. this game is made in unity*, not unreal.

*They were also kind enough to use Mono and not Il2cpp so making mods should be relatively easy for anyone interested.

Interesting how everyone conveniently tries to go "...actually it's an old GPU" like consumerist redditors completely missing the point. 6 GB VRAM to run a wannabe doom with 2D sprites is not in any way acceptable. And no, 10 years ago 6 GB wasn't the standard, it was overkill. So stop trying to brush this off with " but muh 10 year old GPU"! And Unity, Unreal, same unoptimized mess. You wouldn't be able to tell without looking it up.

Here's the recommended specs:
  • Recommended:
    • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
    • OS: Windows 11
    • Processor: Intel Core i5 9600 / Ryzen 3600
    • Memory: 16 GB RAM
    • Graphics: GeForce RTX 3060 / Intel Arc B570 / Radeon RX 7600
    • DirectX: Version 11
    • Storage: 11 GB available space
    • Additional Notes: VRAM: 8 GB
Want to run those 2D sprites at settings higher than the absolute minimum or at 60 fps? That will be an RTX 3060 with 8 GBs, sire. It's a 5 year old GPU now, so if you complain you're poor or something.

Yeah. That's the biggest problem woth this game. The actual story is literally just Mouse Wolfenstein which is whatever. I don't get why people are pretendong to be offended by it when other games have done the kill actual Nazis (not a poor euphemism for anyone conservative) thing for 3 decades now even before but there is no reason why the specs of the game need to be so high for what is essentially a Doom mod but Cuphead.

It's not really pushing the boundary of what's possible with these graphics and more geometrically complex games have used less resources than this shit while having more content too. All the signes were there that this was a mediocre game, but for some reason, people didn't see it and are complaining about IGN's score which scored on a retarded way but honestly high considering how bland the game is. It's style over substance but its style isn't even that great.

In the second level there's a skeleton corpse on all fours with a spear stuck in his ass that felt out of place for a joke. If you bothered to check some of the videos posted here, you would see there's also gross dialogue between random NPCs that imply weird stuff at best.
The burden of proof is on the plaintiff, sir.

IDK why this is classified as Doom shooter or Boomer shooter
Playing it and the presentation feels like its trying to emulate Bioshock Infinite's highly mobile combat but without any of the vigors.

All the arena fights, the platforms and use of quick dodge and double jump, the RPG LITE weapon upgrade system, multiple ammos that do not get shared across guns, enviromental traps that can be exploited by the player

The only thing I saw directly borrowed from something Doom was picking up and throwing explosive barrels like in Brutal Doom

So I'm previewing this game through a playthrough because I do kind of want to vet if games look good or not before I purchase it and there's a lot of shit that's making angry in this game. It just reeks of investor firm meddling or consultancy meddling. Apparently this game was funded by the Australian government, allegedly, and boy fucking god it shows a lot. From the lazy, phoned in fucking performance of Troy Baker who really is only there because high profile actors have a lot of pull. Debra Wilson just talking in a microphone in her usual voice not even trying to disguise which is what fucking voice actors are supposed to do. This phoned in, lazy, corporate, consultant, whatever writing that's just lazy references to other games (because references to other games sell!) or cheese puns.

The art direction and gameplay look solid along with the soundtrack, but Jesus Christ every other aspect just seems it was done for a paycheck and nothing else. I guarantee you the writer was just an investor stand in. I can't find any credits for them (not a good sign), but it fucking stinks of someone who has no connection to the game or what the time period the game's set in.

I remember them showing it off on twitter (years ago) when it was just a cartoon hand and a bunch of default boxes and people went apeshit for it.

I think if not for the art style, no one would give a shit. If you take that away, you're left with a below average boomer shooter where the guns don't really feel all that good to shoot. Enemy pathing is retarded, the "minigames" are huge wastes of time, the bosses are pathetic, and the guns are uninspired and feel underwhelming to use.

There are moments where you get a powerup where you can punch really hard, or shoot finger guns that's very powerful, but they're limited to the area you find them in, and may as well as be scripted sequences. It would make much more sense for them to be consumable items so you can choose when to use them instead.

The game also suffers from being black and white, the novelty wears off very quickly. There's one part of the game that's in colour and it honestly looks a lot better than the rest of the game.

I really think thats the biggest thing here, its the only reason it stands out
extreme stylization but as you say..... theres literally almost nothing else about it

Its less "the enemies are Nazis" and more that they tied the Nazis to a parody of the MAGA movement, which feels a bit silly when Trump is often criticized for how much he cares about Israel.

Honestly, reading everything, while IGN's review wasn't amazing, it doesn't sound wrong. If they could of elaborated better, maybe that would help. Such as, the problem isn't the game has references, its that those references are just pop culture. Cuphead was a game that really appreciated old cartoons, Mouse PI is a game that liked Cuphead. Its not a love letter to Noir or the rubberhose style, it just emulates the style.

Look I don't like Unreal either but I don't think it makes sense to get mad at a game for using Unreal... when it doesn't use Unreal.

You can tell by going in the folder and seeing this logo:

the gtx 1060 is about 10 times more powerful than the vega integrated graphics they put in ryzen laptops. That means that this game isn't playable on integrated graphics

Guy has a point, when i was in elementary school 20 years ago i was playing quake 3 on the integrated graphics on the school computers. i played it on my atom netbook because they could handle quake 3 just fine. This game has a lower level of visual fidelity than quake 3 does and its minimum requirements are the video card i used to play cyberpunk 2077
